Very good and affordable.

These are amazing studio headphones for the price. Obviously they don't compare to more expensive models but for the price they are well worth it and highly recommended. My ears tend to get sore after an hour or so of use, though that may be due to my abnormally big head.

Great headphones

These sound great, and I would recommend them for both studio use or just listening to music. The only annoying this is that my daughter steals them all the time because they sound so good, I wish they could fix that :)

Great sound

I've had this headset for a little more than a year now, and i've used it for general music/video/gaming.

It has very great sound for the money. The highs are a little overrepresented.

The comfort is decent. It is wearable for hours, though my ears tend to be quite hot. The earpads does not come with great comfort, but can be replaced.

They don't show any signs of breaking even though I haven't handled them with care.

This headset has very great value for the money.

If you consider buying this, you might also look at Superlux HD-681 EVO. It is an evolved version of the HD-681 and comes with extra earpads.

More comfortable than Superlux HD-681 Evo

I got these headphones for my wife who said that Superlux HD-681 Evo BK were a bit uncomfortable to wear and would cause her a bit of discomfort after several hours of use.

Overall the sound is very similar to the Evo version. They sound very clear and natural and all the music I listen through them sounds how I think the sound engineers wanted it to sound. For the money these are great sounding headphones that I would use in a studio as an alternative to something more expensive.

Build quality seems to be great like the Evo.

What is missing though is a shorter wire and an option to disconnect the wire leading to the headphones. Most of the time these features don't matter but I have used both the shorter and longer wire of my Evo's.

All in all, very comfortable and good sounding headphones.

You just can't beat it

Considering the price these are great headphones. Not considering the price these are still really good headphones. They may not have the sexiness of more expensive name brand headphones, but they do pack a really good sound. For the price you simply can't go wrong!

The cable is fairly long. This is great for studio use. It might seem a bit to long if you'll only be using it with your phone or computer. But the cable is of good quality and will not get damaged easily.

They headphones are not heavy to wear but there are lighter alternatives to be had.

The sound on the other hand I am very impressed with. Both the top end and the bottom sounds great.

I would not recommend this product to Giorgio Armani because of the looks, but any person with a "value for the money mindset" will love these.

Great general purpose mixing cans

They look and feel a bit cheap, and the headband is cracking, but I would buy these again. I purchased a competitor headphone that is 10 times the price and I gave them away in favor of the superlux hd681. I have reasonable sonic access to the frequencies I find to be most useful for translation reasons, and I haven't needed to second guess myself due to having headphones that sound 'too good.' Although the high frequencies are said to be harsh, I just don't care because I personally feel confident enough that my mixing is happening the way I intend. Although I do not need more sets of these headphones, I swear to you that I have to resist the urge to buy more of these just because they are so cheap. But I should since I doubt they will outlast the pyramids. I do drop these on the floor every day almost, for let's say a year, and there is no problem yet.

Clear sound, enough bass, nice quality, not expensive - good choice.

It's really good for the price. If youre looking for a pair of headphones and youre broke. These are the headphones for you :)

Edit: I've been using them for almost a year now and they still work like new!

How to save bucks

I ordered these headphones after reading some very positive reviews and now after having used them for a few weeks, I totally agree with them. This is a lovely piece that lets me record, listen and mix in comfort with very good, clean sound and no disturbance to houshold. Now my studio speakers are retired and I'm doing all the mixing with my Superlux HD681 headphones. The only time I don't use them is when I record vocals with the condenser mic because the headphones are semi open and some sound can be heard from outside. These headphones are also great for listenning to music and bass, treble and highs all sound great. It comes with a 1/4 adapter that lets me connect it to my amp when I feel like playing guitar at nights through the amp. If you are looking for budget headphones with great sound, this is it.

