Slate Digital ML-1 Matte Black 5-stars Reviews
Best large diaphragm Mic under 1000â¬
I bought it for my home studio projects(demos) after I had tested it in a professional studio I work as well where there are top mics like Neumann u87 etc. VFM mic. I totally recommend it.
Great mic!
I love this mic due to the fact that emulates really nice some high expensive microphones. Having the option to choose between different mic styles and test which one is perfect for the singer, is amazing. I worked with the U87, U67, Sony C800G, and to be honest, it gets very close to that original sound of these mics. I mean, for 500$ you cannot get a better offer and it will do the job. I wish that the self noise to be a little bit lower, but still, it is a option to go with, especially if you need to be mobile. I also love the build quality, and the fact that you get the shockmount and a case included. Good job!
Great mic
even as standalone it sounds great, adding the software, you get instantly different voicings on the source material
Awesome mic with fabulous software variations
This is a great mic, and certainly a go-to when not quite knowing what sound you want as, once the track is recorded, you can switch through the different mic models to find what suits the source best. Good build quality and great for the price.
Outstanding mic
The best virtual mic system on the market. Emulations sound fantastic. Mic is super clean on its own. A great addition to your setup.
Amazing
I have many condenser mic but this one is my favorite
The only vocal mic I'll ever need
The Slate ML-1 microphone is well built, sounds amazing, has a low noise floor and the emulations are spot on (thanks to this system I found out my voice sounds great with a 251 style mic, I would have never guessed). I also got it on sale for €499. What more could I ask for? Ah yes, the ML-2, and I think that will be my next purchase!
Multifunctional tool for every vocalist
I wasn't really sure which mic to buy, because the amount of choices is always vast and you never know what brand and model works for your voice. Right until I found out about this one.
At first I was kinda confused about the whole virtual modelling idea, because I couldn't even realize how it works. But, eventually, it turned out to be the best choice for me.
The thing is, ML-1 gives you not just one option. The slate plugins do some great replicas of well-know classic mics. Hence, you can switch them in the blink of an eye and try some different sounds. And we all know it matters, when it comes to mixing and stuff.
Knowing that every voice is unique, it's really important to find a right mic that suits you. Not many people have a full professional studio setup with a bunch of different mics. This one is the solution, because you always want to sound great.
As for me, 800 and 800m really gets along with my voice and brings it to a better level.
A no-brainer!
To be honest, having read a whole GS thread on this mic, and having used this microphone in person afterward, my humble opinion is that even the starting price of $999 is a steal for this particular piece of hardware, although after a while the company kinda abandoned the idea of a necessary separate special preamp, as it turned out the microphone could be used just fine without it, which accordingly lowered the price of the VMS.
I can't think of a microphone with such versatility to it even for the double price, and with the Black Friday sale, it's a no-brainer for me.
Get it while you can, you surely won't regret it.
Impressive mic with amazing sound.
Just sounds realistic and nice. It's easy to work with, well made, and sounds very good to the ears.
I also like the option to use the differents mic emulations, its make the process of recording vocals more fun and creative.
Definitely recommend having one.
super!
amazing mic quality and technology
Amazing product, slate did it again
Amazing product and even more amazing value for money. One of the best mics out there today
Best buy I've done in a while
I love the options you have in the post-production, changing through different classic mics but even out of the box this is a great purchase. Total upgrade from Rhode NT1 and I think decent price for what they offer.
Great for pop Vocals
I mainly use it for Pop vocals and it is Great. Remarkable results using this microphone and Slate's VMR
Very good mic for the price-point
So I bought this Microphone for recording vocals, it comes with the Virtual Mix Rack and does a great job at emulating some of the best microphones such as the Sony C800-G, and multiple high end Neumann mics. Overall it's a really flat Microphone and a great choice for the price range if you are looking for a versatile Microphone but I would also advise taking a look at the Neumann TLM 103 for about the same price.
This is the best microphone for the price!
Worthy mic and great emulations
This is my third microphone and I am happy to have found what I need for the price. I had an Octava MK-105, Rode NT-1A, but I had a feeling that this is not quite what suits me. It turned out to be strange for me that the vocals on the AKG C3000 were denser and with a good middle than on the previous ones.
The emulations and linearity of the ML-1 is what gives you a lot of creative freedom.
The only thing that upsets is the lack of iLok Cloud.
A Beautiful & Versatile Microphone
At first I was a bit sceptical about the whole idea of this microphone. A microphone should sound the way it sounds and should not be 'imitating' another mic. But boy was I wrong.
The microphone itself sounds very decent, low-noise, etc. But with the Slate Digital modelings, this microphone sounds insane.
If you cannot buy a Sony C800G or Neumann U47, buy this one instead. You even get a lot of different mic-modelings with it. Perfect for a producer who works with different artists. You can easily switch between microphones and find the perfect sound.
And in some cases I even liked the modeling more than the original, especially with the Shure SM7.
I really recommend this mic!
Unbeatable for the price
I'm pretty sure this is the best mic deal available. You get so many amazing mics for the price of maybe 1/3 of one neumann. Can't beat that. I've got a 47 at my studio, and more than half of the time this one wins when choosing a vocal mic.
is amazing
quality mic and plugins incredible
