Fine headphones for their price
When I got these headphones I was slightly impressed by sound quality for such a price. I must say that they aren't so comfortable to use more than 1 hour, your ears will hurt.
After some time you will get used to it.
Good Sound
Compared to its price it deliver great sound, but if you wear it for a long time it becomes uncomfortable a little bit because of built quality but that's ok because you're not paying a lot for it.
Replace the pads and you get a far better headphone.
Price/performance - the best. I have also ATH-M50 and BDynamic 880 Pro, but I still use Supelux - for a change, for other reference, for music listening. You can buy it as first pair of headphones and You will use it for many many years.
good quality for great value
To be honest I bought these because they were cheap, the headphones i had been using for audio recording just gave out on me one day and needed to find a backup pair quickly until i could afford something better, but in all honesty I'm actually pretty happy with how these sound and they're made fairly sturdy, the only criticism i have for them is that after wearing them for awhile they become pretty uncomfortable, but this hasn't become too much of an issue for me and I'm only too happy to stick with these headphones for the time being.
Good sound, poor comfort and quality
Bought them long time ago for mixing/producing. Sounded good, clear, however the comfort was horrid, huge pressure on ears, pain was imminent using these, also, with original pleather pads these were really sweaty thing to use.
Poor build quality as far as cable connector quality comes - cable that runs from headphones to connector went bad after a while, no easy way to fix this other than removing their cable connector assembly completely and resoldering new cable inside the headphones thus making cable permanent.
+cheap
+said to be rather neutral
+rather good sound stage, ie, don’t sound compressed
+extra cables and carrying pouch included(one of the seams disintegrated rather quickly tho)
-poor build quality, cable that goes from headphones to 3.5mm female plug broke down very easily
-hot on ears, gets them sweaty
-very, very tight, not recommended for longer sessions, otherwise ear pain guaranteed, so you might want to put these on some kind of stretcher or something, to easen up their clamping force
Great value!
Bang for buck, these are excellent headphones for students.
Reasonably comfortable.
Sound quality is great! A little bright sound at first, but this settles after a bit of use.
Build quality is moderate. They're not tough, but not fragile either.
I would buy these again and again at this price.
Preity good for the price, but needs better pads for the comfort, with good pads is really good. Bets a lot of more expensive headphones under the ¤100 mark.
Surprised by the quality
For the price paid, I've got surprisingly good quality for my home recording studio. The headphones are obviously not in range of some high quality products, however, it serves the purpose for your home studio needs.
What I was expecting
The sound is not the best but if you compare with other headphones in the same price range I guess they are not bad at all.
It does get a little uncomfortable after a while.
Detachable cable is useful.
The headphones seem sturdy enough, but the jack adapter provided came broken
Good starting monitors
I use these headphones to play guitar from balanced output and mix/master my tracks.
For guitar playing I really like them. Neutral well balanced sound. For mixing I sometimes get lost with the low end. I'm not sure if it's just me or the clarity of low end in these headphones is not the strong part.
Quite a Surprise
So basically i didnt buy these they were given to me as part of a bundle offer when i bought my ms-20, however after using them (with an audio interface) i have to say i was very impressed with the quality of the low and high end.
The only con is the cables sturdiness, it doesnt hold as good as you'd expect however (cable is removable)
also they are shipped with an extra long removable cable !!
again for the price you really cant go wrong with the quality given.
Good value headphones
I bought these headphones to use them as monitoring in my home studio. They are very good value for the price.
Plugged into the headphone out of my amp head (Blackstar HT-5) they push a bit too much the high frequencies. However, plugged into my sound interface (Focusrite saffire pro 14) they sound very balanced.
Overall I am happy with how they sound, plenty of output. The fact you can unplug the jack is a nice feature. At the beginning they felt a bit uncomfortable, the ear pads were a bit too stiff. However, after a couple of weeks of use, they feel much more comfortable. They are also very lightweight which is a bonus.
I would say they are open, rather than semi open. There is lot of sound leakage, but at the same time they also sound very spacious and directional in stereo. So, good fro monitoring, not so good for recording with a microphone.
In terms of build quality, well that's not the good point of this headphones. It is just ok enough, they won't break soonish but they won't last forever. Only the flaps can be adjusted, the earpads are fixed (or at least they look like, seems to require too much brute force to move them).
