Shure SM57 LC 5-stars Reviews
Best mic avaliable
Very good sound quality.
This mic can go through hell and back again
I bought this back in 2013 and have mainly used it for recording my cab for a year when I lent the mic to one of my friends.
He wrecked the mic with myself getting it back with the wires inside the mic both broken. I was able to reconnect and solder the wires back to where they were meant to be and the mic is back in perfect working condition.
So without a doubt I shall be using this mic for the rest of my life
Standard in the Industry
This mike is absolute standard for the guitar amp recording. I have bought two of them and I m very happy to use them on my daily basis. The price was the best I could find on the market. This is the mike to start the electric guitar recording journey with. Highly recomended
Shure SM57
I'll keep it simple:
It's a Shure SM57, it's been used for as long as it's been available and hasn't changed much since it's creation.
Yeah, it sounds great. Yeah, it's for guitars, yeah, it'll do acoustic guitars alright too. Yeah, it's good.
Obviously, it's a Shure SM57.
Sure there is better, but this get's the job done and get's it done right.
Simply the sm57 is an essential mic to have in your studio
Have to have on of those
I was hesitant to buy it for a long time. Bought instead many others, changed them, sold them blablabla.
This one will stay in my studio.
I bought it for recording vocals with A 81 WS and it sounds SOOOO smooth and nice.
I had previously sm7b. If you looking for a cheap alternative this combo won't disappoint.
As expected
Nice mic.
Perfect for guitar recording.
Best all round mic
It can be used for wide variety of applications.
Standard for snare and guitar amps.
Good for toms and even vocals, acoustic guitars and other acoustic instruments.
Not as hign definition as a large diafragm condenser but works every time.
It would not be my choice for classical recordings but works great for rock, pop, country etc both live and in the studio.
I love to have it.
Does what you expect
Classic SM57 - great build quality and great sound. Absolutely no complaints! We use this at church to mic a guitar amp and it does exactly what you expect.
Reliably awesome - worth spending the money.
THE SM57
The SM57 is good on anything because you always know what you're going to get - detailed sound of a solid dynamic mic.
Built to withstand the toughest of handling, the SM57 is a workhorse microphone which will work with almost any sound source from vocals to guitars (acoustic or electric), woodwind to brass and drums to percussion. It's also a great live or studio mic which makes it a go to for stage or studio.
There is nothing to it, no switches, cut offs or switchable patterns... not even an on/off switch. What you see is what you get. And in this you get a seriously robust, unbreakable* microphone with an equally reliable sound and characteristic.
So what's bad about it? Can a budget mic really be this good?
Well, yeah! It really is this good. Which is why all major studios have loads of them (and the SM58s - which are pretty much the same but with a different 'mouthpiece').
Being hyper critical, one of the things which I have to keep in mind when using this mic is proximity - you have to be close the get the sound source. This is the nature of dynamic microphones so it's not a fault of the Shure as such. You'll see these mics on stage and singers are touching their lips against it just to make sure the sound is level... Other than this, you can't fault it. Especially at this price.
SM57 Sound
I'm sure whoever is about to buy this SM57 now, is very aware of the sound they'll get and it's most likely also not the first 57!
Can't have enough 57s in the studio, can you?!
Legendary sound that has still its place in the modern music production.
Wouldn't want to change a thing on this microphone. Except maybe an actual vintage 57 ;)
Great product, many great sounding applications. Well build quility product.
I have absolutely nothing bad to say about these.
I wouldn't accept anything less than perfect when it came to mics. And these are.
legendary mic
Exceptional quality for the price.
I use it for pretty much everything; electric guitar, voice, toms, kicks, ...
Also build like a tank, so it will last you a long time when you handle it with the respect it deserves.
I love it!
It works perfect for recording my acoustic guitar and my voice. It is so small compared to other microphones but so good.I would definitelly buy another one without hesitation.

Classic Shure mic at a great price. what else is there to say?
Classic
This microphone has been "the go to" microphone for electric guitars and other instruments for decades already and there is a good reason why - it is good. It has great qualities for such a cheap microphone and therefore it is unbeatable at this price point. with some slight modifications you can also use it on vocals, producing similar results to the Shure sm7B.
Very versatile, cheap microphone. Definitely a MUST HAVE in any recording setup and studio. As a musician, sound engineer and producer so far I have never visited a studio that doesn't have this microphone. Great product!
A true classic multi-purpose microphone for professionals and those who are starting.
After reading all the suggestions of which would be the best multi-purpose microphone that can be used for almost anything I deceided to go for the classic Shure SM57. And I am glad I did that!
At the moment I am mainly using it for rehersal and demoing guitar / vocals but of course it can be used for professional recordings and live performances. I am not that experienced yet to tell about the sound quality which definately is good but this mic is a great starting point to experiment and learn.
It is not a suprise that the microphone is very well built and durable. You can really feel it when you are holding it in your hands as it feels heavy and robust in a good way. It comes with a nice little leather carrying pouch which is handy.
I don't think this microphone really has any cons considering it's an industry standard and built like a tank.
Overall this is a must have microphone that can be recommended for anyone! Especially for those who are searching for their first universal microphone that could be used on recording almost anything. At this price, it is a must have!
The go-to mic for close miking guitars and drums!
I have used this mic with rock bands in a mid-sized studio and also made extensive use of it live. In my opinion, the sound this mic reproduces is exceptional for Rock and Pop music, thus it suits well close miking snare and toms or guitar cabinets.
The only downside I find with this mic is the black outer plastic of the capsule, which is loose and rotates on its own. I'm sure that if this piece is hit while playing, it can break. Also, drums being a very loud instrument, this plastic tends to shake when one strikes the drum and produces an annoying sound of the plastic rattling with the capsule. I solved this by applying two small pieces of black electrical tape to stick this plastic to its capsule, making sure not to cover the whole circumference ofthe capsule as this changed the characteristic of sound and its pickup. This will prevent the plastic from moving. This is the reason I gave 4 stars for quality.
Having tried and tested several other mics in miking drums and guitars, I find myself returning to this mic more often than not as the sound it captures suits well the style of music I record. I have therefore by time invested in more SM57s.
What can I say about the legendary Shure SM57 that hasn't been said already? Great sound and also versatile, as it helped me record classical guitars, acoustic guitars, amps and cajons. I'm sure it will help me much more in the future. A mic that will last you a lifetime!
A classic mic and industry standard
This is a classic mic for almost every situation: recording instruments in studio or micing at stage. Many vocalists use this microphone too. The mic very well made, works great, correctly gives a tone of (almost) any source of sound. Must have for every practicing musician.
