Even as for cheapest model, I expected better sound from Korg

This is very basic and simple drum machine. Which is expected, cause it's the cheapest in the line of Korg machines. So I did not expect big variety of functions or patterns. BUT I expected more or less good sound from KORG. It's Korg, come on! But the sound is unnatural, wooden, like old-school midi. Sound is the same for all rythms. There is no difference in sound for jazz, dance or rock. Just from this point, I am really disappointed. I will give Korg a second chance with more expensive model.

Does the job

Kind of old school, but does the job and it is handy!

A mistake of a purchase

I thought I would use this for accompaniment and practice, but it is nothing more than a glorified metronome with no room for growth.

Mainly, the rhythms and sounds are not very interesting or inspiring, and there is no easy way to really create better ones.

I'm sure some people would find it adequate or even useful, but I have found it limiting and it has been relegated to a drawer and never used anymore.

Just try and you will stay with it!

Guys, you need to just try. It is not one of this all in one devices that you have already on the market but...... when you already have a lot of equipment from your old days and you would like to make your practicing more fruitful, just try it! You will stay with it!

Digital drummer

I was looking for a simple drum machine which can provide me with diffrent paterns and typs of drums. It`s a great machine and you can even dial in your own preset.

Great thing is that you can buy an extension pedal (two of them), which can be used for footswitch to dial another diffrent drum pattern for chorus.

I use the Korg Rhythm for band rehearsal or at home for private exercise. The Korg offers you a in build speaker which is great for home use or an output to PA.

Only troubles were the handling with the machine. I needed some time how to play or change the presets, but once you get it, it`s preaty simple.

The build is very small and light so it alwas on the road with me.

Good value for your money

According to the price you get a good drum machine. Perfect for practice at home or on the scene. Connect to PA system and you get a good sound.

boom tishhh boom boom tish

I love this little box of fun. It's not pro-quality and isn't advertised as such. It's meant to be fun and it is.

the sounds are decent and for a small band or individual wanting cheap basic live backing or backing for rehearsal it will do just fine.

I use it for personal jamming and a little recording. (great result with eq / reverb / compression.)

The rhythms are basic and don't vary wildly from preset to preset... the fills are as fun and kitsch as the main rhythms and kick in every 2 bars.

programming your own beats and making chains is easy enough (though it did take me a few reads of the manual to figure it out at first)

there is a small degree of velocity sensitivity which is useful.

My only bug bear is I would have liked to have seen a WALTZ selection like on old analogue machines... but never mind.

like those analogue machines, there are some jazz presets which you will never use.

I have read elsewhere that there is no tap / beat sync feature and no BPM setting.. which is true... would have been nice but as mentioned, it's not a pro machine... so not really an issue....what it is... is bloody good lo-fi fun. I love it.

oh, only slight grouch.(apart from no waltzes)..when you hit START there seems to be just a tiny (but noticable) delay til the beat starts, whereas with a foot switch it kicks in straight away.
