Superb fun, excellent features

My first looper; this pedal is easy to operate with an excellent switch that is easy to step on with accurate timing. It also has some cool features to play with.

It's a superb practice tool which really highlights your flaws back to you so you can work on them; the half speed option, which drops your loop by an octave when slowing it down, is particularly good for highlighting mistakes or timing issues. (Half speed is also useful for creating a bassline type loop to play over, I guess!)

There's a surprising amount of ways to play with the sounds here too- for example you can put a recorded loop at half speed, record a second loop over it, then return to normal speed to get the effect of raising the second loop an octave above what you played.

The reverse effect can create some fun and atmospheric sounds. You can also use the half speed effect and the reverse loop effect together by switching the toggle.

The pedal saves whatever loops are active when you switch it off- which means you can even use it to record a riff for later if you're stuck.

You can also drop a .wav file onto the pedal from your computer to use as a loop, which is a nice feature. There are sample loops available online, but I've used this to practice over tunes from my music collection.

Easy to operate and Fun

As a looper the Ditto x2 is a dead simple product. Hit once to record, hit again to play, hit again to overdub, hit twice to stop. Press and hold to delete.

The 2 extra effects are also ear candy. Reverse and Half-Speed are assignable to the right switch and you can also use both at the same time by double tapping it.

The sound quality is top notch, no complaints whatsoever.

You can also import and export your recordings from and to your computer via the USB port.

The construction is rugged and overall the pedal is neither big nor small, just about the right size.

Super Looper

Best looper i've tried so far. Easy to use with the 2 foot switches.

Excellent stereo loop pedal

Used after other stereo effects including the Eventide H9, this is an excellent, high quality, looper. The extra size and footswitch reduces the amount of tap-dancing you need to do compared to the regular Ditto, and obviously if you're looping a stereo signal you need two channels in the loop pedal.

Unique

Always was a big fan of the DL4 for looping. The reverse and half speed are a big part not only of practice and jam, but also live performances. The X2 not only covers those functionalities, but also has and AMAZING quality, never heard in a looper pedal before. That, the smaller footprint, the volume knob going above unity makes this one one of the best loopers around.

The only "downside" is that one have to bend down to switch from "stop" to "reverse" and "1/2 speed". Would be perfect to have dedicated switches for that.

PS - The X4 is out now, but this little one is still the best around.

Excellent looper.

I use this looper both in my studio and during live shows, with a guitar or synth. I've never had any troubles with it, it's a very good product. The main reason I chose ditto x2 was the sound quality and built in effects (they're very simple but useful).

Pros:

Excellent sound quality.

Excellent build quality.

Ability to import / export a loop.

Reverse and half speed effect.

Stereo mode.

Cons:

No input / loop level meter (sometimes can be useful if you layer a lot).

Great easy-to-use looper pedal

The Ditto X2 is a great and easy to use looper pedal. Does what it should do. Hit button one, loop starts, hit again, loop stops and immediately starts playing. Second button, only available on the X2, comes in handy as a stop-button. On the one-button, cheaper Ditto looper, you have to hit the one button twice to stop the loop, which could be a little awkward. Don't know, could be just me as well. Anyway, I'm very happy with this two button thing. O yes: there's backwards looping and half and quarter speed looping possibilities as well, but I've only used that once. Guess my psychedelic space age period is yet to come.

pros: two buttons - on and off / good sound / ease of use / true bypass

cons: several fuzz and distortion pedals used used when playing over the loop, may disintegrate the original loop

Great toy for practice

Only found a use for this in the practice room, but it's certainly a useful tool for just that. Very easy to use straight away, though the effects are a little bit naff, so would probably go for the smaller one. Sounds good and easy to change volume of recorded material.

Ditto X2

Got this after seeing a guy use one in local open mic. The ease of use was the thing he kept going on about, play click start and click end, It takes a bit to get timing right but strum a few bars then press on and again off. Simple after a while. A click track or metronome makes it easier if you timing is off. Once used for short time its a breeze. Output is very good on bypass and the extra reverse play,1/2 speed function useful for nailing a lick. Computer download function for practice is also cool addition. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some loopers but thats also its strength as ease of use is main strength. Highly recommend this unit.

Very useful, and versatile pedal

I have been playing for over 25 years and had never considered a looper until I got the TC Flashback delay and had a go with the looper setting on that. After watching some of the TC vids on youtube for the Ditto x2 I couldn't wait to get hold of one! There are some cool features with this like the reverse function, and half speed etc which have inspired me to try all kinds of stuff. The fact that you can use the second footswitch to stop the loop with one tap is great, and far more natural than having to double tap when using it in a band situation

You can download loops via usb to the pedal to jam along with, which is a great practice tool.

Build quality is excellent..simple to use

Its got 5 mins of looping time, with endless overdubs!

I strongly suggest watching the youtube videos out there to really get an idea of what you can do with this, but straight out of the box it is very easy to set up and use..

Great looper

I was going to get the smaller version but then I decided for this one, as I needed the STOP button. If you use it as a sound effect pedal in a live band, you might find the extra effects useful, but if you plan on use on solo gigs, the STOP function might be the only one you use. The sound quality is just great, and it keeps your last loop in memory even when you unplug the power and without batteries. Very easy to use if you have owned similar pedals before as it's very intuitive. Simple design + great quality

Excellent looper!

The ditto x2 is one of the best loopers on the market. The dedicated stop switch is a big improvement on the original ditto and the additional reverse and half speed functions work brilliantly too. The only issue I had was that if you need to loop overdriven/distorted signals, a second amp would be advised to run in stereo, as the quality of the signal is affected with only one amp.

Simple and stereo

It's simple to use and it's stereo if you want it to be.

Cool looper!

The sound is really good, better than other loopers i tried, the digitalization doesn't make the instrument sound processed or less real. The only thing i miss is the posibility to quantize the rythmus once you have recorded your loop.

Ditto X2 = Twice The Fun

Already owned the little Ditto but had a need for dual inputs to let me run two signals so the Ditto X2 was the obvious choice. I have used quite a few makes of loopers over the past ten years, all with acoustic guitar and most of them coloured the sound to some degree or another but both Ditto loopers are very transparent with no perceivable loss of tone.

I missed the stop switch on the little Ditto so getting it back on the X2 was a real bonus. The reverse and half speed features are nice for noodling at home but the stop switch is almost essential for live use.

The two foot switches and one knob make it probably the easiest looper to use live.

I have no regrets buying this. 5 stars all round.

Simple and effective Looper

The TC Electronics Ditto x2 Looper is the big brother of the revolutionary TC Electronics Ditto Looper. The clear difference here is that they have added a second button to the format. The Looper has stereo/mono ins/outs and is powered by a standard 9 volt Boss style power supply. I use it with the T-Rex Chameleon without any issue.

The second button is what sold it for me. You have the choice of the second button being a dedicated stop/erase button or to use a couple of different effects (reverse and 1/2 time). I use it as a dedicated stop button. While the original is lovely, I find it easier to use a stop button.

The sound is 24 bit digital and is excellent. You are given a knob to control the level of the loop with straight up seeming like unity.

The one issue with the Ditto is that it is not great if you want to store loops and recall them in a live setting. While you can store loops, recalling is not simple. It is the perfect looper for someone like me that lays loops down live and then plays over them.

Highly recommended.
