HoTone Ampero 5-stars Reviews
Unreal
Great Pedal so easy to navigate through the menus, and when connected to laptop so easy to edit patches and do what I want without breaking my back.
Best item for its money.
Everything is really positive except of thing - the pedal is not for constant use. You better get yourself something external. All the rest is perfect - size, handling, sound (i`ve made a better sound with it native irs than my helix had), and etc.
Very good sound and usability for the size
I bought it to substitute my pedalboard composed of single pedals and as an all-in-one solution for gigs (this way I don't have to carry an amp or mic, as it can be directly plugged into the mixing table).
It has a great selection of effects, amps, cabs, and more can be purchased from their website. The touchscreen is fast, colorful and very easy to use.
For the prize and very compact size it's almost unbeatable. I'm very happy with this purchase.
Better than I expected
The first impression when I opened the box was.... WOW, this is small.
The second was, very good build quality.
I mostly play at home and I wanted something to plug and play, instead of using my tube preamp-poweramp-cab setup.
The pc editor is what I use all the time, it's quicker / easier to create sounds, on my desk, plugged into my interface with studio monitors.
The cleans and crunches are very very good in no time / efford.
For the hi gain sounds it took me a while to find the right sound for my liking and the most important for me was the cab choise / ir and definately a generous hi cut in the global or preset eq.
This is my first modeler (since digitech rp6!!!) and I am quite impressed for the sounds you can achieve for such a low price.
Definately recommended.
P.S. After using it for a while, I'm thinking to go for something even better/pricier/more controls/choices and stop using my all tube HEAVY setup....
Amazing Multi-FX processor for the money
Amazing product - perfect for all genres.
Only Con is that it lacks DSP power to support a whammy pedal simulator.
Woooowww!!!
This product is living up to the hype!!! Sound and build quality are superb.
Sufficient for my need. The only thing that I am concern about was the expression pedal. It's too small but apart from that its functional. Overall, highly recommended!!!
Best bang for the buck
It is versatile, good sounding and easy enough to use.
The touchscreen is great addition, but i think that connected to the PC and using editor is even easier to make a good sound preset.
I tried it through PA speakers, i plugged it in return of an valve amp head, directly into SS combo amp, and now i am playing it at home through 7 inch studio speakers in stereo.
Really good sound for a digital modeler.
It takes time to get to know the features. It has numerous effect's. I haven't tried most of them yet.
IMHO it is the best multi effect/guitar processor unit within 320€.
My friend has Hotone Ampero II and it is even better unit than this one ,but it is 200€ more...
After 2 month's of use all i can say that i am just starting to discover it's quirks and features.
In the past i've payed for two effect's pedals the same money than i did for Hotone Ampero, so i recommend you try it out.
The best proc I've ever had
lost for words
I've had the ampero for 6 months and it completely changed the way I go about making music. I've sold my amps and now this is my whole rig, for live performance and recording. That's how good it is. I don't want to bore you with a full blown love letter to this little black box, so here goes:
PROS:
- all in one. Amp, effects, recording rig, audio interface, looper, drum machine, tuner. This can literally be all your rig, I'm recording an album this week with my band and I can't tell you enough how satisfactory it is to come to recording sessions with only a guitar, this, and a cable;
- Decent sound. So, the way I like to explain sound quality on these modellers is like a movie. A real valve amp is like 4k, the stock IRs that come with this are 720p-1080p, But if you load one in you get up to 1440p which is plenty for me, and you can find them easily for free online (tip: ampero facebook group). Not that the pre installed IRs are bad, some of them are plenty good, like the marshalls and some of the fenders, it all comes to your personal taste. 4 stars but I think this is the one that gets you closer to the real deal sound-wise in this price range;
- Very customizable. It comes with 4 buttons and you can program what every one of those does, gives you a lot to play with on stage or while recording
- the touch screen is an awesome idea, makes everything much easyer, although you won't be using it much if at all in a live situation.
- Build quality is just ridiculous, this thing is built like a safe, the screen could be a weakness though
Cons:
- It's a little noisy on the higher gain/ crunchy stuff when you have the amp modulation on. Fair enough the real amp would do that too, but It gets a bit annoying on long sessions, especially if you're using low impedance headphones. You can however mitigate this with a noise gate, and it's a non-issue on recordings and live playing;
- If you plan on using the expression pedal a lot, this is not for you. It's cool for controling volume or fx parameters or even a little wah every now and then, but it's very basic and a bit stiff for effortless wah playing;
- the looper is very very basic, very limited controls, Good for practicing or coming up with ideas, but nothing else;
- Some of the fx, as well as some of the amp modulations are not quite up to scratch compared to the rest. But don't worry, all of the important stuff is good. Let's just say that out of the 244 fx, about 40 are really weird and a bit trash, they're really funny to play with though.
