Shure SM57 LC 5-stars Reviews
SM57 Microphone
I bought the SM57 microphone following a recommendation from a friend who is a sound engineer. I was looking for a dynamic mic that could be used for a variety of purposes from instrument mic to vocal mic. I didn't want to spend a large amount of money, but was prepared to pay for quality. This mic is quality through and through, so no wonder it is an industry standard mic for professionals. My application is only for my pub/bar band, but it's versatility means I would recommend it to anyone. I have used it for backing vocals alongside SM58's and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I have also used it as a kick drum mic in live situations, where it gives a very tight kick sound. It has even been used for recording an acoustic guitar during a demo recording session and the results sounded great.
The only downside is that it is not maybe as cheap as some of the more budget options, but it is made by Shure, so you know you are paying the extra for a quality mic.
I would definitely say this mic as a good investment to anyone looking for a mic to do many things with.
All-Rounder
The workhorse of any recording studio, is great for anything on drums, guitars, brass, as a room mic, anything with high SPLs really.
If you want a close distorted guitar sound then then nothing will do the job better than this microphone.
An absolute must have for any studio, be it world-class or a project studio.
I use this microphone on absolutely every session I undertake as it gets me results time after time. I know exactly what sound this microphone will give me when I place it on anything, especially snare drums and guitar speaker cabinets so for me, it makes my sessions go much smoother.
Great all-round dynamic mic
This is a great mic for both recording and live applications. I use this regularly for miking electric guitar amps and snare drums. At such a reasonable price, it really is a must-have mic for live sound reinforcement and studios
Excellent Mic
Bought four of these for mixing up the church drum kit, on the recommendation of a professional sound engineer. These pics are great all rounders, we use them for H Hats, Snare and two of the toms. They are well built, practically bomb proof (although I hope we never find that out !)
Good quality, good sound, and won't be broken by hamfisted drummers ;-)
Must have microphone
This is one essential microphone in your kit. You will find this microphone at practically any recording studio. If you will only get one mike, this is probably the one to have. Especially great for recording guitars since the sound of the SM57 has become a sort of classic and go-to sound. You can't really go wrong here.
Shure means classic, reliable workhorses!
It's a Shure SM57!!! You can't go wrong!!! Put it in front of a guitar amp or a snare drum, or buy the Shure A2WS Windscreen GR and use it for vocals like I do, you won't be disappointed. Buy this and you'll never sell it. It's a classic, an investment. Everyone uses these microphones, join the gang!
No coincidence these guys are essential kit for venues
There is certainly something uniquely and distinctly satisfying about Shure 57 and 58s. The build quality is second to none for me. Solid, extremely durable and well-crafted. They last twice as long as most competitors in their range in my experience.
The sound quality is superb and works especially well on snares, Fender guitar combos and vocoders (as the high-mid-bias helps the signal cut beautifully).
I've offered 3 stars for features, purely becuase the SM57 is no-frills. No switches or tweakability in any fashion, but this is far from a negative. It is a simple and superbly effective bit of gear and should be in the arsenal of any self-respecting music venue.
Great multi purpose microphpone
I use this microphone mainly for recording guitar amps in my home studio. I already had one and I bought another for a larger session I was doing. These microphones are perfect for recording loud instruments/amplifiers/snare drums, the build quality is superb. I was originally using a low cost dynamic microphone for recording and when I got this I was delighted with the difference, it can handle very high volumes, I used it as a snare mic on a drum session I was recording and it got knocked around a fair bit during the course of the day and was still completely intact. There is a reason why this is the most popular dynamic instrument microphone in the world and it all comes down to the great sound, the superb build quality and fantastic value for money!
sm57
This is the microphone every one loves!!! It has proven itself over the decades to be so reliable that it has become and industry standard!!! My persopersonall use of the sm57 is for recording my guitar amplifier!!! I've used this microphone to record drums, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, vocals and even piano! There good both for studio and for live use. Overall a simple but reliable Mic that has never faild me.
Shure SM57 LC
Reasonable price and this mic is the one you should start building your home recording capability. And stage usage option included. Must have mic for recorder, sound engineer, musician etc.
A classic, all-purpose microphone
I needed an all-purpose mike for my home studio and knew that, for a hundred euros, I wasn?t going to find a condenser mike of the same quality. The SM57 works great with guitar amps, percussion and other loud sources, but it?s not bad for vocals or acoustic guitar either. Plus it?s sturdy as a rock. At this price, a no-brainer.
perfect all-rounder. I use it on snare top and bottom and on guitar and bass amps. you can pretty much use these mics on everything and I have heard of people recording entire albums with just these mics. very sturdy and a keeper for life.
Privaloma tureti studijoj
Labai geras mikrofonas tiek instrumentams, tiek vokalui. Labai gerai perduoda visus garso niuansus. Tiesa, jo isejimo lgis nera aukstas, todel nelabai tinka tyliems garsams arba irasineti is toli. Rekomenduoju. Privaloma turet studijoj!
Fantastic Mic
I don't think you need a review about this well-known workhorse of a Mic, but I will just say a few words, I would just like to thank Shure for making microphones like this one, and for all their research into membrane technology. I always find a use for this one in the studio, as a second Mic on the snare drum, fantastic for guitar amplifiers, sometimes I even find a use for this mic on screaming mid range rock singers. all you sound engineers out there you might be surprised, this Mic delivers really good results for recording flute. there are so many different situations where this microphone comes in handy.
Simply the Best
Simply the best snare mic out there at this price point. For both top and bottom miking of a snare theres nothing better! for studio or live its durable and versatile
It's an SM57...
What can you write about a Shure SM57 ? It's an SM57 & that's all really !!
VERY sturdy build - WILL last a long time w/ a minimum of care
Good quality, highly versatile generalist mic, a very reasonable cost mic every band should have in it's mic arsenal
It's a quality piece of gear

Great instrument mic
Bought for mic-ing up a guitar cab to feed into band's PA. It's as rugged as all the other Shure mics and can cope with high volume levels. Great value for money microphone and great sound quality.
Everyday use
Everyone knows this legend.
For it's price You cannot find anything better for snare. Maybe You cannot find any better microphone for rocky snare. I also use this for toms and sometimes for a part of the set for multi-miced guitar amps too.
