Tiny but very, very mighty.

I've been using this microphone daily for many months now, upgraded from a rode NT2, and although I found it hard to justify the price given the lack of accessories and features, once I heard the sound it output I was very pleasantly surprised, the deep smooth low-end without any muddiness, as well as non-piercing top-end made it very easy to listen to and EQ. the self-noise is fine at 12db, too. My only complaint is that this microphone is horrible with shock rejection! Thankfully there are good quality shockmounts for about 30-40$, though I feel Neumann should be including one especially considering the price. Overall, highly recommended! Do not underestimate this little fella.

I like it better than the TLM103

Very nice and smooth upper-mid registry, even more so than the TLM103 I think. As the cheapest LDC mic Neumann has to offer, I think every professional mic collection should have 2 of these for all-around instrument/vocal use.

Small and sturdy enough to be used live as well as in studio setups. As a fixed cardioid pattern mic the off-axis sound leaves something to be desired, but the on-axis sound is a LOT bang for the buck when you know where to use it. The (plastic?) fixing ring seems it could break at some point, but even the older ones I have been going great.

I use these for drum over/underheads, choir vocals, lead/bg vocals when recording, also works as an acoustic guitar mic since the upper mids are so smooth. Maybe not for a super bright Taylor etc. because of the lower resonance freq most LDC's have.

Great all-around condenser!

Superb Quality Mic

Using this for vocals and Podcasting and it's superb! If you're looking to spend a bit of cash and really upgrade your sound then you're looking at an excellent piece of equipment.

Build Quality is top-notch, You'll be taken aback by the size of it, it's very small, but the build is rock solid. You'll be hard-pressed to break this one unless you're a complete idiot. Weight-wise it's very balanced as well, not top or bottom heavy at all.

The frequency response is very flat giving you a super warm sound. It lacks the extremely detailed high-end that the 103 has but unless that's such a requirement for you that it's worth the extra 300-400 euro spend, stick with this and you'll be set for whatever you use it for.

It loses a star for features because it doesn't really have any. This is the only con of this Mic, it's a Cardioid pattern mic and that's all. If you're expecting or in need of alternative patterns this mic doesn't have them. That said, the sound quality out of this is well worth it.

This mic may seem expensive but for a Neumann it's quite low price and anything with the Neumann logo on it is guaranteed to be excellent. It's such a good mic!

Perfect sound, but lacking a couple of options

I ordered several mics from several brands ranging from 300-900 euros, and this one came out top for sound for me personally. It even beat out its big brother, the TLM103!

I love the warmth and presence of it, and i'm a professional voiceover artist. I only miss the ability for a low cut and some pattern options. Bit of a shame, but it can't spoil it!

Great for my home studio!

I would definitely recommend it to all beginners with a bigger budget but also to more experienced producers/singers. I've had it for three years and I'm not even considering switching it with another one. Sooo worth the money!

good microphone

Very good mic. Only limitation is the fixed polarity, and that is a very minor niggle.

I like it

I use it to record voices, acoustic guitars and drums (as an overhead - Glyn Johns technique) . It is well balanced! I loved it immediately!

Pros: small size, light weight, quality, frequency response.

Cons: So far I have not found something, maybe the price (but is a Neumann)

good for beginners

tlm102 has flat frequency response with slightly high freq. boost. But I don't like transformerless design, because it needs more gain than other mics like U series. I found it a bit deaf and less detail. It has very small form, it squeezed in my one palm :) good product for beginners, small project studios... If you look for a Neumann mic, go U series. But for 539 euros, look for another alternatives like Rode, sE...

TLM 102. Neumann legacy in compact size

TLM 102 doesn't sound like TLM 103 or U87 or a U47. But it really is an astonishing product. It offers the reknown Neumann quality from the first site and the very first decibel that hits back to your ear. Even with a quality preamp in the range of 300-500 euros you can get the most out of it. It can even shine your vocal or voice over tarcks with your sound cards stock preamps. Small in site but big as a mic.
