Amazing mic, just like expected

I have recorded both guitar and piano with this mic with amazing results, in very badly treated rooms. The work needed in post for piano might be a little bit more, still, for something I bought for general use it fulfils its job

El producto es ejemplar, nada que envidiarle a productos mucho mas costosos que brindan la misma calidad. Una gran inversión, imposible no tener de estos en tus micrófonos de grabación de estudio

Does exactly what i want, because i use it accordingly.....

Wasn't even gonna leave a review here, thought it would be a 100% 5 star review story, but i see a few 3 and 4's, they seem unfair for this microphone when it was purchased by mistake, and they say their review is trying to help others not make the same mistake.

Just to clarify, this microphone is well known, its excellent for live and studio recordings, drums, vocals, brass and guitars, both electric and acoustic, it works best in loud situations, its not a microphone used to pick up very soft low levels, i've never ever heard or seen anyone saying it's a great microphone for low level recordings. The build quality is also excellent, and while it could be called the jack of all trades, its actually on par with far more expensive microphones in some areas, for instance the snare drum.

Knowledge is important when buying and reviewing music equipment, there isn't really a one stop microphone that can do every type of recording the best, you ideally want a varied selection of different types that excel in 1 or 2 areas, and for the price the Shure SM57 is the best value for money mic you can buy, and it still gets used in high end recording studios. Its not just a really good microphone to start out with, many people buy it who own expensive condenser or ribbon microphones already.

Classic Shure vibe

There is a lot of small talk about this mic and its brother the SM58 as being out dated. That being said this is a great mic both for vocals and more so for recording guitar. I use this mic live and in the studio to mic my Marshall cabinet with excellent results. Want that classic sound use Shure SM57.

Industry standard

This (instrument) microphone is thé standard used all over. Next to the SM58, you almost find this microphone on every stage; it can be used for a very wide range of instruments. A very reliable microphone!

Classic Microphone

Iconic microphone and a total studio warhorse!

A real classic, never disappoint!

The SM57 is one of the most iconic mics ever made. It’s an industry standard, and every studio has one in their mic locker, and for good reason. It's good for almost everything, from drums to vocals. I have mostly used it for vocals, though I experimented using it on African drums, with quite good results. It doesn’t add much to the sound of it though, and can be difficult to position near the drum, so a condenser may be a better option in that aspect.

As far as sound quality is, it sounds quite warm to me, but sometimes picks up a little too much background noise for my tastes. I guess I should make my PC quieter, but it's not very loud as is. It does pick up my “record” mouse clicks (which proves

Features: It's a mic. It looks cool. It is hugely rugged and works on most anything. What else can I say

Great mic

Super high quality mic, sounds amazing, works exactly as a dynamic mic should.

When recording guitar amps and other instruments keep in mind the cardioid shape is greatly affected by distance so you will get different sounds depending on how close the mic is to the audio source (instrument, voice etc).

Absolute bargain for the price
