Rode NT5 MP Reviews
Faultless sound recording
I've used these for recording acoustic guitar - one pointing at the bridge, the other at the neck. The improvement on the previous single Rode condenser microphone is amazing. I would thoroughly recommend this setup for recording - worth every penny (or cent!).
Clear and affordable
Sound great. A clear, clean and great sounding mic pair.
Good product, good price.
Very good. I recorded piano trio using these and took to the studio for professional mixing. It sounded great
Rode NT5 matched Pair Microphones
excellent sound used it for piano's violins etc. and very happy with the sound quality
Love these mics
I started using them as overheads for drums, then used them for acoustic instruments (violin, flute) and ended up using them for every recording, even for vocals (in combination with one "main" central mic).
They sound good and clear, and in my setup (1 central mic + this pair) they add air and space.
I even used them as vocal mics on a gig once, though they're not designed for this :-)
Overall, I'm very happy about this purchase. One of the greatest tools in my arsenal!
They also come in a very handy case with nice and useful accessories (although the case could actually be much smaller).
Great mics!
I used these two mics as OH on the last Primal Fear European tour, they're awesome. After We were so happy for the live environment, I decided to buy the matched pair for my personal studio. They work excellent!!
Well priced quality matched pair
I use them for ambient recording, in ORTF configuration for orchestral recording and sound reinforcement, and as instrument microphones.
Great build quality, low self noise, great included accessories (mic clip and windshield), robust plastic case.
Absolutely recommended
After the first use of these mics you simply will fall in love with them: sturdy, small and compact but perfect for heavy duty jobs, balanced, clear, nice sound... They sound awesome on guitars and as drums overheads, but they can fit in many other uses of course, like miking percussions, shakers, hangs and all those instruments that need to be captured nice and clear both live and in the studio.
They are built for holding up "hot plugging/unplugging" if the phantom power is on while operating with cables, great feature.
These NT5 are absolutely highly recommended, great value for money and perfect for beginners and experts.
Moreover, if you forget to turn off the phantom power, they are "hot plugging/unplugging" resistant: a great feature to have (but remember to turn off the +48V always while managing condensers).
So.... yes: these NT5 are absolutely highly recommended, great value for money and perfect for beginners and experts.
The best in this price range
Everyone knows that Rhode offers great quality at very competityve prices. The best exsamples are NT1-A and NT5. Having them both I can confirm their reputation is well deserved. I use them both in my small project studio NT1-A for vocals and acoustic instruments and NT5 mainly as overheads for drums, but it can be used also as stereo mics for naration, acoustic guitar, etc... My first impression is the obvious building quality. They look and feel reasurring. The sound is clear and crisp, I rearly use EQ with them. My room is quite small and yet I am happy with the result I get from them. I'm ot very fond of the plastic case they come with but it's not a deal breaker. Overal great mics for their value.
Fantastic little mics
I purchased 12 mics for my studio project. These were definitely one of the cheapest ones but also one of the best ones! I love these mics. They will capture ground sound for just about anything. Fantastic
Great Condenser Mic
Bought these as Over heads for Drums and used with great results. Used them on various occasions with wind instruments with great satisfaction. Great sound and quality. Come in a sturdy case with shields and clip. Only issue is that clips are not secured in case and tend to fall off if you happen to open the case the other way up! Mics are secured in place.
Nice overhead Mic
I use this mainly on A guitar and strings quartets.
This is an affordable pair of mics with satisfactory results. Of course it is not the best choice if you aims the best quality but its pretty good enough at its price range.
I did not find any cons for these mics, but for mid-level mic, it is very important for the position of miking. It affects lots.
Anyway, its good!
Excellent sound for its price
Buy these mics for recording drums. And as an overhead mics they works perfect.
The only thing that i have noticed is that they sound too bright on a high-end frequencies.
But definition of sound and quality is great.
Another great feature is that you can change the capsule of the mic. Available omni and cardiod capsules. Its make NT5 more versatile and useful for many applications.
Great mics for studio and live situations. I have many gigs and they always do the work
Excellent mics
I use this mics for recording at my home studio, mainly on acoustic guitar, percussion such congas, bongos and other small percussion, and on drums, and they all sound amazing. Excellent quality/price. Construction seems strong and beautiful.
I hesitated about buying the pair of Neumann, but to be honest the difference in quality would be too small, if any, even for professional ears.
The case is plastic, not as fancy as the Neumann wooden case, but the quality of the sound is the important feature here. Do not hesitate in buying this, is definitely an investment.
Amazing quality for this price, very versatile, I use them for a lot of things as they have such a good sound. Never seen a better noise to signal ratio on this price range
Great Mics
I use these for piano, acoustic guitar, and drum overheads. The sound is very clear and they are great for the price. Plenty of presence and detail. Very happy with the purchase.
The first tests were promising. The sound was clear but only just a little bit added color. Relatively insensitive to feedback.
The first impression was good.
