Good starter for moving head lights

Used to light a band, joystick handy - using 2 fixtures for lighting the singer, 3rd for "dancing lights" 4th and 5th for backstage washes. A bit like programming a 70s VCR, but it works! (Use the pdf manual from this site - the one I googled was different and didn't work)

Solid DMX terminal

Works as intended, for a cheap first DMX terminal it is of great quality. Allows for programming of scenes and chases; not easy at first but once they're worked out it works perfectly fine.

Construction is solid, it's heavy so have no wories about damaging it. Great product

Good stuff, but a bit bulky

This is a golden DMX controller, has a lot of functions and easy to use. You can dim the light, make it auto, make it music driven. Programming is quite easy. All pieces look sturdy and very well built. I guess it would survive a fall from 2nd floor easily.

The only drawback is its size. This thing takes a lot of unnecessary space, because of those sides being pulled out, for design purposes i guess. However it doesn't add to functionality. It could be smaller, yet having same functions.

Also the plastic bag inside the box is a bit too small for this product.

Good value and capable

Confession first, being a newbie to DMX. This unit though does what we want, is quite easy to understand and manage. Only downside is it feels maybe a bit less than 100% in quality as sockets for power and cables quite early started to cause issues.

Perfect for starters

This controller is great for people getting started with DMX or just simply want to manage a couple of lights for a disco or small venue.

Great value for money too.

Flacky Product

Looked a good solid product at first, But quickly became quite unpredictable, scene 2 kept flicking between 2 and 3, I use 2 as a black out via midi, and as for MIDI !! don`t go there, You have a 1 in 3 chance it might work, I really need something more stable than this, Sorry sending item back!

Perfect Controller Good Features

I use 12 LED Wireless Generic Uplights within my Wedding business. A cracking controller ticks all the boxes for my needs, have tried various DMX controllers over the years but the Starville DMX-Master 1 comes out tops.

Perfect small controller

I've purchased loads of these units over the years.

If you need a small DMX controller for fixtures that don't have loads of channels then this is a perfect choice. I use one of these to control our follow spot rather than running it through our DMX software which works very well indeed. Programing is a little time consuming but if you use these as a live controller they are great. Never had one break down so very reliable.

very good product

I use with 2 moving heads and 4 par leds.

Pros: very good for 30 scenes

Cons: The power adaptor is very cheap

Dependable

Been using this with our 4stage cans and 2 LED scanners for a while now. Easliy programmable and plenty of features for a basic light show. Band cans run sound to light with a direct input from the drum machine kick drum and the scanners run on programmed chases. The front graphic is peeling off on one corner but its nothing that a bit of glue won't fix, otherwise we're very happy with it.

More than enough!

We bought this for a number of reasons, mostly that it accepts audio-in, for accurately synchronising our lights with the music being played. However, once we started using this lighting controller, we found that the other included features are incredibly valuable - and now we couldn't live without them! The scene programming and selection is incredibly intuitive - one could program a light show in a number of minutes. Couple that with Manual, Auto and Music modes, and the workflow becomes very fast. The chases are very good too, with more memory locations than I ever would have expected! The DMX-Master has a number of Banks for scenes/chases, but I'm unsure how many. Highly recommended!

Not bad but no great either.

If you buy cheap you're going to get cheap. I can name about 15 different companies all with their copies similar to this. The truth is, this desk doesn't perform bad but it doesn't have a lot of features and it is glitchy in places when it comes to programming moving heads. I only recommend getting one if the rig you're using is basic, if you're programming with moving heads you're probably going to want something that isn't going to glitch up on you.

An essential addition to a small lighting array

As a total novice to lighting when first approaching the problem of what to buy for our venue, it was glowing testimonials from friends in the business that brought the Stairville to our attention and rightly so.

With a huge variety of possibilities and numerous well-thought-out features, it has proven an essential bit of kit for us. Crucial and flexible when creating an atmosphere for all varieties of musical styles and clubnights.

It also has the added benefit of being a familiar face for visiting technicians, making their worki in the venue far more straight-forward.

The unit's built is hardy and not unattractive. The sockets are well made. The control area is well designed and numerous nice litle touches (including the Xbox-esque swivel stick) made it one of our best and most consistently reliable purchases.

Highly recommended for anyone with a small venue and lighting array who still wants a certain level of versatility.

The tiniest criticism would be that, for those of us looking to mount it on a wall, it lacks any pre-drilled fixture holes. But that is a small gripe with an otherwise excllent acquisition.

I bought this DMX Master 1 to run all my DMX lighting, I have used it a lot, mainly for mobile use & it has stood up well to life on the road. At present it is running my Moving Heads, it's easy to program & set scenes. All in all a great unit at a great price.

DMX Making Your Lights Stand Out

This mixer does exactly what it does on the tin. i found this DMX mixer nice and easy to use. iv used two of these mixers in the past and they have never let me down. a cool thing i decided to do over the last few gigs is iv linked the midi in of this mixer with a midi out of a midi foot switch and now i can change the light channels with my feet! witch is a must try!! and its simple it just works try it out your gigs will come alive without hiring a light guy! there is a very easy learning curve to programming lights with this item witch is great as it will not take long to plan your light shows.

Great Quality but very little features

We purchased this controller to use with our set up that includes two moving heads, 10 Par lights, and two blinders.

The controller appears to be of great quality material, but our disappointment was with the use of the product.

You are able to record many scenes, but the only way to switch between the scenes WHILE having a timed fade is to set it on Automatic or Music Mode.

It does not allow you to MANUALLY FADE through the scenes. IF you want to manually control the scenes you recorded it instantly switches to the next scene.

Of course this feature is an essential one to manually doing lights in a concert where you know your scenes but many times you want slower fades between each one.

We found ourselves not able to use all our lights to their full capacity due to this feature missing.

That being said, the controller does things well and is built well, just know you are getting what you pay for.

It is one of the cheaper controllers, and the features are quite limited.

More limited than we expected.

Great if you want to use the automatic or music mode.
