Superlux HD-681 Evo WH 5-stars Reviews
Bang for bucks
Bought this because the cable on my 668b was breaking (the short cable between the male jack and the headphone), maybe not the best idea to get another set of headphones with the same problem but I liked the sound and wanted to get something with a different sound signature but still similar, I think I made the right choice, I believed this was going to be too muffled on the highs compared to the 668b but that's not the case, the highs are mellower but not by that much, I think the bigger difference is actually on the lower mids that pump more on the 681 evo, overall I like it better for listening to music, though both are awesome for the price.
The velour pads are a bit disappointing, they are not as soft as the aftermarket pads I got for the 668b, but they are compatible so used them on the 681.
I've got also a 662f, however I think that one is more fitting for critical listening, the highs are quite fatiguing so it's not in the same league as the 681 evo and 668b if you want to listen to music

great sound
great sound and very comfortable
the short cable should be replaced by an input , it is a very weak point
For the price a great headphone!
Not your standard review.
I got 5 pairs of these for my cousins kids and Ive heard nothing but good things back.
Based on my own use of the Superlux HD-668 B I needed to get the kids headphones as they were killing each other for the two pairs they had between them. One little chap has aspergers and likes to isolate himself in music when things are tough for him.
So I knew anything I got for the kids had to be 1) cheap enough to get 5 pairs 2) cheap enough that if they trash them its not the end of the world and can be replaced easily 3) all exactly the same so there would be no fighting for the 'better' ones 4) comfortable enough both physically and acoustically for kids to use them for hours on end with their phones/tablets/gaming systems.
I love my HD-668 Bs so had no worries getting the HD-681s. I did think I would need to get the replacement velour pads as I did for my own - but the kids love them! I have not heard a peep or a complaint (in fact the opposite) so to me that speaks volumes, if the kids like them they pass my tests!
For the price they are very, very easy to recommend!
not bad.... i wish it would have a volume control ....
Great Product
Very comfy and they sound great. highly recommend
Wife was jealous, so I bought an extra pair!
It fits her head much better than it fits mine, and the overall build quality is more than fine, considering the cost.
This is a really well-rounded kit. Additional velcro and cables - all nice touches. The sound is clear, sound isolation is also fine considering it is only a semi-closed design.
If there is one thing I would change, it's that 3.5mm jack that is hanging out from the left side and feels like it's going to be the first thing to break.
good
good headphones for price.
Great sound, irrespective of the phenomenal value for money
I picked these up as something to use for late-night practice/recording, and to add to my collection for another soundsource for mastering. I'd heard good things about Superlux, but I'm genuinely astounded at how good these are for the price.
The response from the drivers is very clear and articulate, with no noticeable colouring at any level or frequency. They simply reproduce the sound exactly as it was intended.
In terms of fit & finish, the Evo is well made and feels robust enough to last for a good while. Generally they're very comfortable to wear, even for extended periods of two hours or more, but I do find the headband slips a little bit from time-to-time - that could just be me though, and is far from a dealbreaker.
I would recommend these to anyone looking for a good all-round pair of headphones for playback, recording, mastering, or even gaming!
Great value headphones
These may not be the best headphones money can buy, but for this price I would struggle to find anything even remotely comparable. When I bought them they were 65 EUR, and they sounded like a pair of 120 EUR+ headphones.
I see nowadays the price is about half of what it used to be, so they just became an even better value pair. If you want good sound, but are strapped for cash, I heavily recommend picking a pair of these up.
Great headphones for its price
Excellent sound quality, plastic shell, velour earpads included. Leaving the headphones out on a folded pillow for two nights has improved its wearing comfort
Just great.
Now Im no expert but I think these are, like Donald would say: just great, great, great. Had them for 6 months they unetentionaly fell a couple times. No problems whatsoever.
Just the other day a memeber of my band came over to listen to some mixes and first thing he said. "these headphones sound great".
Affordable general-purpose stylish headphones
These headphones are good all-around phones, very cheap for their quality. As a general rule of thumb, you will notice a difference when you compare these ones with most big brand ¤150++ phones but for any budget under say roughly ¤80 you won't so you'll save quite a lot. Just equalize them to your liking, but out-of-the-box it's also good. I use them often to practice guitar, bass and keyboards, and compose songs, without any significant hurdles.
Comes in black and white and I must say even though I usually prefer black, white is quite stylish on these!
The most notable con is that others will hear your music, but you'll have to shell out more for good sound isolation anyway. I use them in a studio and not in public so that hasn't been a problem, ever.
