!ncredible mic for the price! I can recommend the Superlux PRA 628 MKII!! It is a secret weapon for miking your amps and cheap! U cant go wrong with it! Trust me :)

Cheap but do the business

I bought 2 of these to mic up guitar amp for live performances. They are solid built and have a great sound.

Excellent Microphone

This microphone really does perform better than its price would suggest. I was recommended these mic's by a local music venue and it has not disappointed at all. The sound is clear and crisp. Perfect for mic'ing up a guitar amp. Probably suitable for a cajon and other percussion too!

Sounds amazing

I bought this mic just to see, if Superlux is any good. It comes with a goosneck clamp and mic clamp. Both are made of cheap stiff plastic and I don't use them. I just hang the mic by the cable infront of the amp. Looks nicer and one less stand to carry around

The mic itself is built like a tank. Heavy and solid, virtually unbreakable.

Sound, it just blew me away! Compared to a Shure 57 you get a more dynamic and clearer sound. No spill from other instruments at all. There is so much detail in the sound, every small thing can be heard and felt.

For that price it ise a bargain and a must have!

Good budget

I have used this mic many times at local venues with good results.

I've even used it side by side with the Sennheiser 906. And although there was a slight difference in sound when, directly, comparing the two, it was perfectly acceptable and nothing a bit of EQ couldn't sort out. If you wanted them to sound the same. In fact, I even thought it sounded better on that gig. Of course, there are many other factors to consider there, mic placement, P A System, guitar amp, musical style etc..

It is larger ( depth ) than I had expected. Though it doesn't really make any difference when hanging in front of an amp.

I would recommend. I doubt it has the durability of the sennheisers etc, but at the price there is no complaints! You could buy 4 of these for 1 sennheiser..

Im really not too sure how much i actually liked this mic to be honest.

One of its tonal quality is it has alot of low and it seems to have a cut of high frequencies.

Maybe i didnt use it with enough guitar amps to see the true potential but i was not digging it.

I ended up pairing this up with the palmer DI box and blending them together, in this way the mic was great sounding when i wanted more lows and more body to the sound.

The mic is ok, and it comes with a clip etc, this is great value for money, but dont expect any screaming highs from it.

So i bought this for a home studio project and I really like this mic,I think it would sound lovely on a snare but havent had the chance to try it yet

Great microphone for anyone on a budget

Yes this is a microphone at a budget, but honestly the sound is on par with its competitors in this case the only reason why its cheaper is because you are not paying for the brand.

I have used so many high end microphones from Neuman condensers to Coles Ribbon microphones.

I would not use this microphone for vocal recording but in all honesty I never intended to use it for that application.

The place this microphone shines is right in front of a guitar cab/amp. It captures a full bodied sound with a nice transparency.

The only negative to this microphone is the case its cardboard with a faux leather zip up pouch.

All in all if you want a great dynamic microphone for recording guitar amps, snare drum and anything else loud this is the microphone for you.

Value for money mic!

I bought this mic for its good price and great shape. But I got more than I expected - its sound quality and quality in general is really great!

Mic stands use a lot of space, especially if you want to record something in a small room - by using PRA 628 MKII you just simply can hang the mic over the cab without any need of the stand. Best part is that it comes with a short (30cm) stand, so you don't have to buy one either way!

10/10 would buy again - not a single negative thing I can say about it. Just don't forget to get a cable for it!

I'm really satisfied with this Mic, i'm using it live and it sounds amazing! Looks like a copy of a much more expensive Sennheiser e609, due to it's shape it's very comfortable to have it hanging from the top of the amp without a stand... sounds great!!

EXACTLY WHAT I NEED

I was looking for a low cost amp mic and i like the Seinhiesser version of this mic, but I am letting pedestrians use my gear so this price is perfect and if it is to get damaged I will not blink to replace.

In terms of sound it can have a bit to much hi-end but with some gentle EQ it sounds perfect.

Great sound from this mic that is specially made for mixing cabinets. Really like the fact that the mic is designed to face directly into speaker, unlike the normal Shure hanging down at 90 degrees. Sounds great!

A great sounding Mic and a silly cheap price!

After using an SM57 for many years as my go to amp mic, I decided to give something new a try. I bought this for a sound engineering gig and was so impressed with it that I've now started using this a my main mic on my cabs with my own band. The sound is warmer and fuller than the SM57 and in my opinion more like the amps natural speaker sound. I may be purchasing a spare for this at some point in the near future.

This is an amazing microphone for it's price. I bought 2 of these to use on guitar amps in rock cover band, and they are amazing. No need to worry about stands as you can just hang them down.

Superlux PRA 628 MKII

This microphone is a real bargain for the price. Really nice, neutral sound with low feedback point and high SPL level. For me personally, it's a lot easier to dial a good guitar sound in a live situation, comparing to standards like SM57 or Beta57. The only negative side is the original holder which is made out of the stiff plastic and can be difficult to put on microphone.

UPDATE: after couple of years usage, I'll remove one star for the sound. It does a great job on a clean sound, but distorted guitar cuts better with 57/i5. Also, I had couple of weird feedback cases in a low volume situations, but normally, no problems with that. Still, for this price, it's a bargain.

For the price this can't be beaten!

I got this to mic up my old Marshall 1x12 combo amp and it works perfectly. The sound reproduction is quite remarkable. So for the price I can't complain. The only thing I can't comment on it is it's gigging durability over a long period of time.

i was sceptical due to the price, but after using it a few times it reproduces what i gave it very well.

I use it on guitars amps primarily, but have also had decent results on drums

The best budget solution?

Over the years I have used many different microphones of varying prices and quality when miking up my guitar amps. The ubiquitous Shure SM57 obviously has become the benchmark, but for the price, I felt there had to be a better solution.

After much searching, I found this Superlux mic and having heard a couple of encouraging sound clips online, I decided to take the plunge.

The mic itself is very well made, with a metal body and large head. Its an unusual diameter though, so you need the supplied clip to attach it to a mic stand. I did find that attaching it to the clip initially involved more force than I was expecting ? to the point that I thought it would break, it didn?t and it has got easier as time has gone by.

The supplied clip-on goose-neck hasn?t been as useful as I thought, as I have found that when using it live it is easier to dangle the mic over the front of the amp supported by its cable ? the sound when doing this is brilliant!

For recording, I have found it best supported by a small stand. I have used this mic for recording my amp AND I?ve found its great for acoustic guitar. It?s got an incredibly detailed sound, that is far beyond its inexpensive price tag.

In short, this mic punches well above its weight!

This mic is simply amazing for the money, were you would pay £93 for the industry standard competitor you can have 3 of these for that price, all coming with their own clip which makes it a no brainer! the sound difference is pretty much negligable, not had any problems with any hum that i have read about in previous reviews either. I would buy these every time!

Great Mic!

Overall, I have given this mic 5 stars for numerous reasons.

Firstly, it surpasses most mic's I have used and price considered, it is considerably better.

The presentation of the mic is great coming in a leather/pleather carry case which is useful to transport around for gigs. It also comes with a stand so you can use it to mic up a snare drum or whatever application you need use it for.

I primarily bought this for basic You Tube videos and gigging. I've used it on two videos so far and it represents the tone in the room very well. I haven't had chance to compare this to a more expensive model (Like an E906). I hope to do this in the near future. Please check my You Tube channel to see (Damo636)

The build quality is flawless on the one I've received. I don't know if this would be the case for other ones as it's so cheap but I'm impressed.

For my needs, I would not purchase another mic. Price considered, this is FAR better than an SM57 for home recording/function band gigging.
