Best price/performance ratio by far

For the price you won't get better monitors. Small enough to fit on any desk, fitted for small rooms with enough power to handle all the range (bass, middle, treble) you need.

I use it for (home) practising w. my bass (4 and 5 string) connected to Steinbergs UR 22MKII. Very satisifed!

Lot of hiss

I had 4 pairs of studio monitors before and the Tannoys Reveal 402 are the most noisy hiss sound. They have great sound in aspect of playing music, producing etc...but if you work near by them like 1 meter distance i would not recommend this product. Every single studio monitor has hiss sound but the Tannoys in my opinion, it's too much. I've tried in diferent plugs, cables, even only plugin with the power cable you already have the noise, i guess the culprit is the amp. I have to return them.Sorry

Too bassy and mids are too low

I wanted to use these as studio monitors or to listen to vinyl but they produce too strong bass and too low middle range. They are not well balanced. That's why I just use them as tv speakers now.

Small box, big sound

I was looking for a set of small front ported studio monitors for a while and after some reasearch settled on the Tannoy speakers. Tannoy have always tended to make very good studio monitors.

I have been using these in my office and studio for a while now and really like the sound of them. I find some speakers have a very bright sound and smaller drivers tend to lack depth. I find the Tannoys are farily neutral and flat (to my ears) and for a small cabinet have a good amount of low end.

Being 4inch cabs they do not take up a large amount of space which in smaller rooms is helpful.

I really like the protective done on the tweeter as it does protect it really well.

Great value and sound

I´ve had these for many years now and I think they sound great. They are small and have a clear sound to them. There are different options in terms of inputs but XLR is the way to go.

Very nice monitor for the price

I use them as a second monitor set up in my home studio (my main monitor is the KH120A) in order to double check my mixes on a more modest setup . I am very satisfied with the audio quality given the low price .Its clear with enough bass response and gives the impression of a more expensive monitor The construction quality is also excellent with a very nice design . If you are looking for a budget monitor then you should try these ones

Amazing for their size

Got those for almost 5 years now and got to admit my mixes sound much better in comparison to their big brothers. They are more balanced, they have very clear mids and because they are small they are ideal for a home studio setup. They are also quite loud. What is also very important is that I can mix for hours hours without them causing me any ear fatigue. Bear in mind that I mix some very heavy music like death metal with those. They are also a pleasure when listening to music.

Pros

The 3,5mm jack so that you can hook them up everywhere.

The balanced sound

Suitable for small rooms

Cons

For their price can’t find any really.

Incredible for the size and price

These monitors are surprisingly good for their size and price.

I use them for several purposes such as video editing on the go and casual music listening. The power and quality of the bass is uncommon on monitors of this size. The high range is in perfect accordance to the bigger brothers of this line (I also own the 802).

good monitor

I was ready to buy Yamaha monitors, but a sound engineer, a friend of mine, encouraged me to choose tannoy. At first, i felt sucker because they are pretty stiff, not so loud But! Whatever i mix with them is what i hear (at 70%) from any kind of speaker later. That is huge for me. I heard my mix from big speakers, with headphones, in the car ,from my laptops speakers, with small cheap speakers. Everytime the basic sound shape was there at scale. You can realy hear with them what you really mix. I gess bigger wofer (502, 802) will increase volume as well. For my 25 square meter studio 402 are just fine.

Excellent all round small monitor package.

I'm using the Tannoy 402 Reveal Monitors to connect directly to my 2015 MacBook Pro for Audio and all-round video editing and monitoring. The Reveal 402 has a four-inch bass/mid driver and a 0.75-inch tweeter, and the sense of stereo perspective is good, with a wide sweet spot. I use them in a small editing room, and this is where (IMO) they are best suited. In larger rooms or spaces they may struggle to make an impact.

I would have liked a little more volume from the speakers but given their size I think this is a fair trade-off. I use the TC Electronic level pilot to control the volume which I find works great with the speakers, as it is a physical volume dial it does introduce some interference when changing volume levels but I can live with this. Overall I am very happy with the investment. TH

Very good

I use them in a home studio and they are great for small spaces. It's not the perfect studio monitor but for the price you really can't expect (or find) any better. Clear sound, neutral, nice low for the size.

Simple speakers with great sound for home mixing. The only setback I find in them is that they tend to roll a bit too much on the mid-lows. Great value, still using them after years.

Excelent for the price

Very decent monitoring for a very decent price. I use it for home recording. It sounds very linear. No cons so far.

Great Quality for the price

I love these speakers for my basic sound editing at home. However they can be a little noisy in a very quiet room, so I do have to turn them off when they're not in use. (although that's also being a good human by not wasting power too!)

Great sound, potential for terrible noise

While the sound of the monitors is excellent, and build quality is great, the earlier models of the 402s are notorious for their buzzing, even with no input plugged in. Unfortunately, one of the two speakers I ordered were affected by this issue. It's not loud enough to be heard during louder sections in music, however as dynamics drop, or songs end, it's hard not to notice. Unfortunately, I will be forced to return mine.

They are very beautiful, but they sound bad. Missing high-mid and sound muffled. They have low-mid more than necessary. Combined with an equalizer - satisfactory.

I have three different pairs of Yamaha. Including HS10. They all sound better.

I do not recommend!
