LD Systems MEI 1000 G2 5-stars Reviews
high quality product
great. high quality.
upgrated model from 100 to 1000
the "focus" function is very usefull!
Great basic IEM system
If you're not looking for a high-end system then this is ideal. The quality is good for the low end price. It's more rugged than cheaper systems and has all the basic functions you need. The body pack should last well and with decent ear pieces it sounds fine.
Used for years
Great budget wireless IEM system. I've used this for years and it's never missed a beat. I'm sure there are better sounding, fuller featured options on the market, but from the point of view of a working musician this has been consistently dependable.
Note: Ive never used the ear buds that came with... they're probably terrible sounding!? I've always used quality IEMs (at least triple drivers) and with custom moulded ear tips. The buds you use will make a massive difference!
Does the job well
I use it for LIVE and practice. I'm a vocalist. I used Shure 215's with this, and then later upgraded to JHAudio JHX3X custom IEMs.
Sound quality is OK. Mostly depending on sound isolation of the IEM's used.
Pros (for me):
*Does the job very well. Tested up to 4x units parallel, Most in my band use this model.
*good price to performance ratio.
*Stereo.
*Basic, easy to set up.
*Had no Range or dropout problems. Even reaching far away backstages.
*Never had problems with new or fully charged batteries. Lasts at-least 4h, depending on use. (volume)
Cons:
*When the batteries are low, it makes load unpleasant noise. (But I guess its good that it does not just die). Noise stops when you turn volume down on receiver pack. At that point, has enough juice to finish the song. But the "Warning" noise is terrible.
*Eats basic batteries. Does not come with rechargeables. I bought rechargeable batteries, so each session has fully charged set.
*Plastic receiver. Mine looks like it been dragged behind a car, but it still works.
*I am worried about antenna on receiver, it looks not very sturdy, so I've been looking after it.
* had to hack the mounts and create custom brackets to have two units fit in 1U rack slot. With Brackets provided, can only have one unit per 1U.
* The added earphones do make a sound and can be plugged in. That's about it. Poor sound isolation. But better then nothing in case of emergency.
Overall, after few year of using it, It still works, And I don't feel like upgrading, since I'm not a professional.
Very good product
We have long wanted to buy this product. Convenient and easy to use. Good quality. For this amount, just a wonderful device.
Excellent
I've been using it in venues, 2 years now, never failed. Sound is smooth. Find a good pair of in-ear monitors and you're set.
Good system for the price !
I own 3 MEI 1000 G2 systems, all set up in a rack. They serve as our main live IEM rig and until this day it works good. Been touring around in Romania and we didn't have any major problem with interferences.
It's a good price/quality system and it can get work done as good as other systems that are a little bit more expensive than this one.
Pros:
- Good price/quality
- Comes with 19" rack adapters, screws and front mounting antenna kit
- Comes in a plastic case with inlay foam which you can carry around if you're not using the system in a rack
- Rack transmitter is well built and the screen offers the info you need to know for the system price range
- Good working distance
Cons:
- The beltpack receiver is made of plastic and the clamp holes tend to break especially if you're active on stage and do a lot of jumping around, same problem with antenna
- High frequencies ( above 10-12 kHz ) tend to sound more like a pink noise than the actual reproduction of what is sent to you mix
The best system for your budget!
The system is very well built, I've using it for three years and it works perfectly, I use to sweat a lot and the bodypack receiver still works fine.
The sound is not as Hi-Fi as other units like Sennheiser E3, compared with that unit the MEI1000 has a bit more mid-range and a bit more bass, for me its great a love that kind of sound!
Its a great unit for the price and has a lot of features, I use it in stereo and works perfectly fine, but there are a couple of things that would make this unit excel, the first one is a scan function to search for free frequencies, and the other is the receiver has a equalizer but you can change the parameters it tights a bit the sounds.
As a conclusion a great unit very durable, with a great sound and great features that stands face to face with options 3 times more pricey.
IEM setup.
Really happy with this purchase , for the larger gigs i do this has come in real handy, giving me my sound but closer to me ears!, after my 3 hour shows and being so close to my PA each night ( Bose L1 model II ) , my ears can get fatigued 2 hours in... so this system has really helped me in this regard.
