Cable
I dont like the cable connection. If I move it can come loose.
Comfort is a mystery
So these are great. Well padded, and fit tight to your ears. Good bass response and fairly flat overall.
They do great as monitors for recording, great for reference and good for mixing.
Replaceable cable is great, included length is HUGE. And there is a detachable volume control which is again great for monitoring.
Maybe it’s a bit harsh but I do find the top of my head starting to hurt long before my ears get tired. Disclaimer, I do have a big head but they are a firm fit.
very good for the price! i use this headphone on my homestudio for 3 years now. it's holding very good.
i would definetly recommend this product if you want something in a cheap price range and still expect quality.
100% worth the price.
Great!
I use KRK KNS 8400 for mixing in my studio! Great sound!!!!
Great balanced sound
If you want unbiased mixes, these are great. Got a 2nd pair as after 2 years of hard use the ear cups started to wear out.
Good but...
The bass reference is not good enough.
Missing a bit of low
Love the fact that they match super with my KRK active monitors. Earpads dry out quite fast. Little cracks in the material. Not too serious yet, but will probably fall apart in another 5 years or so. They lack a bit in the lows, but I do not mind that too much. I like the natural sound.
surgical instrument for mastering
I've been trying to consolidate project for some time in Beyerdynamics DT770Pro250 and on Yamaha HS7 speakers. Every time I finished mastering and send it to another system to play it sounded harsh and overloaded in HMF range. Or conversely when I try to add compression or spectrum shaper in that range it's becoming too much dull. With KNS8400 this job become very easy.
Moreover frist time you may notice that these cans not for long pleasing listening because all sounds stand upfront your ears in comparison with Beyerdynamics where midrange is more laid back. But after day or two of warming this effect comes to naught.
Also KRKs are 9dbmore sensitive and loud and have more noise isolation. So recording loud vocalist will not be a problem even driving headphones straight from the USB interface without dedicated HP amp.
I recommend KRK KNS8400 to all who need closed headphones for mixing and mastering .
Refreshing
These things are amazing for the price. Are they going to compete against high end headphones? Of course not. But I doubt you'll find much better at this price point. Frequency response is pretty flat and the range is surprisingly good. There isn't much isolation from outside noise which is a drawback but for me that's not a problem since a lot of my mixing is done at night with no other noise going on around me. They have a bit of weight to them but not enough to be uncomfortable even after extended sessions. In fact this surprised me because they're the first headphones of this type that I don't find uncomfortable after extended usage. For the price you can't go wrong.
Great buy!
Buying headphones or speakers online is a gamble. It's always advisable to hear them first before buying. My gamble paid off with these great sounding headphones. There is also a bit more clarity in the midrange compared to my old Bose set. They fit nicely over my ears and the balance through the frequencies is good. The build quality is excellent and compares with my KRK Rokit5 monitors. They come with a very nice storage/transport bag and it looks like extremely durable cable with plug. Useful if it ever needs to be replaced. An added accessory is an extension cable with volume control. Well done KRK!
