Much stronger and more useful than it looks - low profile but very handy!

I bought this on a bit of a whim, as it kept coming up on searches for small mic stands (that I use a lot of). I had assumed it would probably not be very stable. I was pleasantly surprised to find it sits very sturdily as an instrument mic stand for a seated musician. Add a K&M 18872 extension rod or a K&M 21431 Mini Boom Arm and you can even get it close to standing height (though the boom can make it topple if you extend it too far). An added use I have for it is as a lightweight tripod for Go Pros or phones (by adding a thread adaptor.) If I want more height, I sit it on an IKEA-style stool (the ones with the holes). The little tailpiece at the back sits neatly in one of the holes making it very sturdy. These are so light and compact when folded up, its almost worth having one in the car for emergencies.

Does what it says on the tin

Simple Pop 'n' Lock open/close design. Rugged design means it'll take a pretty good beating without breaking or falling.Mainly I've used it for micing bridges on cellos or floor stacked amps, live and studio.

Con 1: Even though it's pretty compact when folded out, its set design means it can be a bit of a nuisance if floor space is a premium (e.g. if you're micing a kit on a drum riser just big enough for the kit itself). Being able to adjust the angle of the arm would help with this.

Con 2 (nit picking): A bit more length on the extension would make it ideal. You can work around by attaching a boom but that begins to defeat the purpose of buying this product.

But ultimately, for the price it's a solid product and you can trust it with some expensive gear attached.

It's alright, but not amazing.

It's definately usable to get a microphone on front of an amp, but it's not the best.

the pole with the mic screw of my stand was a little loose, meaning that if you'd crew on the microphone, you could keep turning it. whatever was supposed to stop that just didn't do a good job. It was still sturdy enough to prevent the mic from moving on it's own though, so it's not that big of a deal.

The stand is pretty stable, if you can get it into the right position, you don't really have to worry about it anymore.

There isn't a whole lot of room for positioning though. It would have been nice if it was able to go lower, or if it had an extra pivet so you could get it into some other positions that are now unreachable.

Quality Material, Poor Stability

I was disappointed with the stability of this stand. If you use a microphone of average weight, it will dip down, which kind of defeats the purpose.

Great shortscale stand

Perfect for shortscale use, e.g. bass drum, bottom snare mic or guitar amp/cab.

Stable, reliable Mic stand!

Does exactly what it's needed, ideal for positioning the microphone near sound sources that are low to the ground (e.g. guitar or bass cabs).

Never tried it with very heavy microphones, but after some use it still proves stable and holds reliably my Beyerdynamic Opus 99, a hefty 370 grams (around 13oz.).

BD Mic Stand

It's a great little stand! The one issue I have is that when it is folded up, the tension nut to tighten the mic scratches the paint of the diagonal legs... Like I said, great little mic stand...!

Millenium DS-30 Bass Drum Mic Stand

Nothing too it. Great for the t-bone BD-200 Bass Drum Mic ... I tend to point the mic at the beater to pick up the crack and this stand is small enough not to get in the way. Packs away really small. Some tips folks: use a swan/goose neck to make it more flexible for positioning. The locking system is a bit weak if you put weight on it so, either drill a 1/4" (5mm) hole through the plastic mount and the pole and use a pin, or unbolt the stem and turn it around. It won't fold away quite so short but it will not fold up with weight again.

Great limited use mic stand.

I love the simplicity and the size of this stand.

Very easy to carry around, very easy to set up, not much can go wrong.

Found out it is too tall to mic up a 1x12 cabinet but for bass drum or a 4x12 is great!

Not very stable

It doesn't really do it's job very well, with a shure microphone in it, it's not very stable and keeps falling to the sides because it can't stand the weight.

Bought it specially for recording while travelling and out of studio. The tripod is unable to hold my mic with shock mount and pop-filter. It simply folds.

Useful desk tripod

I was looking for such table stand for my home studio, this is a great product, well crafted, and very stable.

This only thing is you cannot adjust the angle.

Otherwise, no regret, good product/cheap price

Compact & Good Quality

I was really happy with this, I didn't have much desk space to assign to a mic stand but this is nice and compact and doesn't take up much space, it keeps the mic at a nice level on the desk and it suits what I needed it for.

Too weak for some mics without modification

I modified my stand as it is too weak to even hold up a Beyer 201. Great stand but a bit droopy.

Very practical table mic stand.

I use the Millenium DS-30 as part of my recording workstation with a fairly small and light condenser mic. The stand is very strong and steady once the legs are locked into place. It is quite heavy which makes it good and stable. It can also be extended slightly for adjustment. It will work fine as a floor stand for amplifiyers also.

Great product great price.

The only reason it got 4 stras for quality is because the lead clip snapped the first time I used it.

A very good short microphone stand

I have purchased it to put it in front of a 4x12 guitar cabinet. It is very stable and you have anough adjustability to get the sound you need. 5/8 inch tread so you need a adapter to 3/8 inch microphone clamp. Well build and does the job.

Millenium make great solid gear. always happy when i grab some Millenium gear

Good basic mic stand

I'm a DJ and obviously I needed a mic stand for my microphone.

This DS-30 stand is overall pretty goood

Only thing which might cause trouble, is the "neck" to fall down if it's set up too high and leaned forward towards the DJ.

it is ok, but not really handy

It is stable, it holds well the mic, but somehow it is weird to position and one does not have the freedom to position the mic exactly in every possible desired position. Also cables or other stuff on the floor makes it even more difficult to position, because it occupies a relatively large surface and it is a risk to stumble on cables, floor outlets etc. I probably would have been much happier with a traditional but small stand. Either case, it is useful.
