K&M 18860 Spider Pro Black Reviews
Solid as a rock!
I am in love with this stand! After several small âone keyboardâ stands, this one finally gives me opportunity to play on stage as every rock keyboardist should play - in standing position with 2-3 robust keyboards and with no concern of stability! Highly recoomended!
Pricy but well worth it
Quality design, build and stability
Good and bad
I wanted one of these stands as it’s far easier to setup/ breakdown during gigs than taking multiple or Z frame / table top stands with extra arms.
The good - it is stable and holds 2 or 3 keyboards without any issues. It is fast to setup and break down, which is what I wanted.
The bad - in order to fit a third tier, you have to remove 5 screws in the top of the stand. These were really difficult to undo and I had to get one of my sons (a massive guy) to help and even he had a lot of difficulty with these screws. There is no need for the manufacturer to put them in this tight as it’s not structural, but just to hold the top plate which is a cover.
Next, with the third tier, the stand cannot be easily closed as it’s designed for the 2 tiers that come with the stand. I mainly use 2 keyboards, so not a major issue, but if I need to take 3, I have to remove that top plate each time to attach the third tier.
I need a bungee cord to keep the stand together when folded as the top arms do not stay in the groves and will flap around without this.
I am ordering a tray for the third tier as it won’t hold my smaller synths without this. I can just about fit a Moog Subsequent 37 on the arms without the tray but something smaller like a Moog Grandmother, will not fit in the width of the arms as these are too wide.
These arms are really designed for a 49 key keyboard or larger.
Overall I do like the stand and it works well, so I’m glad I purchased one.
Be Careful
It's great but be careful not to jam your hand on any flying arms
EXCELLENT PRODUCT THE: K&M 18860 Spider Pro Black
As a live musician, & needing a robust, sturdy & professional product, the K&M 18860 Spider Pro Black is just what I ordered, I could not be more happier & being able to use this keyboard infant of audience at live shows, festivals, this turns heads & so many positive comments & people says it looks like a huge spider on stage with its fantastic build quality... best keyboard stand out their. PS Did I say how much I love it...........
Built like a tank!
Wow! This keyboard stand will make a statement! I use this keyboard stand to securely hold three keyboards and even though I play aggressively, the stand gives me the confidence that my expensive gear is secure!
Not the steadiest, but pretty steady
Like an ultimate support stand on steroids.
If you play with any velocity (real pianists will understand what I mean), it shakes a little bit, but nothing that really interferes.
As usual with K&M, a bit pricey, but the quality is undeniably world class.
Rugged and dependable
Super strong and handy for all keyboards. Microphone mount is incredibly useful too.
Could be made easier to carry, perhaps lockable legs or a soft case.
Perfect stand for keyboards👌🏻
Fantastic keyboard stand, the best!
Had 2 of these for years! Best keyboard stand I’ve ever had, very sturdy and looks fantastic, Konig & Meyer are unbeatable for stands :)
I’ve also got many other products by them which I use on my tours
Decent stand
I am pleased with this stand for the most part. I am using it for a Nord Lead A1 with some additional small items on the top shelf.
The stability is good. It is not rock stable of course, I can make the arms wobble if I really try but it is not something that would happen during playing my keyboard. This applies both to the arms and to the central section with the legs as well.
Overpriced and won't get used.
First- it's too heavy and there isn't even a carrying handle in the middle. Instead there is an optional canvas case that will probably be useless after a couple of months..
2. The build!! It comes with a screw on top for a microphone. I put a 'gooseneck on the thing, only to have it fall through the stand on the floor, so I had to take the plastic bit off to be able to put the nut back. What a ridiculous setup- haven't the people heard of epoxy resin to keep a captive nut in place, or is that a forgotten item in Germany?? The circlip that holds the nut cracked on removal...
3. And the screws holding the plastic cap.. Self-tapping screws??? Have the people never heard of Machine Screws?? Screwing back the top plate cracked it, so I had one fabricated out of aluminum, re-drilled and the self tappers thrown away and replaced with machine bolts. Do they have a quality control department or are they all sick with Covid? I'll post it for sale on of the local selling sites here in Spain.
Good professional stand
A sturdy and roadworthy keyboard stand. Easy to handle and use, although heavy. The construction feels very durable.
Compared to a four legged table stand, a 20 + kg stagepiano made this stand to wiggle a little when playing harder. But I think it's inevitable with this type of stands, and will not bother you after the first minute.
Really happy with this stand.
I'm very happy with this stand. It does not shake at all even with 2 heavy keyboards. It's really nice stand in a nice color, with a lot of adjustments.
I have it for more than half a year now and it does not have any problems or anything wrong with it.
Also the delivery was quick.
Good big and heavy stand.
I bought a big keyboard, Yamaha Genos and formed a suitable bundle pack. My previous keyboard stand K&M 18962 has been very stable, but since the Genos is deep in size, I couldn't use the previous stands second floor. It was just because of this second floor option and the keyboard depth dimension, that I decided to give Spider a chance. Yes, this stand is stable enough and can be used safely. Of course, no stand of this type is as stable as, for example, my simple, cheap and safest K&M 18962, but the Spider is probably the best stand among the stands of this type. It has a very gentle flicker, but it does not disturb the playing and is not insecure. Since this stand is quite heavy, I plan to use it initially only at home, as a permanent setting. From front to back, it takes up more space than other stands because the upper end of the stand extends to the rear. At the same time, it saves space on the sides, the post stands of active monitors can be placed closer sideways.
Good big and heavy stand, you can save space towards the sides.
Stable and easy to use
The stand feels solid and works as expected. It's quite pretty even with my arachnophobic tendencies, haha.
If You want this style of stands there are no reason, except the price, to purchase anything else.
Good product
I currently use this stand to support two 15 kg keyboards and this stand fits this use perfectly.
I gig regularly and this stand has stood the test of time in terms of its durability and appearance. It has some weight to it, but that is of course necessary for its stability and is not a reason not to buy it.
The size of the stand was perfect to compliment my keyboard sizes. To anyone who wants a long-lasting, sturdy and aesthetically pleasing stand - you will not be disappointed.
Very useful stand
This is much more convenient for me than my old traditional 2 tier x-stand. Really nice to have both keyboards lower down so I can sit comfortably and reach both keyboards, plus my toddler can have a mess around on the lower tier keyboard now. Very solid and the mic arm attachment at the top of the stand is coming in very handy also (didn't even know about that until I got it, nice surprise)
Very good
It's very good, no problems whatsoever, the height is adjustable and the keys lay very nicely on it. As expected for the money.
solid and stable
I've been using this stand with two medium/low weight keyboards, Korg M3 and MODX7. no issue at all. it's heavy but it's the price to pay for a fair stability. Pedals find easily place down, and small cable holders help keeping them in place.
Tilting of tiers cannot be adjusted, however they are comfortable. Nonetheless, if this is a requirement look for something else.
