La Bella 760FS Deep Talkin Bass Reviews
Best flats I've tried
La Bella has a good reputation for a reason.
These strings provide a good tonal balance, clarity and articulation down the neck, and a deep pleasant tone.
These strings gave me that motown tone I was looking for. They are also quite pleasant to the fingers. I would recommend them on a passive P-bass with rosewood fretboard, tone rolled down to 30-40%.
Deep Talkin' - nice players
Excellent set of strings! This was my first LaBella set but I will definitely consider them for my other (contra-)basses. Used this particular set on my (first!) fretless 4-string and I'm blown away by the quality. I will start experimenting with these on fretted bass on the next String Replacement Day.
ONe of the best flatwounds available
These strings have an excellent tone. They stay in tune and have just the right amount of tension. Once I started playing flat wound strings, I could never go back to round wounds.
Jamerson sound
Long lasting one of the best flat wounds around. Especially if you are after the more vintage Jameson sound. Great on P-bass or a semi hallow bass.
Great strings
Used those on Rickenbacker 4001, sounding great both on recordings and during live gigs.
Exactly what I was looking for
My first flatwounds, for my precision. Exactly as expected for playability and tone.
Quality thump
I just replaced an old set of these that were on my P-Bass for years. They still sounded great and stayed in tune, I just felt it was time to put on a new set. They're a little bright when they're new but it doesn't take long for them to settle into that flat wound sound you know and love. The quality of these strings is very high. They sound excellent, feel completely smooth and give you that thump. They are a bit on the expensive side, but you do pay for quality.
Too high tension
Be aware that the tension is super high which makes playing really hard. I experience these strings feel sticky, I would recommend the sound, but not playability, I would like to try to .103 strings…
Edit: after a while I can say I got used to these. Tension still quite high, but it plays super slick!
Smooth slinky and sound
The only string to put on your bass if you want to sound smooth and slinky.
Touching these is a tactile delight, impossible to not sound funky, impossible to not look more handsome, impossible to not sound more attractive to the opposite sex. All for £50. Amazing
My first flats, not my last
Although I'm hoping they will last me a while! Great feel and great tone.
Just what the doctor ordered
Just awesome.
Used it on a cheap P-BASS and there it was, the sound i've been looking for my whole life.
Oh and they are versatile.
I actually found them even more versatile than the clingy dreadful roundwound strings that are dead and of no use after 2 months of serious swetty playing.
La Bella lasted for over a year of professional concert, live streaming and studio gigs.
I'll never go back.
Wish I knew earlier
These strings are amazing. I got these to get closer to the Motown 'plonk' sound; a warm but not too resonant bass sound, perfect to assist drums. The La Bella's deliver the job. I feel the sound is like the real thing (combined with a P bass) In one word: amazing.
Great flats
A little trebly when new, so you need to have some patience. String tension and gauge is ideal for me, and the sound and playability matches my old jazz bass perfectly. Beautifully polished, but sometimes that can make them feel sticky.
First set of flatwounds, play dubby stuff, easier to get tone I want compared to the round wounds I was playing obviously. Happy with these.
Best flats I've played
Great old school flats, a little tight and sometimes a bit harder to play than others but they make up for it with the sound.
Huge tone
Perfect strings with great tone and very smooth feeling of them
Magic!
It's all there: the thump, the foundation, the clarity. These should come from factory on any precision bass.
Great Strings
This string set is a perfect match for my P-Bass. After adding some foam under the strings close to the bridge i plugged it on my Ampeg BA210 and the sound that came out was pleasant and warm.
You can't go wrong with this set if you are into the classic Motown/Stax sound of the 60s/70s
One of the strings had a buzz and broke after a short period.
After I installed these strings I noticed a buzz in the upper register on the G-string. I tweaked the setup but nothing changed, still buzzing. Everything pointed towards a fret issue (was a brand new cheap bass that I'd never played before) but I couldn't really locate the problem so I just ended up giving the bass a complete fret levelling job. No difference, still buzzing in the same area. Tried fine tuning the setup a bit more and then the G-string just broke.
Installed new strings (Pyramid Gold) and the buzz was gone.
I love the sound of LaBella flats but this set clearly had a faulty G-string. Very disappointing and a waste of time and money.
Great strings- this is my sound!
These are perfect for someone who have the same opinion about the treble-ish sound of roundwounds. Love these!
