Keith McMillen 12 Step 3-stars Reviews
It can do only midi notes.
The brand is already famous, and if you are used or have heard about the flexibility of the SoftStep you can easily think that all Keith McMillen products are that versatile. In practice the 12 Step is just a keyboard for your foot. On the buttons arranged as the keys of the piano you can push and tap but they only send MidiNote messages. No CC or anything else. There are some global middi messages that can be sent when changing the patch but if you imagine to use all this buttons for controlling various things, think twice. The device sends only MidiNotes, or bend control messages associated to the played notes. You can not assign other parameters. I hope I'm clear, since they're not. For playing it works very fine, you push, you get the notes.
Another min point is the brightness of the buttons. It seams that you can not turn it off. If you wish to use the device for a theatre play where lighting conditions are part of the script, this will not work, since it shines bright enough to light your room. Quality and finishing of the product are great, same standard as all the products from this brand. Very easy to program the notes with the computer editor. Also connecting an expression pedal is very useful and works as it should.
