Presonus Eris E4.5 Reviews
Arrived with a technical problem
They didn't work when they arrived sadly. Will be ordering them again once I'm refunded. The reviews all point to great speakers
Interesting Pair of Monitors
I bought this pair of monitors cause I wanted something more affordable but also of a good quality. I am really excited by them these first days I use them, cause I haven' t worked with monitors before. Pristine sound with a lot of definition and nice bass, despite their small size. I' m pleased with them so far.
Great!
I've been using these monitors for a long time, they're really cool, they're pretty flat, good power and nice design at a great price
Small but good.
I use them in my home studio. They might lack the low end, but for the size and price, they do a good job. The amp is really low noise.
Fast shippping, no problem
Great little monitors. Crystal clear, full sound, nice lows, crispy highs, fine mids. In this price range it is surely the best. (of course if you pay (much) more you cen get better ones).
For home studio it's a very good choice, opens a window to the music producing world. Although it is just a small window but the view (sound) is very much enjoyable:)
Excellent product
In spite of their compact size, these handsome speakers produce a very natural and satisfying sound for listening to music. The on/off switch and volume control are conveniently located on the left front speaker, as are an auxillary input and headphone output. The speakers also provide balanced inputs and various adjustable settings for room size and position. I could not have wished for more.
I've bought the speaker as an upgrade to my current computer audio system that simply wasn't working for mixing or any other audio task.
The Eris set is a perfect fit for the room I work in at - the sound awesome, and don't take much space. The sound is pretty even (close to neutral) - it's crisp and clear without that overly pronounced boomy bass cheaper speakers have. Plus you can adjust the EQ to match the sound characteristics to your needs.
Overall I'm pretty happy with the purchase and would definitely buy again - I think they sound better than the competition in that price range.
Before I forget - make sure you have 2x XLR to stereo jack (balanced cables) to connect the set if your audio interface supports it, extra headroom is always a plus and the speakers come with just an RCA - jack connector.
Good cheap monitors
They sound very good, and the response is wide, however they get dirt in the volume pot very fast adding some noise when turning the voume pot, they must be clean every time to keep em nice.
Solid set of first monitors
These are my first monitors. I'm very pleased with them. The sound is excellent, and I worked hard on positioning them right. The music I have had time to make has been coming out better and its nice to be able to hear what's going in. They are very convenient because they fit on my desk and only have one power plug.
In hindsight I'm very glad I got these and didn't splurge on KRK 6s or Yamaha 7s. Would have been double the price and I wouldn't have even been able to use them properly! I live in a house where I can't play a lot of loud music, so all of that extra speaker would have been a waste. 4.5 cones seems to be an excellent compromise in that regard. Particularly when the speakers themselves are of such quality.
I really like the controles on the back. They are simpl and easy to get your head around as a relative novice (or lower intermediate... take your pick) but robust and effective at taming the sound, setting up for the space, and teaching you a little bit.
I have them nearfield pointing at my ears in a fairly small room. I was initially worried about the bass response, but its good when I have them set up in this way. They are quite directional though so when I move far enough away there is a noticable difference.
Within the specifications they play with aplomb. Spacious imaging, not too deep or loud, but with clear and a little sound colouring. Great value for money.
Excellent home studio monitors
My Eris monitors are in a small room on top of a rather boomy desk. The positioning isn't great, the bottom of the woofer is about level with the top of my head when I'm sitting down. Despite these (currently unavoidable) downsides, the sound is still very good.
This is partly thanks to the excellent build quality of these units but mostly because of all the options on the speakers themselves. There's a 3-way switch to attenuate the output by 4dB, 2dB or 0, another 3-way switch for a low cut at 100Hz, 80Hz or 0, and rotary controls to provide +6dB to -6dB to the mid and high frequencies. Thanks to all these controls it's very easy to 'tune' these speakers to the room which makes them particularly useful for home recording enthusiasts who often don't have the best rooms to mix in.
Even without the many options on the back these would still be good value for money given the good sound quality and solid build. If you have a big room and the resources to treat it profesionally you may want to invest in some higher-end monitors, but for any hobbyist up to semi-pro with a less-than-perfect room these monitors are brilliant.
Best bang for the buck
Sound:
Accurate and flat sound which is what i was hoping for, if you have a studio or home studio you know that is very important. The 4,5 inch speaker size doesn't compromise the bass, you cannot expect huge bass like bigger speaker but the sound is decent.
I think the best win of these monitors are the mids, very precise.
I have the speaker for some time now and i can tell that they start to sound at 100% with about 80/100 hours of use.
Construction:
Very good construction, does not feel cheap. I like the fact that they have a sound volume knob at the front, its a win for me.
Last considerations:
Best monitors i have experienced for small/home recording studio. They have everything i need. If you need a set of monitors on a budget but still want quality i think these are the monitors your are seeking, i am not telling lies here, you cannot expect at this price point high end quality sound, for really, but at this price point you wont get anything better i think.
If broken or stolen i think i would go for the Eris 5 just to have a little more bass response, as a matter of personal taste
Good speakers
Good set of near field speakers and not expensive, can handle loads of volume for the small size
Excellent
First I'd like to state that I am only rating four stars as these have been my first monitors to own
That being said I have been highly impressed from first opening! Even though funcionality is more important than apperance we all love a bit of eye candy and these look great!
They sound pretty balanced to my ears and I cant seem to faulter especially at the price, they are also not too harsh over long time usage! Again four stars as I do not have much to compare them with!
The features come in very handy if like me your room isn't perfect (by that I mean it's tiny with six walls) and it seems to be pretty unique and definitely useful!
I did have an issue with the fuse inside the monitor, after a few days it blew and I had to replace it but they have worked evver since (touch wood) leading me to believe it was not the monitors themsleves at fault.
All in all, as a first time buyer, I have found these great and you cannot ask for more at this price! Good buy and VALUE!
Excellent
Great quality for the price.Bought these for my studio but work great for tv sound in the sitting room as well!
Presonus Eris 4.5
What a wonderful small monitor! Not only great for volume and response, they're a great price too. Stereo field is clear and they look good! - There is no downside to these if this entry level monitor is what you are looking for. I have them set up alongside an iMac running Ableton. That's all I need!
Presonus Eris 4.5
I can't say a bad word about these monitors. The overall sound is good and in balance for my ears. Of course you can't get the deepest bass out of monitors this small, but anyway they work well enough in my homestudio/ normal room. A very nice feature is that you can adjust the tone by controls on the backside of the monitors. And I think they look stylish too. I'm sure pleased that for a reasonable price I got decent monitors.
Quality monitors with low cost.
These Presonus monitors suprised me good. Without any pretesting and hearing before buy i would say these active monitors are worth every euro.
Sound quality is nicely neutral and the speakers doesn't accent neither too much highs or lows wich makes them very good close range monitors. Of course you might allways want more bass but these are 4.5 inch speakers and you cant demand all from it. But there is option to change the tone which gives some room to adjust more "lower" sound if you want. Havent seen this kind of feature in other this price range speakers.
Connections are great which makes these speakers even more woth the money. I have used them for just listening music, movies, games and recording purposes.
