about a...

There are a pluses and minuses about these PAR.

Firstly about minuses:

The main problem is quality, you can't transport these without special hard cases, because it is fragile and you can easy to turn down side parts. So you need to be very careful about that.

Other thing is light output, you can use this only on small stages or use as accenting decorations.

Pluses:

It is very light and easy to carry, it is a good choice when you have limited space for transporting, for example, a car.

In the other hand, it have many good features in this price range like DMX channels.

In conclusion, if you have a band or a small club, this is the right choice.

Stairville LED PAR 56

We have 4 that light up a reasonable size stage with 4 in the band. They do an excellent job, have good colour brightness and dont get hot!

Just about Par for the course....

Bought 2 of an early version of these back in 2008 and have been using them ever since with no issues.

They seem to have dropped in price since back then and that possibly reflects that they do not shine as brightly as conventional lamps but are much less fragile and much less hot if you have to stand under them!

With the casing of all metal construction, they have been very reliable and none of the LEDS have failed ..yet! Have 2 on a lighting stand at one side of the stage and their sound activated sensor just changes the patterns in time with the music. You can of course connect them to an external controller too.

So at their current price they are good value but don't expect a really bright light!

Great Value

I love these things. For the amount of money I spent on them they are great. Easy to use and set up. I have had great time programming with them. The light they give off is great for the small venues the band plays in and gives the improved visual effect when playing to help add to the atmosphere. For the larger events for gigs with an audience 4 of 5 hundred, 8 of the lights is not enough.

I love how easy they are to control with a DMX controller. As an on stage lighting sollution I wish the 8th dip switch wasn't an overide switch and could be used for addressing for DMX. However being able to use the switches to set single colour for family Haloween parties last year was ok but felt this could have been done as easily with a DMX controller. Also think the first and 5th channels are a bit of a waste. Think they only need to colour mix RGB. Think three channels would have been fine can't say I have ever used channels 1 and 5 with any degree of satisfaction.

Feel the build quality is a little short with screws undoing themselves over time. Even the entry point for the power cables have unscrewed. Though they are 5 years old now.

Overal happy with the product just a little sad that you can only use up to 25 cans on a single DMX universe. Despite the down sides my intension is to purchase more of these.

Stairville LED PAR 56 Black 151 LEDs

The par can is great for cheap uplighting or for some background mood lighting

for band or dj or stage show. The item is lightweight and easy to carry around.

I would suggest a bag to keep in as it will get damaged and scratched.

If you using for uplighting you would need to order some floor plates or make your own. The light output is ok and would be sufficient enough for small rooms or dance floor or the case of uplighting, low walls.

Long life and stay cool. they dont heat up like the halogen bulbs.

For the price you cant go wrong.

Handy for static lighting, not recommended for sound activated

I have four of these lights. I am a DJ for modern jive partner dancing, with an audience of between 50 and 150. I use these lights to light up the floor from a height of about 1.5m, with static colour.

The brightness of an individual unit is enough to shine about 2 meters. I use four together on a lighting T-bar, the combined brightness lights up an area of around 5m by 5m.

The functions are minimal. You can set static colours using red/green/blue at 0%, 25%, 50% and 100% intensities. There is Auto Fade which fades between six colours over a configurable time. There is also Auto Change which is sound activated, this is not very good at the volume I play music: even at the lowest sensitivity the lights change too fast.

There are more colours available in DMX mode, which I haven't used.

PARCAN

It is a really useful light. It has a wide colour wash which is great for pub gigs. It is pretty bright but you would need something quite a bit brighter for stage gigs or gala performances. I have used it quite a lot at small discos, though. It is great value for money and I'll have to give it a 5-star rating.

25 Pounds for the PERFECT low cost lighting solution

Coupled with the Tbone T-bar this offers a greatly expandable and portable lighting rig! A set of 6 replaced our 8 iColour filament lights and they are so light and so cool! No heat thanks to the LEDs!

Excellent for the price

Having bought many of these I have found them to be ideal for uplighting. Having used 30 at one time in a marquee they transformed it into ever changing colours with the use of a Stairville Transcension 2 controller. Regularly used in all venues.

Excellent colour spectrum, DMX controllable - perfect

I bought these to back up my standard PAR56 cans. These lights are excellent; although they are not as powerful as my lamp driven cans, they provide a superb array of colour options, sound to light (which is a little sensitive), fixed colours and DMX controllable. All for a small cost - recommended!

Basic, brilliant and affordable!

This parcan is the most basic of the range of LED Parcans, but that doesn't mean it won't do the job. I have 4 of these currently and they are all extemely lightweight, robust and effective for simple colour effects, a close up wash on a wall, or as part of an event/disco setup. The affordable price means the more you have, the more effects you can create. One small draw back is the 8 dip switches meaning a total channel combination of 255 rather than a useable range on this unit of up to 510, so in larger rigs they may have to be sensitive to the address chain. They respond really well, the electronic dimmer is smooth and the colours are punchy and effective for a small venue. The colour blending is not even as the LED's are exposed, but for colour effects as part of a disco/event, they are perfect. They also come with a grilled colour frame for adding Frost if needed.

could be better

I was a bit disappointed when I realised that the sound to light sensitivity could not be adjusted. I would have happily paid a bit more for this if it was available. I don't recall whether the product details on the web page were clear on this when I ordered, but I did expect it.

Too sensitive

The built in microphone is too sensitive to our taste. The lights blink all the time when the drums are playing. It's not much light either, can't compesate for an old fashioned par 56.
