Great sound but uncomfortable

Great sound, lots of bass without sacrificing highs, but very very heavy and uncomfortable

Fantastic sound let down by build quality

These are BY FAR the best sounding headphones I have ever used in my life, with great treble and fantastic bass response. They are light and comfortable as well.

HOWEVER, build quality is a let down, especially the flimsy cable connector is GUARANTEED to give up the ghost within a year or two even if you are extremely careful. I know this, having purchased THREE sets of HD-681 Evos :(

Quite ok headphones with one main problem

I bought these headphones mainly for just listening to podcasts, audiobooks and so on. They are quite comfortable to wear, although just a bit too big for lying down. The sound is also ok, but a bit too bassy for me. Of course these are matters of taste, but the main problem I have with them is as follows: The two reasons I bought these headphones were the price and detachable cable. Here's the thing, the jack you plug the cable in dangles from a small bit of wire, so it completely defeated the purpose for the detachable. The headphones broke after about 6 months of use. After that I bought Fun Generation HP-7 headphones and although even cheaper they have served the purpose described above for almost two years.

Good headphone, terrible cable design

I bought this as a replacement for the excellent HD681B because using them at workplace, you run over the cable with your chair all the time. So I thought a headphone with a replaceable cable would last longer. But for this, the cable should mount inside the headphone. Instead, this headphone has a short, stubby breakout cable which, you guess it, breaks after a short while, rendering exchangeable cables useless. Apart from that, good headphone. Buy the HD-681B instead.

Great sound but...

I've been using Superlux cans for a few years now and it's very hard to fault the sound they deliver, although not as flat as you might want for production work they do offer a great reference point for the low end and very high frequencies.

The HD-681 Evo BK do offer the great sound that I've enjoyed from Superlux over the years but the build quality is shockingly poor at best. I returned my pair quite quickly so I can't talk as to the longevity but the plastics are extremely cheap feeling and overall construction is not good at all. I know these are very cheap headphones but still, I expected a little more from this brand.

I found the fit didn't work for me at all, maybe I have a smaller than average head, I don't know but they felt slack and this hindered the compression with my ears and thus limiting bass response and mostly comfort, also worth mentioning this has a big impact if you wear glasses and not a positive impact to say the least.

The positives are purely in the sound, full low end, maybe a little too full for some, punchy mid range although not quite as driven as I'd like and smooth treble, all told you will have a great listening experience here if you are OK with the build and comfort factor these provide.

Not very comfortable

I purchased these to replace a failing set of Sony mdr-cd480.

I use them for listening to music during work hours, so they are on my head for the most part of an 8 hour day. As such, comfort is very important to me.

Unfortunately, they are not as comfortable as my old Sony's.

- The ear cups are not very spacious, and rub my relatively large ears. The felt earpads do fit better.

- The head band has no elasticity or stretch, making it dig into my head, which over long hours becomes quite uncomfortable.

Sound wise, compared to the Sony's they are in a different class. Amazing clarity and detail, and a load of bass.

The drawbacks to the sound were:

- Too much bass, i.e. on bassy tunes I would sometimes have to take them off due to discomfort.

- Too much detail, basically makes listening to poor quality music sound terrible, i.e. they emphasize crackling and hissing.

- Relatively low volume.

On other issues:

- They make a nasty clicking noise when you take them off, as if they are about to break

- There's not much external sound let in, but enough to hear your name called.

- Unfortunately mine failed after a few months (bad contact in left ear).

Overall they do sound really great, but nothing more.

Easy to brake, like i have done, but i have repaired it myself. . To much middle tone for sound-tuning,mixing and mastering (Anyway, better use monitor speakers for that.) ,but ok for me to record vocals with then. .. .