Great headphones

Great studio headphones, comfortable with long cable so you don't need to be right beside your interface which is great for tracking vocals

Great sound quality which makes these a great entry level studio headphone for recording and mixing in a small studio or with a basic home set up

Superlux HD681

For a while, I was going out and buying all of the little Flavor of the Month headphones, searching for that actual "giant killer." Some of them I found to be pretty solid, others I was a little disappointed that there was so much hype for them. The one FotM trend that I found the most interesting, though, were the East Asian headphones that copied the designs of other companies and then put out a sound beyond their price -- companies like Superlux and Takstar. What attracted me to the Superlux HD 681s were the measurements that Tyll had on them from Inner Fidelity -- flat response, low price, high value sound. I bought them and they didn't disappoint

I thought they were broken, but to my suprise they were working suprisly good.

I am not really experienced with sound and professional audio equipment, and when I bought those I thought that they would be just a plain headset. Boy I was wrong.

I plug in it and I start hitting buttons on my piano and I am like "Damn, they are not working, what did I do wrong?". I get them off and trying to figure it out. I do one more test as-well, same results...

What it was actually happening was that it just isolated the external sounds COMPLETELY and divided the internal sounds in a way that It made my ears believed that the sound was coming from the speakers while it was actually coming from the headset.

Excellent item, would buy again.

Blown Away

i cannot belive the price for these headphones, its amazing what you can get for 20 euro, altough the highs are a bit favored i do not believe you can get a better set of headphones anywhere near the price of these.

Affordable must have headphones

I set out to create my own home studio, I required affordable headphones as I would be purchasing more than one set.

I bought one set of Superlux HD681 headphones and after using them I purchased another two sets.

The sound quality is very good, great tone from them.

The headphones are also very comfy when in use, which is a good thing if like myself. They will be used for lengthy recording sessions.

The build quality of these headphones seems very good, they show no sign of wear and tear despite being used constantly.

They also come with a carry bag which makes for easy transport or storage.

Over-all, very affordable headphones at a good price. I highly recommend.

WOW

so i wanted a cheap Headphone for my modular.

i allready killed me two expensive ones.

what can i say ?

WOW !

i never would have expected so much sound for so little money.

coming from the AKG 240 DF which allways lacked a good portion of Bass for me, i can vouch for the superlux HD681 to have enough Bass.

for my needs the HD681 just perfect in that regard.

the AKG 240DF has even more resolution on the highs, feels more subtle in that regard,

but for my needs the superlux HD681 is good enough.

.......It is good.

i do not mix, but have quite complex sound structures going from my modular.

much value for the money !

btw. it looks like a AKG 240 clone, feels the same, same design/ comfort

Good and cheap headphones!

These headphones have a very good value for money quality. I use them at home, when listening to music and they have a very clear and nice sound. All frequencies are audible.

The only disadvantage is that at first they seem very confortable, they are not so easy to wear after an hour or so. They fit well in the head but they tire you after a while.

To sum up, very good and cheap headphones not for studio but for entertainment purposes. And there, they deliver very well!

Pretty decent cans for the cash.

I've had a lot of very cheap headphones over the years and they all sounded terrible or they would just break in a matter of months.

These, on the other hand sound and feel pretty good. The build quality seems very robust and they're very comfortable to wear.

The only down side I can think of is the lack of a detachable cable.

I wish I found these sooner

BASS: It's there alright. I consider myself a basshead and I didn't find the bass lacking. It's not tight but the quantity is deifnitely there. It won't touch the XB700 (what headphone can?) and I actually think the Beyers and the X1s have it beat, but only just. To put it more simply: it's unlikely you'll find the bass lacking.

MIDS: Most of my headphones don't do mids particularly well as a consequence of my preferred sound signature. My ZX700s are my most mid-centric headphones and I don't like their sound very much. The Superluxes have a pretty good mid-range. It's not their strong point and it's still kinda withdrawn, but it's not nearly non-existent.

HIGHS: Oh God, my ears! Yes, the highs will make you scream! Bloody Norah! I thought my DT990s were bad! No, the DT990s are immensely refined in comparison. Absolutely no contest really. Treble is aggressive - very very aggressive. For this price, the best headphone ever.
