Great mic for the amps

This is a fantastic mic for guitar and bass amps. Built like a tank and very interesting sounding. I have a few of these actually and often prefer it to sm57s.

I use it to record PSG from a Peavey Nashville 112. Sounds good!

Surprising

These got a lot more use than I ever expected from them. Picked them up as a quick fox but never needed to trade them up. I mic a guitar cab with one and a bass cab with another. In both cases these are blended with other sources for recording but they always sound great for the price.

Good budget amp mic

I used to D. I for my previous amp and upgraded to a fender Deville,,, I purchased this as it was cheap and cheerful... It carries the sound as it should, works a treat. Its basic, does a good job..bod and connection sharf became loose after a couple of years basically due to the tight fit of the mic holder, which is the weakest link of the package. The supplied mic holder broke in a few places, I just loop the cable around the amp handle and hang the unit, works fine. Still going after over 6 years.

Great affordable take on a classic

This mic ranks far above what its price tag would suggest. Great build, sound and price. I use it live and in my studio and it sounds great! Just as good as its higher price counterparts.

Great sound for little money

It sounds very much like a SM57, just a tad brigher. I got two and have used them on both live and studio gigs with great results. Also the goose neck that comes in the pack is of great value when used on guitar amps that have a handle on top to clip it on to.

I do though wonder how the sound and quality will hold up over time, but for now I am very satisfied with this product and will recommend it. Just take a little care and do not abuse the kit, it is plastic.

Great mic and price

A great cheaper option compared to standard well known brands a perfect product for the budget minded. Dont be put off by cheap price its still a great product. I used for hanging over the front of a small amp and its as good as the usual suspects.

Really good VFM, and works shockingly well for streaming!

I've found myself using this mic as my voice mic for Twitch streaming, using my Presonus FIrestudio Mobile as my interface. and it works surprisingly well! Small to not be intrusive on face-cam, and sounds good as a spoken voice mic. Definitely needs healthy input gain levels on one's interface though - I have the input gain on my Firestudio nearly maxed for my speaking voice. But for £27, I am definitely not complaining!

Good mic for the price

I use mic for home guitar recording, sound is clear and accurate. Very good value for the money. Recommended.

A very fine amp mic

I really wanted an SM57, but I record just for fun so it did not make much sense. This mic? sounds great! The added clip is quite low quality so I would get a stand. The sound is quite bass'y but very nice. The mic is built like a tank and comes with a pouch. I believe this would be amazing for dual-mic recording to add some bass.

Heavy duty and sound great!

I use these in my live rig for close micing guitar cabs. They have survived for 6 years and have always been hung from the XLR ( I know, Bad habit) But these little puppies haven't died on me once!

Not an e906 but close enough

The 628 clearly tries to copy the Sennheiser e906. The physical design is very close meaning the application of letting it hang over the side of the amp/cabinet is still very much possible.

Soundwise it is not as clear as the 906. But it does come close and at around a fourth of the price, it is great value. At some point I will get the 906 though.

Characterful and useful guitar amp mic.

I bought this to augment my guitar amp mic collection. I've got heavy sounds covered with MB75s in a Fredman pair, but i was wanting something different for an edge mic.

This works well on its own for cleans just off-centre and i'd probably use it live for distorted guitar in that way too if i wanted a thicker sound than an MB75/SM57 provides. I would not hang it from the cable, it's just not prcise enough to keep the desired sound and this is very sensitve to positioning which makes it very good for creative use.

It's best used positioned near the edge of a speaker cone as a dark mic with a bright mic (SM57/MB75) right on the dustcap. It really brings out the 'roar' soound I associate with a cranked marshall.

The included mount works well to clamp to a mic stand set up to position another the same speaker allowing dual miking with one stand which is amazingly useful, although it is a bit flimsy feeling.

I would very much recommend one of these and something like an MB75 used together over a single e906 or SM57 for guitar in a home studio, and you can afford to do so. I've not had a chance to compare it to either as a single mic live, it's a bit more vintagey sounding and not as tight so I'd probably stick with the SM57 for live modern metal.

Used on spoken word it made me sound a little bit nasal, more apparent on full range speakers, and notably made my vocal fry really jump out, particularly on smaller speakers, giving a very authoritative newscaster sound to my voice, whereas a Unidyne type mic (yes, comparing this to my incredibly smooth 60s Unidyne model B and its descendents the SM57/SM58 and broadcast oriented SM7) is much smoother sounding. It's almost got the vintageyness I'd associate with an old ribbon mic, and I say associate because because it's very easy to listen with your eyes.

Using this for 7 years

I bought this mic when I was starting out on recordings and i still use it these days to record the bottom part of the snare and distorted guitar cabs. Sometimes I use it on drummer vocals because the pickup pattern rejects the back of it very well.

The sound is great for the price, even better than some 100£+ mics, better than sm57 in my opinion.

The only con is that the front grill is glued and over time it will fall off. You'll just need to glue it again.

Best Amp Mic for Price

I chose this mic for my fender Mustang to gog with because it didn't require a stand to use (just hang it over the amp). The sound quality is outstanding. You wouldn't think it is a cheap mic. Only thing I noticed is the lows and highs are very loud so I guess using an equaliser with it is compulsory.
