Superlux HD-662 Reviews
great headphones
have and use them over 4 years and still work just fine with no signs of wear. For their price are quite good
Better than expected
On moment when put on, I understand that this was good choice. On moment I started to play song, I understand this was perfect choice for music production! And shipment was fast.
Decent, but 681 sounds better
Bought these for monitoring in a studio.
The isolation is decent and it doesn't need that much power compared to a Beyerd. 770.
The sound is noticably worse compared to their 681(K240 copy), but, as long as you use these for budget monitoring, they get the job done.
Cable is also quite bad, as with most Superlux products.
They broke after 2 weeks of usage
The right, stopped working after 2 weeks of usage, I know how to use headphones and how to take care of them, these I do not recommend.
Mediocre... as expected
Bought it as a second pair for reference use. Very happy with them, though. Of course I wouldn't use them for professional purposes
Very affordable and decent-sounding, reliability is an issue
At this price point, you're unlikely to find better headphones for recording purposes. Sound quality is pretty good, although for regular music listening situations, I'd personally dish out at least twice as much money. However, for recording live instruments, the sound is more than clear and balanced enough, and the sound isolation is probably enough for most people. Loud drums might still come through a lot, but if you play drums super loud, you're probably not too worried about having to push the headphones loud as well.
Reliability is a bit of an issue, which should be not suprising to anyone considering the price. With careful home use, these might last better, but in a more active enviroment, plugging the headphones in and out of headphone amps etc, you'll be looking at maybe 1-2 years of use out of a pair, which is still not that terrible. But with the more expensive industry standards, you're probably looking somewhere between 10-15 years of active use and even longer with proper care.
On a budget, these are possibly your best option. They won't last a lifetime, but will get you started.
10 years and still smooth
Overall a pretty good headphone for it's price.
Mainly i use it for playing the piano, behind the laptop for listening music without disturbing people around me too much.
The sound quality is very good, i'm using this headphone for about 10 years by now. Although the headphone band (with the Superlux logo) broke off and its headphone cushions show some cracks, it is still usable. It wraps around my ears pretty firm.
What i said before about 'without disturbing people around me too much', i meant that people around me still can hear my music.
So overall a good product with very good sound quality!
Comfort wise it's on the tight side which is okay to hold the headphone together after breaking off the band. The quality itself material wise for 10 years usage is also not too bad, so also okay for me.
pros :
Price/ sound quality
Very good sound quality
Tight, covers the ear well
Still in use for 10 years by now
cons:
Tight, caused me headache (because of my head size i guess)
Material: band broke off and shows cracks in cushions (after 10 years of usage)
People around can also 'enjoy' your music
Great Headphones
Great headphones! Really happy with them. Was unsure about the headrest but it is really comfortable! Just can become uncomfortable after wearing for a really long time, like any headphones to be honest.
Great budget headphones
I am very pleased with these headphones. Sound is great and even, perfect for recording at home, or even a professional studio. As far as quality goes, I haven't noticed any flaws and I doubt that I'll ever find any. As long as you take care of them they won't break so easily. One thing that I would count as a negative is that after wearing them for a while they become mildly uncomfortable. But that may be a personal issue
good during band practice
Perfect for monitoring while playing live with my band, I needed a cheap closed ear solution and I found it, sound quality is better than i expected and shuts out all the outside sounds when practicing at a high volume with a full band, wish the cable was longer but thats just a personal preference I believe its the same length as most headphone cables, can always get an extension. headphones stay on tight which is perfect and they are built solid, would not be afraid if they fell to the floor a few times.
Excellent for rehearsal use.
I use them only for rehearsal (sadly i play right next to the drummer :), and they have a very decent isolation for the price. The sound, although not accurate enough for studio use, is very workable for live/rehearsal use (dont overload the bass :). They are a little bit bulky and in the summer the heat might of consideration. Nevertheless, more than fair for the price and very usable. Highly recommended.
You get what you pay for
My only issue is that they are not very isolating and if i have a singer or an acoustic guitar player sometimes the mic picks up the metronome click
I like them very much.
I had some other headphones by a much more famous brand, yet, when I switched to these I could hear details I never heard before. Bought several, using them mostly for tracking, but I made several mixes using them.
For the price, they are amazing.
As good as headphones twice the price
Bought them for the musicians that come in my studio to record. Use them as monitors. These are closed back headphones so the sound doesn't go out or in. The sound is ok, the bleed is ok, comfort is ok and the quality is good. Nothing bad i can say about them, and nothing exceptionally great. These are just good headphones that work. And for the price these are just what i need. Recomend them for everyone that need recording headphones for monitoring. Don't use them for mixing, they are not meant to do that.
Very good for the price
I use these headphones in my home studio for recording bass and for rough mixing. They are not the best, but considering the price the headphones really get the job done. Since I haven't had any issues despite using them on a daily basis for over a year, I can say that they are reliable. Highly recommended (whether you are a serious musician or a hobbyist)
Best for the price
The sound is average to good, the sealing and soundproof is amazing given the price. Have 6 of these in studio for couple years now and everyone is happy with it as they're ridiculously loud!
Very nice
Very nice headphones for the price!
Nice!
I use these headphones for playing e-guitar trough Steinberg UR 22 & Guitar Rig/S-gear. They are good quality, fit nice on the head and sounds good. Cannot really compare to any other headphones but I can say the quality is there.
I recommend!
Nice Sound but uncomfortable
I use these headphones for my home recordings.
I really enjoy the sound quality of these headphones, they are really good but I really can't wear them for more than 20 minutes, my head and ears hurt everytime I use them because of their tight fit around the ears even fully opened.
I wouldn't buy it again for sure only because of their comfort lacking.
Great headphones for the price
Bought these for tracking bands and they are quite decent! Have a good amount of noise cancellation for getting sounds if your working in a live room environment. Not the best sounding ones but again they do the job for the price!
Use them for referencing mixes too to pick out problem frequencies and mix issues and they are quite accurate.
Love that it comes with a pouch and a 1/4" adapter that screws on the ensure it doesn't be get knocked out or go missing
