Stopped working after ~1 month of use

The device completely neutered the sound quality coming from my Axe Fx FM9. I bought this device so I could jam with some friends at bedroom sound levels in my apartment when we didnt have access to a studio setup and it just totally conked out after what can only be described as light/moderate use. It also had a tendency to send a loud buzzing noise through my headphones which at one point had me tearing them off to avoid hearing damage.

I tested and double tested everything in the audio chain and the only defect I could find was with this headphones amplifier.

I use this to watch films on the terrace in the summer days, and it does exactly what it should!

Headphone amplifier

I bought this headphone amplifier for live recording, the features on it are ok but the output is extremely weak.

Excellent product

Using a USB interface with one headphone socket meant it was awkward to work with other people in the room - this little box was just the thing we needed and everyone can set their own level

It's nice, not more than that

If one of the output channels volume is closed (while connected to a device), it still gets a very low but noticeable volume from the other outputs volume... (more so if their volume is about half & above)

I had it replaced and the 2 unit has the same issue.

Flimsy, broke on first use.

RCA inputs on back tore out when disconnecting cables from input on unit. This was the first (and last time) the cables were disconnected from the headphone amp. The unit itself sounds fine - no distortion, clean and loud, but construction is flimsy, and cheap price means there's no point in shipping it over for a return or replacement. You get what you pay for (which is very little anyways).

best bang for the buck

I'm using it in a home studio on my desktop for monitoring through different headphones.

The way it sounds is great and after taking a look inside to see how it's build, it is very well designed.

for pro's it just does what it needs to and is very sturdy.

The only negative I'd give it the lack of a on and of switch. But I just made an extension cable for the power supply with a switch built in, so it's not really a negative if you can work a soldering iron.

Cheap and good !

Really cheap and small, that can drive simultaneously four headphones at individual level. Not very much hum or any noise until the output pot. is not maxxed (actually carrefully to not overload the input) but this is a rule of thumb. Compared to Behringer HA400 this unit has a slighty more output. A very important thing is the otput impedance on each channel wich is only 10 Ohm, and thats mean you can use any type of headphones (16 Ohm to 64 Ohm or more) without sacrifice tonal response ( bass loosing or distortion).

Does the job well for the money

Well-built package, stable volume control, standard +12VDC power supply (500mA) with a pretty common coaxial (5.5mm OD, 2.1mm ID, 10mm depth, likely IEC 60130-10 Type A; 2.5mm ID seems to fit too) barrel connector, and although the sound isn't comparable with the best, it's not terrible either. With my 62 ohm AKG K-701 I still use only lower volume levels, so the saturation at high volume isn't concerning me too much, and the sound is clear enough (better than most PCs/laptops I tried).

Even after a year of use I wouldn't change much about it, for home use it's definitely worth the money! My only caveats are with the potentiometers:

- the handles could use some rougher edges, so your fingers can grip them easier

- the more you use them the smoother they become; it's a good idea to use all ports to wear the inside of the potentiometers equally

After a year of 3-4 times/week use, the play in them is minimal (sub-1mm) and when used across the range (I turn them down when unplugging) they still feel quite precise.

Tip: if you want to use the 6.3 mm jack input, make sure you have a stereo cable - most 6.3 mm cables on the market are mono only (for connecting guitars to their amplifiers), so you will only hear one channel.

Handy tool at a very decent price.

Using this to split a headphone line between a recording band, and for podcast presenters monitoring. Does exactly what it says on the tin. We haven't had issues with amp range or noise. Recommended for quick and dirty setups, or desktop podcast monitoring uses.
