KRK RP5 RoKit Classic 5-stars Reviews
Top class monitors for this price. If you're building home studio buy this ones and you won't be dissapointed.
Amazing
Best monitor I have herd in years
KRK RP5 RoKit G3( Great for the Price)
I was amazed after listening to these monitors! I would recommend getting monitor isolation pads such as the ones by Auralex. They really help reduce the bass buildup that occur when the monitors are placed directly on your table/desk. And if you still have some extra bass frequencies, just turn the bass frequency knob down one or two. I have my monitors in my bedroom studio, and they still shook the house at the -6db setting! The best part is how it doesn't distort the sound when the volume increases like others do! I was amazed at the clarity with these monitors. So if you are recording in a small to medium room, these monitors should still get the job done!
Greate sound, crispy hi and warm lo
Easy set up, clear sound. love it!
Best for beginners
It sounds good, has a reasonable price and good build quality.
Pros:
- Sounds good and clear
- Supports RCA, XLR and TRS
- Solid but good design and build quality
- Reasonable price
- Adjustable volume, low and high knobs on the back
Cons:
- On/Off button is on the back
- It does not cover the very low frequencies
In short: it's perfect for beginners.
standard
Pretty basic and good sounding monitors. Sound great after setting it up properly and placing the in the right place in the room. The sound is reach and full. Some people say that it lacks low end at some very low frequencies, but i think it depends on music style you're making, cos in indie rock a don't hear anything missing.
it's kind of stupid, because you can get this information carefully reading the specs, but i was a bit amused about it's weight. And also there is no cable for connecting you audiointerface or what do you use, so be careful don't forget about it as well.
Perfect for Home Mixing and Monitoring
Overall:
To start of with my room has weird angles but i placed the monitors so the back of them were facing straight wall. So initially i wasn't expecting a great sound to come out from them. (This is also without any room insulation.) However despite all those flaws in my room, the sound was amazing to say the least, it was clear, perfect bass response and every frequency was clear.
Features:
I was indecisive between the M-Audio BX8 D2 and these KRK's. The reason i liked the M-Audio was due to its 8'' woofer and i like my bass nice and loud. However the downside of those monitors were the lack of features. I knew the sound i got was the sound i got and couldn't alter it. THEN i looked at the KRK, had all the features i wanted however it had a 5'' woofer. After much reading i chose these and i was NOT disappointed. Cant believe how such a little woofer can create so much bass. And with the added pads under the KRK they sounded 10x better. (t.akustik Iso-Pad 5)
Use:
I use them for all my work. However these are for close monitoring, so they may be insanely loud for their size but you can't expect to have a party with these. On occasion i play some music in them and jam with my kit and the monitors are still manage to overcome the loudness from the drum kit. But my main use is for my electronic/chilled rock in Logic and Pro Tools, and for that its a beauty.
Pro's:
- Amazing sound quality, very sound
- Very well built
- Great features
- Interior padding
- Great Bass coming from 5'' woofer
- AMAZING Price
Cons:
- Cant find any so far and I've had them for a few months
Told my friend to buys these as well and he too was not disappointed. Loved them.
Recommend 100%
Fantastic
After waiting for a couple of days they finally arrived. Two "heavy" weight champions how I called them. Fully functional and kicking hard without mercy. They deliver really smooth and clean sound with small dose of heaviness (of course it depends of what kind of music you are in too but more or less the sound is great) . There are those who complain that it has a small note of hardness in sound more then it should have in comparison with JBL monitors, honestly I don't feel it not yet. Overall I am completely satisfied with my pairs of KRK RP5.
Doing great job
I've been using Krk RP8 RoKit studio monitors at audio engineering school. I decided to try a smaller version RP5 for my own home studio and they're doing great job.
I strongly recommend them for smaller rooms.
very good indeed
I'm not talking too much about this.
These monitors have become quite a standard, and there's a reason for that. They're very good quality made. The sound is just beautiful, warm...
Just one thing: they enhance low frequencies a little too much, so one has to keep that in mind while mixing, otherwise one can have some awful surprises listening to the mixes in other equipment :)
Good speakers
These are great sounding speakers, just a pity that the logo was missuing off the front of one of them which I am now waiting for a replacement - but other than that, they will not disappoint in terms of sound
Clean and powerful sound
I use them for my productions in my own house studio and I'm really satisfied with the sound, especially the low frequencies. My genre is mostly house and techno music. I really liked the feature of switching off automatic after a period of no use. The volume is more than adequate for a medium scale homeparty. I definitely recommend them for beginner studios.
