Presonus Eris E4.5 Reviews
Great speakers, good price
If you want to listen to music in a small room, these are for you
Good Value
I had these as my first speakers when starting out in the audio industry. I always considered them to be a really good fit as first studio monitors. After a couple of years I upgraded to Neumanns, but I still use the Eris E4.5 monitors as reference speakers, just to see how my music would sound on different speaker systems.
What was expected
I expected a good clear sound and I got a good clear sound.
They look very resistant and capable of lasting years.
Great speakers !
These speakers are great for a home studio !
Amazing sound!!!
what to say?!!! Amazing sound!!
Although the monitors are small in size they have a lot of power and beautiful sound!!
Value for money
Awesome monitors, would advise for everyday home use also.
Good monitors.
Good monitors for home. The sound is very clear and crispy. The bass range is not pronounced, but it is understandable for 4.5" speakers. For my taste the bass range was too low, and I bought subwoofer to complement them. With 8" subwoofer they sound very good!
The only annoyance with these monitors is very quiet but very annoying high frequency crackling hiss, when no sound is played through them. Odd thing is that hiss appeared when I put monitors on monitor stands. I am not sure why it is so, maybe on monitor stands they are better positioned, and I can better hear lower level sounds (in this case noise). When monitors are placed on the table I don't hear any hiss.
Entry level monitors
Bought them to use them for mixing/mastering in my home studio. After having and using for several months the youngest brother Eris E3.5 I decided to upgrade to E4.5s.
Sound related there is definitely more bass compared to the E3.5 with the highs to be similar. Sound related the biggest difference apart from the prominent bass is the mids where the E3.5 really shine. Here the mids are a bit muddy and when you do a mix with several tracks it is hard to separate frequencies. Don't get me wrong these are excellent budget studio monitors, I just feel that the E3.5 are more flat sounding.
Pros:
-Built Quality
-Features
Cons:
-Clarity on mids
-Price
Overall it's a very good studio monitor but with a few extra bucks you can go for the E5 which is by far the best of the 3.
sounds good but the build quality is low.
After a few weeks of very light use, the right speaker started to crackle. It was sent back for repair, several months after the repair the cracking sound started to appear again. Other users have reported the same issue so it's obviously a manufacturing error.
Good pair of monitors
I am not excited with this pair but for the money I spent it's not bad either, I couldn't expect more. Has clear sound, it lacks a bit of bass but for a 4 inches monitor it does the job.
Great monitors at a great price
In comparison with the Mackie CR4, these monitors definitely win. It is possible to adjust the low and high frequencies with the appropriate controls on the back panel.
Several types of connection. I use the connection to the USB Audio Interface Steinberg via TRS 6,3 mm. I soldered the cables myself, since short TRS cables are hard to find (the sssnake SMK 222 BK + Rean NYS 208). The build is high-quality, the sound is excellent. In General, everything is fine.
P.S. the Only drawback is that the volume knob does not show the level, especially in the dark.
Way better than Mackie!
After 2 years of hell with my Mackie monitors I went for Presonus, and I dont regret it, yet. For my setup I dont have the space for anything bigger than this. I would rather have a 8" speaker like the E8 XT. So I got the swissonic 10" sub to go with these ones. They sound really good for a 4.5" speaker, but they are a bit too small to go with the sub. Otherwise Im really happy with those monitors.
Best monitors in the price range
I absolutely love them. They play way better than competition in this price range, especially in not-so-perfect room/acoustic conditions. I don't mind cutting cost with master-slave system, I do not need 2 standalone drivers in this power range. I highly recommend this product.
Brilliant
I cannot believe it! These speakers are flawless! Crystal clear sound and amazing bass levels.
Great for a small studio or home use
I purchased them to use with my media center, but eventually ended up using as a second monitor pair. Eris 4.5 are very precise and well-balanced for their price range. Naturally low on bass, what is more than expected from 4.5 inch woofers, but otherwise surprisingly decent and reliable.
They would be a great option the bedroom studios, especially when paired with a subwoofer.
Great monitors!
Exellent near-field monitors for home studio! Very good sound, perfect look and all features you need. A little, just a little bit noisy, but the price beat it!
I recomend it for for home studio using.
Good job, Presonus!
Great value
I bought these mainly because of the small frame compared to many other monitors, but was surprised by the sound and build quality. Only one of the monitors is active, so that explains most of the low price. They do have a small idle hum to them, but it hasn't bothered me and you really can't hear it if listening to music. Overall great budget monitors at a bargain price.
I've considered many options before buying these, but the price and the reviews made me wanna try them out.
I'm very pleased with these monitors, great sound, in my opinion, really enough for an average home studio.
Only bad point would be that you cannot decide which is left/right so if you wanna put the main one on the other side, you need to swap the white and red cables (if you're using RCA of course)
Great sound but succeptible to water damage and support isn't very helpful
The sound, features and inputs are top notch for the price. The only problem is that it broke from minor water damage from standing next to a plant whose case was not totally closed at the bottom. The support didn't want to repair it and said it was impossible to fix. However my cousin repaired it for free and said it was easy to do so it seems to me they could have tried harder.
