Industry standard

There's really no point in reviewing this item. It's THE SM58. The benchmark on stage. Has it's limits but still a great mic.

Legend!

It is a LEGEND. What else do you need to know?

The industry standard for a good reason.

This mic has been the industry standard for years, so there's not much else to be said about it.

I got the added switch option for a few euros more as a personal preference, and I like have the extra option of muting the mic by hand instead of having to use the desk all the time.

My husband and I both sing as an amateur duo and use our Shure microphones on average three times a month. We bought this model to replace previous Shure microphones which we had had for many years without any problems. It is a good quality microphone which is a good weight to hold and always gives a good sound. We have found it completely reliable. We have never used any other microphone so unable to compare it; we are just very satisfied with this model and would recommend it.

Just a legedary mic with a switch

That's the legendary sm58 with a switch, perfect for live vocals, beat box and busking

Use this all the time!

I'm a live sound engineer and I go to all kinds of places and venues where I work. This mic is my personal one and I plug it into the talkback input of the mixer so that I can talk to the stage through the monitors. If the mixer doesn't have a talkback feature, I'll just plug it into a spare input, send to monitors and use the little switch to mute and unmute my voice. It's a classic SM58 so it serves as a spare mic in emergencies. Classic mic that sounds good in all situations!

Built like a tank

I have full confidence this mic can be hung upside down from a crane and used as a bulldozer!! Only kidding! What I'm trying to say is it's built like a tank and feels quite weighty and solid in the hand.

Good performance however, I found it to be at tad too directional for my liking (in that if you're slightly off-axis there's quite a noticeable drop in sound level). Maybe this was just the way our speakers were using the mic.

Anyway, overall a very good purchase and solid performance from a respectable brand.

What?s not to like?! Best microphone

The Shure SM58s is a near legendary bit of kit, robust, well made, excellent materials, giving a great sound quality, that is more than capable of withstanding heavy gigging. I suspect, come the nuclear apocalypse, these microphones, along with cockroaches will be the last thing operating.

Classic microphone

As it was said before - probably most popular mic ever.

Everything as expected, nice bag included.

The only drawback - I would probably choose more super-cardioid one for future (e.g. Beta 58 A) since with that mic is pretty easy to catch a feedback from stage monitors when using long reverb on on-the vocals.

Switch is a pleasant feature (not click-less however)

It's a 58

it sounds like a 58, it looks like a 58. By gum it IS a 58! Solid, reliable, great on vocals and almost anything else. If you don't have one, you need one.

It's a great mic as expected

It's a perfect singing mic, it's a SM58 so there's no question about quality, robustness, make etc...

The catch is to turn on the switch on the side, otherwise, you are just singing for yourself.

It is a great little feature to cut some feedback in a flash sometimes, but it's important to remember the switch is off...

Probably Best Budget Mic

Comes in a very appealing box which contains a manual, a "SHURE" sticker and a leather (or leatherette) zip bag for the mic storage/transportation.

I genuinely like the look, the weight, and the on/off button.

I have specifically chosen a dynamic microphone as I have been intending to record various types of music on all sorts of instruments in my home studio with a very tight budget. Yet, at the very beginning was quite confident there will not be a need to change/upgrade this particular mic, as this is practically a high-end one for this type of price range.

No need to mention the legendary brand and the model itself which have definitely have aided and proven the reputation of the product.

Top Brand

I have been using SM58s for years and I would never use any other microphone for live gigs.

I bought this version with the switch to use as the microphone that goes into my loop station. It is perfect as i means that I can switch it off when I am not using it to record vocals and only the guitar and other background sounds don't get picked up and recorded into the loop as well.

The durability of these microphones is superb and the quality is top notch
