Intimidating pedal but sounds great

This pedal sounds fantastic. Great quality effects and no unwanted noise.

Overwhelming potential ? perhaps the only decision to be made here is as to whether for the price you will make use of all the features.

If you are the sort of guy who only needs one or two reverb sounds and doesn?t like tweaking maybe this one isn?t for you.

But with midi capabilities the possibilities are endless here for reverb junkies.

Amazing reverb

Really happy with it. You can get both classic and some special unique sounds from it.

Shimmer mode is amazing

Big Sound!

What can one say about Strymon's reverb? Big, big sound. Really flexible unit with a simple yet sophisticated set of parameter controls for various reverb types and even a tape echo emulation. Vast array of presets is a good place to start with own presets. But in fact it's quite easy and fast to dial in any possible combination of parameters.

The only minor thing that could be improved is that the input is easy to overdrive with stronger signals i.e. from loud synthesizers which leads to clipping. Though this can be solved by lowering the input signal on the instrument itself. But I guess there is no problem with guitar signals.

One of the best pedals ever built

The Strymon Big Sky is one of the best reverb pedals around. You can really dig the ambience of some of the effects, crispness of others and the ability to adjust tones, modulations, decays, delays, etc. The cab filter is a very useful add-on for DI in studio or live performances.

The Cloud effect is one of my favourite. When you try tweaking every effects of the pedal, you can choose the most accurate sound effects.

It has a solid construction, very reliable and responsive. You can't find any solution like this one, not even close. I preffer this one instead of Timeline because this one is more intuitive and the algorithms are superb.

In Strymon website, you can download firmwares, presets and be in touch with a huge community.

Big Sky Big Sound!

The Strymon Big Sky is one of the top reverbs around that features in the loop of my board.

I really dig the spaciness of some of the effects, crispness of others and the ability to adjust tonal response. The ability to kinda blend reverbs and delays are pretty cool as well.

The cab filter is a useful add-on for DI in studio or live into the desk.

All round a brilliant pedal and an asset for every board and studio.

Best Reverbator

Big Sky is something of a triumph, producing hyper-realistic rooms, ambient space trips and everything in between with ease and finesse. It simply one of the best reverb processors available today.

Super

Extremely versatile effect unit.

It features many different (and superb sounding) reverb algorithms, which can be tweaked in very fine detail.

You can tell that Strymon put a lot of thought into the design, and I especially like the small details like keeping the preset button pressed down will "freeze" the reverb with endless sustain.

The preset management can feel a bit clunky, but then again this is a pedal unit. I haven't tried out the Library software but I imagine it makes it easer to move around presets.

Hooking up the Big Sky to midi, you can control presets and params from your DAW.

Reverberated Bliss!

I bought all 3 of the high end Strymon pedals for my new GigRig G2 based pedalboard and I have not been disappointed. The Big Sky has a very simple user interface so is easy to program and save patches. Sound quality is superb and there are more patches than you could ever use. The factory patches are great and the unit is fully midi controllable. The only negative comment I can make about it is the absence of a midi mapping facility. The ability to use an expression pedal is also a great feature and any parameter can be controlled with this in real time. Also several parameters can be controlled simulataneoulsy. Strymon also offer a free download of a PC librarian software to archive and store patches and also preform firmware upgrades. A midi interface is required to use this though. I use the midi sport uno which worse great for this purpose.

Worth Every Penny

After seeing all of the video demos of this product on the web, if you are thinking of buying this, or are on the fence, just do it! The sound and functionality is just superb. It will blow any reverb pedal you have previously used out of the water for luscious hall, plate, spring, room and shimmery blooming sounds. The controls are easy to use, and I was creating and saving my own sounds within minutes of turning it on. The sound quality itself is so great that if connected to an audio interface using balanced cables and the correct impedance matchers, it can be used as an outboard reverb unit to rival rack gear worth 3 or 4 times as much cash. I barely touch my reverb plugins when mixing now that i have this.

Strymon Big Sky

I first saw this effects pedal on Youtube videos after doing a search for reverbs. I was immediately impressed by the quality of the sounds and decided to order one on that basis. I have not been disappointed. This box has redefined the meaning of the word "reverb" for me, and it is now an important component in my sound.

Big Big Sky!

I'll start off by mentioning it's aesthetics. The Big Sky is simply beautiful. It's shapes & size combined with it's turquoise colour, is a great combination. This is my first effect processor that I bought, and I love it. It's 12 reverb types are really beautiful as they are, these can be edited and stored/saved. The Big Sky can save up to 300 presets . It's knobs also have a very good feel to them. At first glance I was confused, but then I looked at the manual and it was quite easy to use. I would recommend this product to anyone who is interested in buying it and is having second thoughts. I mainly use it with some analog synths. Hook this thing up with an analog synth and it will send it to heavens!!

Big Sky is a MUST-HAVE !

Never thought a reverb pedal would find its way into my rig but the strymon big sky is a must-have monster as far as i am concerned... and the 499€ seems like a high price until you use the thing and realize that its actually quite a bargin....

the sounds are not to be described, simply fantastic. 5 stars

Truly inspiring, limitless choice of reverbs and good spring reverb emulations too

This is the reverb to end all reverbs in my opinion. Yes, it's relatively expensive for 'just a reverb pedal' but the sound quality and options make it worth every penny. As with all Strymon gear, there is just the right amount of control over certain things, so you don't find yourself wasting hours of time changing useless early reflection parameters and things: it just lets you get on with the music, rather than becoming a code programmer. The chorale and shimmer modes are really beautiful and with just a guitar and this pedal you could probably create an entire film's soundtrack. Great stuff.

Creative tool

This reverb not only does all the "basic" reverb sounds you may need, but some of the more creative reverbs open new possibilities. It is a very creative pedal and the Freeze / Hold features are awsome