Check out Plywood Society on youtube if you want to hear this puppy in a song
Awesome
The sound is very good, warm and pleasant..
built quality is very strong..
features are awesome..
screen has high resolution..
there is a touch screen..
Easy navigation..
particularly for the price. Just buy it..
The USB audio interface doesn’t work with the USB C with iPad Pro. When directly connected to USB C, it does seem to work fine, but with the dock but lightning dock works fine, and Pc connectivity is ok.
good product
The product matches the description. It performs its function. I recommend you to buy!
5 Stars for the Price/Performance Ratio
I have chosen this unit based on YouTube tests where I found just the Fractal FM3 a little better, but you know the price for FM3 is in a different universe.
I am one of them knowing that real tube can't be replaced by any digital unit, so if I use Ampero in a rehearsal room or studio (which is very little), I plug it to the return of tube amp as an preamp (and turn off the cab sim).
For traveling, quick demo recording, evening practice in front of TV, it is perfect.
As a working musician, even when I had technical problems, I used Ampero as a preamp to tube amp, and used it on a released record. Once it also saved my gig, when borrowed amp didn't work, and I was carrying my Ampero as a backup.
Using your own IRs is great.
I only miss a clean DI output a little, but that's not a big problem for me, also I'm sure the price with good DI out would be higher.
I bought Ampero out of curiousness, and low price, and I could imagine selling it with some loss, but now I am keeping it.
Useful for live show
I think this is a useful pedal. I haven't fully explored the features yet but so far I have found it easy to use and it sounds great. I chose this over the Headrush Gigboard and the HX Stomp largely because of the balanced XLR ouputs, the price difference and decent reviews which made me think it was potentially better than both other pedals - and for my purposes it is.
I compared the sounds of Ibanez AZ to a HX Stomp and definitely think it sounds as good. But HX Stomp has more advansed routing.
Needs a tweek but great
first of all its a good looking good quality unit, built to last it feels but is compact enough that you can carry it easily.
The presents are Not too bad I've kept a few of them but the rest are the normal way out there sounds that most manufacturers put on this type of unit. Sounds are dead easy to edit the touch screen makes it really easy and its pretty easy to pick up how to do it without the manual (for someone who is pretty rubbish at that kind of thing only had to look at the manual once to see how to change the operation of the CTRL button)
Pros
Solid build and good quality with good looks
Sounds are really good but for me had to spend an hour or two making some i wanted
The ability to work patches like a few of mine now are so that i have a fender clean with an OCD stomp for some dirt so i can use it like an amp with a drive pedal
Cons
None really maybe could do with four pedals for banks and the CTRL peddle but then it would loose some of its compact appeal
I tried the boss GT1 the mooer preamp live and this is the one i am sticking with
Excellent choice for any use
Its very easy to dial your tone with this product, The touchpad is game changer for me against other products ,the sound is very good and most of amps and cab simulators are very realistic
Incredible
I'm lost for words, for just under 350 Euros the possibilities of tone and effects this little unit brings is absolutely incredible, almost downright impossible.
Almost everything that you'll ever need is in this unit.Maybe a Helix or an AxeFx has somewhat better tones or effects, but when a unit 10x the price, it's barely ahead of the Ampero, you have to question whether those Units are worth the price.
Cheap, effective, compact and great build quality. Buy it, you wont regret it.
Hi-gain castle for every guitar knight !!!
Ampero is second best piece of guitar gear I ever buy...first is TwoNotes Torpedo Live!
Amp simulation is soooo good, and with some custom IR is even better!
I sold Engl tube preamp and power amp...and now only use Ampero!
People...you don't must spend lot of money to have good sound, and this modeler is proof !!!

Superb value
I bought the Ampero mainly to practice at home in silence. The sound I receive in my headphones is of great quality. before I had the Amp2 headphone amp, but that was disappointing. Glad I shifted over to this. Tons of possibilities with the Ampero from classic sounds to super whacky. Easy to control, solid build quality. The software is also very intuitive and easy to use. Barely needed the manual so far. Awesome product!
Really good sound for a price!
I used it for a live shows and it worked great.
I read a lot about that processor before buying it and many people said that the device have a problems with touchscreen, they say it works slowly. But i bought it anyway because there also was a many people that say it works ok and they were totally right. I played a lot of concerts and didn't notice any problems.
pros
-Stereo XLR outs
-It's small
-Price
-Build quality
-It's have an expression pedal
-Four buttons control
-Friendly interface.
-Good sound for a price (You can really make a good patches with IR)
Cons
-No FX loop
-Sound a little bit digital for me (In studio experience, for live show it's amazing)
