Good but low

Very good microphone but it has a very low signal level in general.

Great Value

For any filming/video work on a budget, this is the mic. Obviously it's not as good as the "industry standard" mics, but then again, it's a fraction of the price, and the average joe who knows nothing about audio probably won't notice the difference between a good mic and an amazing one.

My main criticism is that it would be nicer to have a higher output for quieter work. For those instances, I use the battery to power it, then use a cloudlifter to boost the gain, which gets nice levels from it.

A good starter shotgun mike

I used for location boom miking for short video productions.

The good- needs phantom but can use AA, this is really convenient as my recorder flies through batteries when supplying phantom power.

Sound quality is very good for the price, in my humble opinion you would need to spend a minimum of three times the amount to hear a leap in sound quality. Audiophiles will differ, but at this price range it's really good.

Side rejection is very good, rear rejection not so good, do not use it in confined spaces, you will be overwhelmed by reflections.

I considered the cheaper NTG1, which is also shorter but no AA option, spend the extra and go for this. You'll thank yourself
