An excellent experience

The key of my purchase of this headphone amp is to use it for referencing my mix as well as recording. I use this with my Beyer DT 880/990 pro and so far it has been an excellent experience. The VU meter gives me a very good visualisation of the dynamic of the song and I am able to use this to compare.

The sound of the amp is quite flat (not very coloured) and is sensitive to the type of headphone and source you play. I run through it directly from my computer D/A analogue out as well as my iphone with RCA, it produces quite a different sounds (my iphone all of the sudden become a high end hi-fi equipment!!!). The feature of having different speaker angles/center compensation are good to have but it only represents very subtle change by playing around them, I personally don't find them a must have for mixing. 1 added feature comparing to the old version is that, there are 3 input sources 2 xlr and 1 RCA which is good feature for audition purpose. The look of it is great and the light on the VU meter is in red which is slightly off from my expectation (expect yellow or amber), thought something wrong with it but realise that was the designed colour. It is also a good pre amp if you have a pair of speaker and it certainly allow you to use the feature of the amp as well as you can use a by pass mode. Overall, this equipment is not cheap but worth every dollars of it, I still need to get more time to explore the feature and test it with different headphones.
