Superlux HD-669 Reviews
decent headphones on a budget
As good as any headphones in this price rang ive used - a bit on the bulky side but they're good enough to track with and are very comfy! They're not mixing headphones, but fine for listening/recording with, as i say for this price point cant go wrong getting them!
Good headphones monitoring and music listening
Headphones are very similar to the HD 661 in shape and sound. They're a bit more comfortable thanks to the different headband design that's not as tight on the head.
They also sound better than a lot of pricier headphones.
Good feature is detachable cable (comes with 1 m and 3 m cables) - you can use them with portabe player (1m long cable) and in studio or with hi fi equipment - 3m long cable.
Ovarall - very nice headphones, i personally spent many hours mixing music.
I use these for tracking and for the money these can't be beat.
Nice comfy earpads although a bit tricky to adjust so be careful.
The sound isn't bad but for the price you wouldn't be mixing with them unless you had no choice.
As i stated earlier i use these for tracking as well as practicing drums and they do the job perfectly.
Very happy with my purchase.
sounds good
fair deal as one of the cheapest head phones but builded with great quality
Stunning
I have roughly around 14 sets of headphones & these are in my top 3
i use them daily (along side the dt 770 & hd25) for editing, mixing & daily listening.
-Pros
+Build Quality is super solid
the removable mini-jack-type connection is a freaking lifesaver, it has saved me & musicians from breaking the cable like +10 times
+Fit
the support wings have metal arms so you can bend them to fit abnormally large or small head sizes
+sound quality is superb
its insane for this price, it easily beats other cans 6x its price. i measure (frequency analyse) all my headphones & there are super small differences in the Left Right hi end (+7K) response which adds depth to the stereo spectrum.
overall response has flat mids, 10db sub boost (20-90hz) & 7dB hi end (5K-12K) boost (with a typical 3.5k cut)
+price
you shouldnt be able to break em, but if you do, its not even a big deal
Cons
-Comfort
the original ear cushions are a good quality but they are a to firm for me so i ll be upgrading them with Brainwavez hm5
Very Good Headphones!
I'm very satisfied with the bass and with the external noise reduction, everything is as mentioned on the description of the product! The only thing that I didn't like much is the comfort of the headphones, in an hour of use I got tired. In general the Superlux HD-669 are great, especially at this price!
Amazing sound!!!
Can't believe how the price/quality-ratio works theese days...????
Superlux headphones
Easy to wear even if you have them on for many hours.
The quality of the sound can easily be compared to much more expensive headphones.
Good for the money, but there's better options for not much more money
I wanted a pair of beater headphones for people tracking that I wasn't too worried about, so I grabbed these.
First off, the build quality seems pretty good. I haven't had them long, but for the most part they seem reasonably solid.
They came with 2 cables (long and short) which is nice, but the short one will never leave the box. There's also a clip that holds the cable in place - good for someone not moving, bad if someone steps on a cable, as rather than the cable detaching, you throw your cans on the floor.
Adjusting the size is a nightmare - incredibly stiff, with no external markings to make it clear when both sides are equal. Better tight than loose though I guess. Also, they have these weird separate foam blocks sitting on your head - I've never used something like that before, and I'm not a fan. They're at an odd angle, it feels weird, and seem kinda flimsy. Once everything is set and they're on your head, they're fine though - tight but not too tight, reasonably comfortable for a couple of hours.
Sound is where they win over though. At first they felt bass-light, but actually it's just not hyped like in many headphones. The bass goes pretty low, but it's never over-powering, which I like, and it's reasonably tight. The highs take a while to burn in - they were crazy harsh at first, but after a day of running loud white noise through them it's much better, and getting mellower all the time. It feels like they go higher than most of the other headphones I own - they aren't top heavy, but I feel like there's something happening right at the top I don't usually hear. Mid range is detailed and clear. Over all, they seem pretty well balanced - pretty unexciting for listening to music on, but probably flat enough to use as a reference for mixing. The lack of hype should mean they won't be too fatiguing for long tracking sessions either (assuming the high end continues to soften).
Honestly, at this price I wasn't expecting much - but they sound way better than I thought they would, and the feel more solid than I expected. I can put up with the weird headband blocks and the crappy adjustment when the sound is this solid. For a bit more money, there are definitely better options, and I'd always go there first. If you've already got a bunch of headphones and just want another flavour, these are a decent bet though.
Really good headphones
I have used the Superlux HD-669 with my Roland Juno-DI keyboard, and have no complaints. They deliver really great sound, in par with more expensive ones. They are quite durable, they have never broken down for several years of moderate use. I highly recommend this headphone set.
