Harley Benton Valuestrings EL 9-42 1-star Reviews
I bought 10 packs and wanted to like them
Strings sound ok, not an issue. The problem is that they break like crazy. I can’t play for more than about 20 minutes with a string breaking. Now I’m stuck with a bunch of strings that can’t be used for gigs or studio. Buyer Beware!!
NOT Ernie Ball Slinky's
Bought these because some of the reviews compared them favorably to Ernie Ball Slinky's. These aren't even in the same galaxy as Ernie Ball's. First thing I noticed when opening the package was how much smaller these were coiled compared to other strings. This can cause damage to the strings by coiling them too tight distorting the structure of the strings. They could not stay in tune and sounded horrible. Cheaper for me to throw away than to return so that's what I did.
I don't use it with fender strat.
Value strings if you don't care about sound
I am not against trying and purchasing "value" items as I have had good buys in the past. Like the Harley -Benton bass strings which are OK. However sometimes, it is a waste of money.
And I frankly cannot find anything valuable beside the price about those strings. I had to use two sets to restring my guitar because the wire of one of them just detached itself from the holding ring at the bridge.
Also the strings don't really unroll. They stay coiled. Weird thing!
The sound is weak and mat sounding.
I restrung immediately my guitar with better ones.
Awful strings, they're like Coat Hangers. Awful sound awful quality - would not buy again. Cheap but you're better off using a bit of chain link fence if you don't have the money to buy decent strings
