Amazing 1176 Compressor

This is a great compressor and sounds great. I'm a massive fan of parallel smashed drums and this is a great low cost solution to do it in the analogue world. The quality is great and it performs really well. Definitely going to get myself a LA-2A from them next.

Lot of sound for small price

Im in love with this KT box sound is awesome little brighter than original one but who cares .

Using it for mono Snare or acc guitar is perfect. Maybe not for lead vocal if you have better option . But why not for Lead vox and Shure SM7B is matched pair !

Fantastic compressor for the price !

WOW....definitely a LARGE stepup from basic compressors.... while nowhere near the original "76" (but to be fair only costing a fraction of that price) this is 100% worth having in your rack either for channel inserts or for adding a subtle overall soft compression to main FOH signals... with a really classy true vintage warmth !

It's really easy to get good tones from the KT76. It sounds great and adds a bit of analog feel to your tracks. I use it on almost everything and the result I get is fantastic. It could be a bit noisy if you push the line amp really hard but this doesn't bother me at all.

It is definitely better than any 1176 plugin I have ever tried.

KT 76 a great starting point in the world of ouboard gear

I wanted for a long time to buy a real hardware compressor for my home studio. So my choices for the budget version of 1176 were either WA76 or KT76. In the end, I chose KT for the price. So far I used it on vocals and a bass guitar. And with no doubt, it sounds better than a plugin. I compared it with the Waves 76 plugin. The difference is subtle but noticeable. I like the simplicity of operation, and in my opinion, this is a good quality build. I cannot tell how it compares to the original but many reviewers are saying it is cleaner and neutral sounding. For some this is a pro, for others, it is a con. You should make your own decision about it. There are plenty of videos online. For me, I can say that it suits my needs. If you want to learn how to use outboard gear in your studio, I'd say this compressor is a good starting point.

Gives u fast compression like the original

Great for the price. It can catch those fast spikes. I have an original and the only difference i can hear is the lack of Colour in the Klark Teknik version. Very much a good compressor to have handy..

Its a BEAST

Use : Mainly using it for recording & Mixing Vocals

Clarity : I simply love the life in it, compare to Plugins.

Pros : Everything.

Cons : Bypass option.

I have worked in few studios with top gears, this gear definitely in par with top gears. for this price range the build quality is top notch, doesn't feel cheap. have fun

Excellent, for the price.

It's got a bit of a high noise floor, but the build quality seems to be excellent. Hopefully, fingers crossed, it holds up over time.

Really good quality for price

The 76-KT is a very good example of a 1176 clone. Build quality is really good, a sturdy unit. For the price you're getting a really nice sounding faithful clone that although maybe doesnt sound as amazing as a real 1176, does an extremely good job for considerably less.

Great sounding compressor!

I've never had a hardware comp before, but it crushes all the plugins. Plugins usually tend to acting weird with hard compression. You can squeeze the signal really hard and it still sounds great.

At first I thought that it is broken cause meter was always in 0 position, but you just have to hit it with input signal hard enough. The only thing you have to do after unboxing is to calibrate the meter on the back which is easy as pie with the provided manual (even without).

Noting like an 1176!

Bought this it looks and feels great the knobs and VU are all very nice. Used it for tracking vocals was smooth enough but it has a lot of hiss when the gain is turned up and sounds quite thin on top, it just doesn't ad any character or depth to the sound, it sounds quite cold, will sell it on and get something better. The KT 2 LA on the other is a great sounding unit, no comparison.

Not bad at all .

These things sound great - The transformers sound lovely, especially for rock or guitars and stuff that's pretty dynamic and full of content. No so sure they work for me as a drum bus compressor.

Basically they are great tracking units. The attack and release controls are no way as good or sensitive as a real 1176.. however (from memory) the overall sound is probably better

Good gear for not much money

Pretty decent 1176-ish compressor, and a good price too

This does pretty much everything you'd expect an 1176 type unit to do. Build quality is good, (at least externally, I've not needed to open it up). Controls feel nice and solid.