Pros: decent value, balanced sound, plenty of output, detachable jack
Cons: take some time to get used to have them on, lots of sound leakage.
Great sound, not so great build
I mostly listen to rock from soft to metal, and a little bit of classical music. The sound is very clear, It`s easy to tell the instruments apart. The frequency range is wide and I can hear parts in the songs that I wasn't able to hear with my previous headphones (Marshall Major), along with that when i plug the headphones the the amp and play guitar along to a song i was able to hear both my guitar and the song clearly (They were kind of muffled with the Marshalls).
Of course at this price they have to compensate with something, and that something is build quality and comfort.
Not too say it`s too bad, It`s made of mostly plastic, so not very sturdy. The earpads are a little tough and I can feel a bit of pressure around my ear, but even after long use it doesn't hurt. Also the earpads can be easily replaced with more comfortable ones (There is even an explanation on how to do it in the manual).
The pads at the top are pretty comfortable, but they sometimes get stuck under the the two bows when i put them on, but a little wiggle and its fine, no big deal.
Also in regard to the high Impedance of the drivers, it is still possible to listen through a cellphone for example, but it is noticeably different, especially for the bass, you can hear it struggle.
Overall i would recommend this headphones for home use, and possibly at some point changing the earpads if you will fill it`s necessary
good sound but too open for my taste
headset is open , then can be heard outside , this can be annoying when trying to record in total silence; anyway sound is very good for the money .
Awesome value
I bought these a little while ago on the recommendation of a friend for use with my recording set-up.
Here's the positives:-
Very nice flat response - works well to monitor tracks 'uncolored' by bass or treble response.
As expected, great frequency range.
Has detachable cord - very useful to those like me who tend to trip over wires a lot.
Includes both a long (3 meters) and short cord.
Includes a gold coated plug adapter as well as a carrying case and a cable clip (although I haven't used the latter two).
Here's the negatives:-
Flimsy , plastic build. It has held up well for me but I suspect would not survive too much abuse. Do not sit on these headphones!
Plastic/rubber earpads - these get sweaty after a while.
In summary though these sound great and represent the best value for money in terms of audio quality. I would buy another pair if needed.
OK budget
OK budget headphones, neutral midrange, but to bright for me, the bass is a lot better on Superlux HD-685. Sensitivity is also low, (good for some ear's maby :-))
Cheap but good.
If you are broke and looking for some good quality headphones, this item is for you. I've owned them for over 2 years and they are in perfect shape.
Good sounds, quite plastic look and feel
OK, I'm not a studio wizard. Also I don't have expensive studio headphones to compare with. Crappy ones I do have.
The sound with these is super good and balanced compared to my previous entry-level Sony "studio monitor" headphones. How unbelievable it sounds, but even my home recordings have started sounding better. I mean they usually now sound good and balanced on the first test listening with home stereos, headphones and kitchen radio, which wasn't the case with my old Sonys. With the old headphones, on the first try always some frequency range was missing or too loud.
I have a really big head and these still fit perfectly, which is not the case with all headphones.
Only downside is that they look really plastic and are a bit sweaty and hot. Not too bad, though I can take that easily with this price tag.
Excellent speakers but uncomfortable headband
Ok, so first of all, they sound pretty good, and I dont get the sweaty ears with these like I do with the closed speaker models... If only the headband was more confortable, I could wear these all the day...
But I can't. The headband design is utter crap, I guess I just have too big head, because those "self-adjusting" pads will completely move out of the way and those plastic bands will leave deep grooves into the scalp. I'd have to switch their position all the time to get rid of that.
If the headband was better, I'd give them 5 stars for comfort.
First I thought that the semi-open design would eat away the deep bass, but it won't. I've just had some bad experiences with some other cheap open headphones. What the semi-open design actually does, is that after few hours of use, my ears are not sweaty at all!. And they won't block outside sounds, and I can hear stuff like the doorbell, phone ringing and even my tv, when I have the headphones on.
What I really like, is that the cable is detachable, there is the headphone plug right in the headphones... So I can use my own cable with volume control. Also it makes the cable easy to replace, if I accidentally destroy it by running over it with my chair.