Best Sound for money...
Best phones for money .
Excelent sound, powerfull bass .way better than expect.
Only bit to tight for me.
Finish quality are good for that money.
Wont be disappointed for sure.
Will buy again.
Used before Phillips headphones way more expensive but they no match to HD-669.
my precious
I've bought them mainly for mix/master monitoring.
Pros... well they are awesome when it comes to the sound quality and enviroment isolation.
Cons.... there's only but one and it might bit just because I have quite big head, they are bit too tight on the head. I would recomend taking some breaks when working with them.
Would definetly recomend them to anyone and for the price it's a steal
Excellent
Sounds very open and BIG! Comfortable on the head. Nice with one long and one short cable.
Great sound but uncomfortable
I purchased these headphones to listen to myself through my guitar amp and for general PC usage from listening to music to gaming.
For the price I was very pleased with the sound quality. For me they had a good amount of bass and sounded great no matter what genre of music I was listening to (I did do a bit of software tweaking but overall they are very versatile).
My only complaint is that they are extremely uncomfortable. I don't have a particularly large head but they were far too tight and I could not wear them for more than 30 minutes at a time.
Very good value for moeny
I bought this headphones for my recording studio few weeks ago and already used it in several recordings. Although they cannot be really used as the reference headphones they work very well as the recording monitors for musicians. I had number of musicians using it for couple hours and none of them ever complained about the comfort, signal level, noise cancelling or sound quality. Mixing on this headphones may be a bit difficult as they (in my opinion) have a bit too much lows (as it often is in budget closed headphones) and lack of clarity in mids, however please be aware that I'm comparing it to the DT-880 Pro and K240MkII that cost 10 times more. The difference between hi-end and HD-669 can be clearly heard but on the other hand they not that far from them in sound and build quality as they are in price which is very good thing. I have to say that so far this are the best budget close cups headphones I've ever had in my 20 years career. I would recommend it to anyone that need good monitoring headphones. They can't be beaten by anything else at this price tag.
"super-Deal"
This headphones are a good option not just for beginners. They have good quality drivers, not expected for this price.
They are also very comfortable, it is not a pain at all having these in the head.
The isolation is pretty good, you can safely use them for the vocal monitoring when recording.
The overall quality is not premium, is just good enough, as expected in this price point.
If you just use top-end equipment, you can have this as backup headphones, you won't be repentant.
For homestudio or beginner, this is more than enough, you wo't need other headphones anytime soon.
Very pleased
I bought these because I wanted a pair of closed headphones for use when recording. I have been very pleased with them, not only with the noise isolation (for which they were purchased, but also because the sound quality is very good for such a cheap set of headphones. The frequency response is pretty flat, and the tonal reproduction is excellent.
There is a good length of cable so that you don't have to stand next to your audio interface or mixing desk if you are recording in the same room as your equipment.
I now tend to prefer these to my pair of Sennheiser open cup studio headphones when working with headphones. As mentioned earlier, they cut out a lot of background noise and allow you to concentrate on the music an mix (if that is what you are using them for) and they are comfortable to wear for long periods.
I've been very impressed with Superlux and will definitely be considering their mics in future.
Affordable Earphones
I love these earphones! They deliver a very high quality sound with good balance all round. Excellent for recording and listening back to your pieces of music with clarity and depth. I have rated them five stars all round except for comfort as they can get uncomfortable when using for longer periods of time which is reasonable. They are cheaply priced and i'm very surprised with the quality of this product giving their low price. The detachable connection jacks which offer a short and long reach is a very nice addition and quite useful for certain situations. I have been using them for over a year and they are still performing extremely well with no problems. Highly recommended.
Best Budget Headphones You'll Find
I bought these so I could work on audio projects late at night and as I never really liked working with headphones I didn't want to spend a huge amount of money. I came across these and thought at the price it was worth a go.
The sound quality is easy to work with, they're extremely well built and as a nice little packaging accessory come with a protective bag, cable clip and also 2 lengths of cable. I'd recommend these to anyone looking at monitoring on a budget as my only drawback is they can be quite uncomfortable after 2 hours of use.
comfy and great sounding.
For a 'Budget' pair of headphones these are superb. Not entirely linear but do the job. I've bough four pairs to all be used for live style recordings. Used them a few times without any complaints so far from the musicians.
if you get the ohmage right on the headphone amp these can get these quite loud before distortion.