Within sensible operation parameters it's not noisy, although at more extreme settings you might have to tread a bit carefully. That's the same for a lot of this type of unit though. I've found it quick and easy to get decent results when using it with a preamp as part of an input chain, but as an insert on a mix channel or on a send for parallel compression I've found it helps to pay close attention to the level of the signal heading towards the unit's input.

Given the same fairly specific control set, this certainly delivers compression in the style of an 1176 but it perhaps isn't as "characterful" as some similar units so I find myself needing to push it a little bit to achieve some colouration as well as compression. Nevertheless it's a very useful piece of kit and I think it's a big step up from many 1176 style plugins. I've used it on a whole variety of sources and it's given me particularly good results on bass guitar and powerful vocalists, adding both body and bite.

There's little reason to disregard this if you're after this style of compressor. especially when you consider attractive price. I may well get some more!

Loud Hissing Noise!

Immediately after first using this product I noticed an incredibly loud hiss that would only get quieter if the input or output knobs were near off. I tried different microphones, preamps, monitors, A/D converters and nothing ended up working. I even tried removing all inputs from the unit and the hiss still remained. In general the volume of the hiss was about equal to or more than the volume of my actual input. It sounds pretty much like white noise. I had ordered two units and both of them have the same issue. Chances are I received two compressors that were part of the same bad batch - I'm not completely sure. Its quite a shame considering how the build quality is amazing and this problem seems relatively uncommon, though I would still be cautious.

A steady competitor for sure.

I bought this compressor to use with the Klark Teknik KT2A, as I need 2 outboard comps to track vocals in series. I've had both units for a short bit of time, but for what it's worth, I think they're truly fantastic!

Pros: Right of the bat, SOLID and very sturdy construction. The knobs all feel pretty damn good, the VU meter is great and the whole thing just feels like it could survive quite a beating.

I've had the opportunity to try a UA1176 before, and while the Klark Teknik doesn't yield identical results, it delivers way more than you'd expect from a 200€ 1176 clone. I would love to see this thing compared to the Warm/Stam/Heritage units!

Compared to most 1176s I've tried, the KT76 does feel a BIT more clean than what you'd expect from a character compressor, but there are some subtle qualities it brings out from sound, especially if paired with a solid mic and preamp.

Cons: It is worth mentioning that while the unit performs very well, it can get a bit noisy. Cranked hard enough, there is a audible hiss coming trough and while 99% of the time, I won't be cranking the unit that hard, it's still there and can be bit of a pain.

Another thing I'd like to mention is that for those who don't know what a fixed threshold compressor is, this might be a bit of a pain to learn, since I couldn't really find anything in the manual to indicate that.

Overall, I'm very happy with my KT76, and would recommend it to absolutely anyone. It's great value for money and will give you fantastic results if you can't afford a UA.

Excellent price quality ratio

Great option for a hands on experience with a classic compressor.

FET compression like it should

Great FET compressor sounding very similar to the other black 1176 style compressors I have used! I made a video showcasing its sounds which you can watch through my YouTube channel called Sonic Circuitry.

it's not an urei but it's not a plug-in between the two

Let's write the first thoughts about the 1176. Once the thd is on the ceiling level, the face of the face to face the face to the distortion of the sature resuscitating dirty cream sound blue or black is not a UREI. However, as a plugin, there is a slight color that does not resonate with transparency, but I cannot say zero transparently clean in the first seconds. The only real bomb I've seen over 1176 plugins I did not try the test. Although all the gain stags are equal, the plugin version was working a little faster than all the 1176s, although all attack and release parameters were equal. The clarity of the clip was a little better than the ÇATTTT that the buffer was not breaking the clark. In addition, connoisseurs know that in 1176 20 ratio is the fourth button from the top limiter mode is 20 to 1 works. other switches are compressor mode. Again in the limiter mode, the clip works more shaky. The plug-in versions are flying too early, and the music is all that I hear. I have tested it in vocal-kick-snare-synthbass-bass gtr-bendir-cajon. When we think that a plug-in money was a business, we can say that 1 piece of the plug is more understandable and quiet. A Urei is definitely not a plug-in like a plug-in, but it's not working in the meantime. ALINIR :) does not regret, does not regret.