The installed pads can get hard on the ears after 1-2 hours, but the included replacement soft pads are somewhat better. It can vary from person to person (my head circumference is about 59 cm).
It's a 3.5 mm socket on the phone, and an included 3.5 mm cable running to my interface, which is then feeds into my monitor with an included 3.5 to 6.35 mm adapter.
Amazing sound quality
I bought these headphones to use with my e-drums. Before using them for this, I tested them at home comparing with a way more expensive pair of Audio Technicas and I can say the sound was very close to them. The bass response is incredible, the frequency response specified is true, bass and sub-bass is delivered deep and clear while highs are not too over the top. They are open-back headphones so there is no sound pressure on the ears but everyone can hear what you are listening to. After wearing them for about an hour yo can feel them pressing against your head but that's ok with me considering the excellent price and sound quality. Highly recommended
Best for the price
Sound warm and bass. Comfortable sound.
Comes with 2 cables. Short cable useful when I'm using headphones at home and don't want to have too many wires around and the longer one is very useful in studio.
Built quality is awesome. White high quality shiny plastic.
The bad thing is that I can't use it for longer than ~2 hours because it starts to be uncomfortable. But after 10 min rest I can continue using it, so that's not a big deal... It's a personal thing I think.
It the best sounding headphones for the price.
Excellent overall!
These are my first headphones, previsously i was using only earphones. First thing, i am blown away from the sound quality. I cant believe that there could be such a big difference, i hear details and the sound has suddenly come to life!
At the begining they sounded trebly but after 1-2 months they got balanced. The cord is somewhat rubberised meaning it will get stuck at times on clothes etc. They are quite comfortable and the more you use them the more comfortable they get. 2 sets of pads, 2 cords, 1 and 3 meters, excellent sound quality, at that price its a must!
Edit: 1/2017 the jack started to cut the sound and i should find certain position in order to work properly, finaly it was unsuable. Also the thing over the head that adjusts and keeps the headphones in place was cut but i didnt mind wearing them without it. I admit i was not the most careful user but i expected a lot more duarabilty especially from the cord since its a crucial part. -1 on quality
This is probably just a write-up of what you already know...
What can I say? They're a sub-?30 pair of Superlux headphones.
Having tried the old HD-681s which were an amazing pair for the price, I can say that the Evos are that and bucket-loads more!
I was pleasantly surprised upon opening the packaging to find two cables; a short one, perfect for use with a portable device and a longer one, perfect for use with, well, anything that's a little further away. The headphones themselves have a male 3.5mm jack on a short cable extending from the left ear cup. This allows you to replace the cable with any after-market cable should you so desire. As both cables are female on one end, they can be combined to create what is possibly the longest cable I've ever seen on a pair of headphones out of the box!
Also included is a small clip which helps ensure that the attached cable does not come lose, but use without it was not an issue in the slightest.
A 1.4 inch jack is thrown in for good measure along with a second pair of pads made form a soft, breathable fabric which is extremely comfortable and is great for longer wearing sessions.
If you've owned or read/watched/heard reviews of the old 681s, you'll have heard many say that they had quite sharp and fatiguing treble. A common fix was to place a cotton pad in the ear-cup to act as a sort of filter. This has be addressed in the Evos and adds even more to their great sound. I primarily use these for light gaming at times when I'm not at liberty to use my surround setup and as such, the semi-open build lends itself quite well to my needs.
The sound-stage is excellent without sacrificing isolation and without having to fork out a few hundred euros for a much higher end pair of cans. On top of that, the detail throughout the spectrum is great, with clean highs, warm and 'full' sounding mids and deep, mud-free bass.
Overall, these headphones are hands-down the best pair I've yet to use in this price range and are a must have if you're looking for a great value pair to add to your collection, or maybe to start it!
Positive experience
Got these out of curiosity and for occasional use at home. Ended up bringing them to office for listening music there as these are much more comfortable with the included velour pads than the in-ear plugs I used until got these.
I have no issues using these in the open office, not disturbing anyone and I prefer to hear if people are talking next to me.
They are a bit plasicky and not sure how long they will last, but no sign of wear and tear after about 5 months of use.
The sound is fine and for the price very good.
Overall so happy with these that may end up getting a second pair.
Great value & comfortable
I thought my old hifi headphones were quite good until I got these.
I've never used expensive studio headphones so can't compare to those, but these sound very good to me. Probably good enough for most of us!
They're very comfortable - I can wear them for ages easily.
They seem pretty durable too - I've had mine for a year with no problems.
They're semi-open, so you can hear the audio outside the headphones. But it is pretty quiet.
