Cautiously optimistic

I bought 2 of these units and now have about 80 of the combined 96 connections patched in, all working problem-free. My only beef is that it's maybe a bit too easy to pull out the rear connections and create problems that way. I was ready to return these with a scathing comment about how 10 of the cards weren't working, until I realised I'd accidentally pulled out a bunch of cables from the back. I was particularly worried about another review I read on here, regarding harmonic distortion occurring on signals above -19dBfs. I tested for this with a sine wave generator and found no distortion on any signals right up to 0dBfs. Hopefully it stays that way, as the other reviewer's units were 3 years old, and mine are brand new at the time of writing.

The end to cable mess

Enough of reconnecting half of the studio every time I need a change. Patch bay is convenient way to reorganise your signal path as needed. Good quality build, Neutrik ports are pretty solid.

Simple, cheap and does the job

Absolutely no problems with this patch bay. It is completely modular, so even if some of the channels fail, which is unlikely, you could buy single channel modules to replace them. Great device for the money!

Seems good at first

I used this for almost three years, thinking it was OK and unnoticeable in my signal chain. Here and then there was a signal dropout that was corrected by reconnecting cables to the unit, but I didn't think much of it.

That was until I rearrenged some of the hardware here and got a 500 series housing with a linear (instead of a switching) power supply. Then suddenly both stereo compressors routed into the NYS-SPP started behaving super oddly (one went mono unless on bypass, the other lost 6db on one channel -if- on bypass).

A quick test connecting directly into the interface revealed both comps were perfect. Repatching to other channels in the NYS-SPP resulted in the same outcome. The last test, running mixes through it, caused both my compressors to sound weirdly gritty and aggressive in the high-mids, but while connected directly to the interface both of them sounded cleaner too.

This is a poorly built unit, my replacement (costing three times as much) is on its way. It does add distortion depending on the level and complexity of what is being routed, and therefore I cannot imagine that it wouldn't affect quieter signals too even though this is way less noticeable. Better not skimp here (by having a unit like this handling all your signals).

It's a patch bay

It's what I needed for more flexible routing options. It works well.

One thing I noticed is that the cables don't slide in that well, they need quite a bit of a push.

Overall a great unit.

Perfect if you don't use it a lot

This is perfect for a "non-intense" use, versatile and good looking

Sturdy

I have had this patchbay in my studio for several years now and it still works well. The connectors are a bit hard to use, but they are durable and have held up well over time. In this price range, I think it is the best you can buy. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase.

I will be getting another one of these

Easy to use

Does what it's meant to do! Not much more to say other than that it feels like it has an overall good build quality.