Great monitor
There is no need to put any rewiew od those. The best thing for the price. Just make sure that you buy 2 pieces :-)
One of the best things out there
I purchased the RoKit`s based on reviews and this year of usage has proven to be great. They have a clear and crisp high end as well as a rather punchy bass response. I do not have any cons for these studio monitors, they look, sound and feel great. I would recommend these anytime, since the price is also amazing.
Sound
Really good sound quality, had one already so bought another one, living in Ireland so got extra cable for uk socket for free
Buying 3 More
My first experience with KRK monitors was in fact with the larger 8inch cones and they blew me away. I knew i wanted them.
So i went for the smaller 5inch cones, the KRK RP5 RoKit G3 and what a great purchase they have been. I bought them as part of a bundle and they were great value for money.
Weighing just under 6kgs they are very lightweight for active monitors. i absolutely love the features incorporated into these monitors with multiple inputs giving me plenty of options and also allows for me to be able use these monitors with my Mackie Mix5 mixer which only has Jack outs.
Because I often use these monitors with this small mixer and its great to have the ability to adjust the highs and lows on the monitors themselves as i often feel im losing some high end running it through the mixer and also with my latest edition to my home studio, the KRK 10inch Sub, i have taken some of the low end out of the monitors to compensate for the sub. Having the option to do this is one of the reasons i purchased these monitors.
One of my favorite things about the monitors is the auto standby feature. an excellent addition. I also think that what your getting for the price is undoubtedly excellent value for money, which is why ill be buying three more to complete a 5.1 set up. Cant wait!!!
Exactly as expected
There is a reason so many studios use these. They are fantastic and perfect for my home studio. The sound is crystal clear and all frequencies carry through perfectly. Couldn't be happier
The best start-up home-studio monitor money can buy
These monitors are compact as monitors go, but they really pack a punch especially on the bass end. You can have a full spectrum of instruments going through and they are all really clear and also very loud-It has great low end considering the speakers are not large. I chose these as I am working in a small room in a corner.
High and low end frequencies can be adjusted in 1 dB increments, from -2dB to +2 dB to compensate for room set-up/acoustics. For example, I have them placed on desktop in a corner so I had to dampen the bass frequency to -1dB as the bass is emphasised in this case. It has all the inputs that you would expect from a studio monitor: balanced jack, XLR or RCA (unbalanced).
Fantastic bargain for price. I don't think you could buy a better studio monitor for a start-up home project. Don't forget item is priced singly-order two not one like I did! Having said that, I spent about 6 months mixing in mono on a single speaker with great results.
I intend to purchase monitor stands with isolation pads (bundles are available) and I expect even better results.
Great Budget Monitors
After some research, I finally decided to buy these monitors, and in good time I did. It sounds really good and I believe that in that price range, it's the top of the market. A couple of friends told me I would have a problem with the low end, but with adjustable low end volume and a room with good acoustic treatment, I must say I have not encountered that problem. I totally recommend these monitors for any budget homestudio, it will blow you away!!
Amazing for Home Studio
I work as sound designer and composer in a small home studio, with higly professional instruments. Near fields are a true challenge, especially when you design patches and/or produce music that other composers and listeners will use in their rooms: so, you must find a truly good compromise.
My advice is to buy the very best sound card available on the market (no compromise here, please...), then come the KRK RPC Rokit 5 in the game, and it's been a very nice surprise to see that the factory setting is already perfect for my set up (I placed them as distant as possible from the walls).
Perfectly built in a solid case, flat enough to mix and master, these speakers let me hear the spaces (distant-near, left-right, reverbs, delays) and the balance between instruments without stressing my ears, which means I can work for many hours without getting tired with the speakers quite near to me.
After using Rokit 5 for a while, I see my mixes and masters tended to be a little bit too low-end oriented, so I learned to give them a bit more high-end without fear.
Yet, of course, if you have a high end sound card and professional studio headphones, you will mix and master with no problems using these small speakers.
Of course, expensive and bigger speakers may be better than what we find in this price range, yet.... they cost a lot more, and in a small room (near field listening is a world on its own, and the "right" equipment to buy should be evaluated carefully) they might not the perfect choice. Bass traps may not help so much, unless you buy the very expensive ones... So, think about it!
I higly recommend these speakers for the great quality/price balance, and for the surprisingly good sound in a small home studio.