4 stars only because don't have a automatically clear frequency scan. All the rest are very good!.
Superb for this price!
I use the MEI 1000 for a couple of years now. Extremely reliable. In combo with my Westtone 5 drivers this LD Systems is a complete winner. It has a good solid sound and never let me down at a gig! We play death metal and for this price I can only say! do IT!!!
Good value for money
I use it and totally love it
Excelent product for the price.
Excelent Price/Quality relation! Included LD headphones are garbage but, when used with good in-ear set (such as shure SE-215) it's a grate system. Much better than Shure PSM200 (which is more expensive) and very similar to my old Senneiser IEM EW300 G2 (which costed more than twice).
I did not compare with more expensive IEMs like shure PSM300, PSM 600, Senn. EW300, etc. But that's a different market! For most musicians these are more than enough.
I will buy more for the rest of the band (7 elements band).
DANIELE VITALI
The product is really good, tested in several live sessions, it has guaranteed an optimum reception and a very good sound quality without noise.
Great for the money!
Using this for live gigs with a band, it holds it's own with 9 (nine!) other wireless units on stage, breakups and clicks don't happen, battery life is good (compared to similar products), range is great (for me it worked on well on distances larger than written in the manual), I haven't really explored all the possibilities of the system, besides the limiter, which works well.. The carrying case and rack ears make it also a dream for transport!
The only cons would be that the included 'phones are pretty bad, the sound lacks a tiny bit of the lower bass and there is a little bit of crosstalk and noise (a tiny bit).. all in all, great!
Not bad for the money...
Pretty good for a first in-ear system. Couple of things. To reduce system on the receiver end, turn up the gain on the transmitter and turn down the volume on the receiver. The signal to noise ratio increases significantly and the music seems much fatter.
Another thing to be aware of is cell phones. Having a phone will result in interference at times. Not disasterous, but can be annoying.
Lock your controls on the receiver. Trust me on this.
On the plus side, this system is made very well and reliable. The limiter function is a real life saver, especially if you have an unruly drummer. I don't really have any complaints considering what I paid. Recommended!
MEI 1000 G2
It's my first in-ear system. I had never used one before.
What I like most: The price is more than OK, because it allows you to enter the in-ear world without going broke. The sound is quite all right, for my taste. The headphones included are OK, they reproduce well the output of the mixer. I use it for gigs as singer using playback. It is ideal in such a setup, it provides an ideal control of the vocals.
The overall quality and the great finish. Plus, it's easy to use and the price is OK. The sounds is all right, slightly distorted, but it's OK. It's a delight to hear yourself well! :-)
I don't like: The volume control on the receiver isn't tapered and it can be easily moved unintentionally. The ear cups aren't something to brag about.
Sorry for my bad english.:D
LD Systems MEI 1000 G2 (Rock band use)
Hi!
I think this product is very good. Specially considering the relatively low price.
Personally I did a choice of buying more expensive dual driver ear monitors
to use with this device.
The ear monitors that follow this package are low end single drivers with bad sound.
but the actual transmitter and receiver are great.
I have not had any connection problems or problems of any kind in various places and possible sources of interference.
Always works great.

LD Systems MEI 1000 G2
Amazing buy! Very happy with this product. I strongly recommend this to everyone who decided to go on in-ear monitors.
It is simple to operate, has plenty of futures. The range is undeniable!
I have used it at a couple of gigs so far and it was set to one frequency the whole time and I didn't have any issues, no breaks, no hiss, no interuptions, nothing! And our bass player is using the same product and we don't have any problems using it together.
Everything works like advertised!
Again, strongly recommended
LD MEI1000G2 In Ear Monitoring
After struggling to hear vocals when playing in the band, I decided to look into in ear monitoring systems and after reading several revues on entry level systems I decided to purchase the LD MEI1000G2. The unit is well made and easy to use with a selection of frequencies. It has made a massive difference to performances allowing me to hear vocals perfectly and I would certainly recommend this product for musicians looking for an entry level solution for in ear monitoring.
