the t.bone SSM 6 Reviews
Simple, works well
Not much to say. Does it job well, great value for money
hmmm, it's cheap, it works, but...
it works for large mics and does a decent job of shock/vbirations absorbing but again, rubber bands seem like they could snap easily. BUT for that price, just get another one. heck, get two!
:D
it's nothing spectacular and doesn't even need to be.
Best cheap shock mount
Compared to expensive ones, this is much better. Rode made far worse bult shock mount than t.bone. It doesnt feel plasticky or cheap. Only complaint is about 5/8" thread. I could use 3/8" addapter. Other than that is perfect.
Wouldn't recommend it.
The rubber bands which hold the mic snapped very easily during normal day to day use. As a result, I don't use this one anymore. I wouldn't recommend it, it didn't stand up to fairly light use.
Nice universal solution
Clip for Behringer C-3 has broken and this is cheap and reliable solution.
However, I wouldn't use it in overhead solution (with mic upside-down). I guess nothing would happened, but I wouldn't take any chances.
Great product at a great price
For the price, this is excellent.
So long as you aren't moving your mic around after you've set it up, this product is great. However, the rubber bands which do the job of holding the mic in place seem a tiny bit too flexible for my liking.
Having said that, for my purposes, I'm delighted with the product
Great for the price
This is a great basic shockmount for the price.
Provides good protection from handling noise and extraneous vibrations. I have used in a variety of interview situations, all indoors, mostly in office and home environments
I tend to use it on a desk for close-miked interviews
Good Shockmount
This is a good shockmount that gets the job done. However make sure you realise that it can only fit small mics like dynamics or small diaphragm condensers as I thought that it was bigger than it turned out to be.
Great holder
This is a well made and very cheap spider.
It fits my Samson C01u fine, the mic sits in it with about 1cm between the top of the spider and the bottom of the capsule screen on the mic, it holds it very tight and being rubber supports it doesn't scratch (although I wouldn't trust it holding the mic upside down!)
Just works.
This shock mount can be used with almoast any microphone. Out of the box I can put a pencil style mic, or, by removing the top 2 rubber bands, I can put a standard large diaphragm condenser mic.
It even comes with 2 spare rubber bands, which is great.
The screw does not tight very well.
Nice little universal Microphone cradle
Along with this cradle I ordered a T.Bone SC-300 which supposedly does not have a compatible microphone cradle. Well, I could use these two together quite nicely. It's a bit tricky, but it should work out quite nicely. The girth is just enough for that microphone.
I put these together because I am pretty much just starting out and getting to know the whole system of using a large diaphragm microphone for recording vocals. The cradle goes into a standard microphone stand so getting started with it should be a breeze. This thing seemed to come with some spare elastic bands, which is definitely a plus!
As one might expect, the product is very plasticky, even the straps are made out of plastic. However, this is a great product if you only need to keep up the microphone and do not care about that extra feeling of quality. I've used it for six months now and the microphone is still in place, the screws are stable and the plastic has not ruptured.
Useful tool
Useful tool for microphone recordings. Does a good job and shields microphone from unwanted vibration which would cause audible sound in your recordings. Well built as well and should fit most of your microphones!
Works well
I ordered 3 pieces - one for my home studio and 2 for my friend who is a professional sound engineer. He recommended this item to me, and it works very well.
Brilliantly made shock mount, no qualms.
This shockmount is great. Regarding the design and manufacturing I can highly recommend it, however it's a little loose for use with my Oktava MK12 when booming (but still very possible). That's not the mount's fault though! I'll certainly come back for another if I need a new mount.
Decent Quality Affordable SD Shockmount
Feels far more expensive than an ?8 shock-mount and does the job just as well as a mount ten times it's price.
Very useful for adding options to a home studio, especially when using two for drum overheads.
Nice & cheap mic holder - Be careful with the elastics
This is a nice mic holder, the elastic case is supposed to reduce the noise due to movements of the stand or mic compared to a clip, but I haven't really tested that.
I used it with a Rode NT3 and it fit well: the microphone is only held by the 2 elastic "meshes" so it can seem a bit risky to have the mic facing down, but I haven't had any issues so far.
Take care of the elastics though: I managed to cut an elastic of one of those meshes (while transporting it, it was definitely my fault). Despite that my NT3 is still held in place properly.
t.bone SSM 6 Highly Recommend this product
Great quality at an amazingly low price .It holds my Neumann KMS 105 perfectly and I have no fear of the mic dropping out of the bracket .Thank you
It does the job well
I've been using it for a while, and it has done the job very well. the elastics are holding well, and it seems to be a sturdy construction. I will buy more of these in the future for my other mics.
The sturdiest shock-mount at this price.
There are plenty of low cost, low quality shock-mounts on the market. This is not one of them.
The stand mount is sturdy. The tightening mechanism is conclusive and has a very firm feel.
The outer ring is made of alloy, not plastic and is very strong.
The lightweight plastic inner ring hosts a second set of bands, providing an even greater level of isolation.
A great product in terms of functionality, quality and price.
