Thomann Kazoo (Metal) Reviews
Nice!
It works perfectly, and the sound is really good. I love it!
A cheap kazoo
First of all, I'm a complete beginner at playing the Kazoo. I was even close to removing the plastic film in the hole, thinking it was obstructing the sound when I first didn't get any sound out of it. Luckily I didn't, since the plastic wrap is necessary to get the Kazoo sound. Therefore I might not be the best person to evaluate the value of this Kazoo, especially since I have not tried any others.
I had the impression that a kazoo was a lot easier to play than it is. I thought all you had to do was blow into it and adjust the pitch with your mouth/tounge/air pressure as if you are whistling. It will take some practice to make it sound good.
I found that it is easier to make it sound kazoo-ey if you blow air into (or speak, or sing) in falsetto. Just blowing into it like normal may not produce any sound at all.
If you want to find out what it's like to play the Kazoo, I don't think it's any great loss to buy this one or another as they only cost a few euros. Look at the different reviews and try to see which one seems to be the best one for your purposes. One advantage with this one is that it's made in metal, meaning that it feels sturdy.
not always working
i bought 2 and gave one to a friend of mine.
His one works fine, typical kazoo sound, but mine just don't want to sound well.
So might be not always a good quality, but not too expensive to have a try
Does the job
Don't know much about Kazoos, but does the job for someone just fiddling around with it for fun. If that's what you intend to do with it, it's a decent product.
NIce
Hallo at all,
It is a funny little instrument and it is very easy to play. The sound is 100% Kazoo, and the price is low considering the build- and sound quality of this product.Solid metal body and a screwable opening for this swinging piece of paper. This feature make it possible to personalize the sound and try out what kind of material sounds best. They're responsive and have a really nice and dirty sound.
It doesn't break and the sound is still awesome. I would buy it again. In my opinion you can´t go wrong with these strings, I like them very much and will order them again .
Best gimmick for guitars, piano, percussion, anything!
I play the guitar mostly for myself and some friends. Since I'm a bad singer the kazoo enriches my music extremely. No need to learn playing, no need to be good at it, it just works. Also a great laugh, especially when it takes people minutes to figuere out how to use it (trying to get tunes out of it by just blowing air into them).
I have a wooden and platic ones, but prefere the metal version of it. The plastic one look cheap, the wooden feeld bad in the mouth, this one work best for me.
I've been giving this kazoo away as all kinds of presents all the time, since anybody can get some decent tunes out of it, no talent for music instruments required. Great present!
Funny
It is a funny little instrument and it is very easy to play. If you play Base or Guitar you can easily play the kazoo at the same time. Quality and sound is good.
Fun for a little while
Kazoos are weird little instruments that have a thin and slightly annoying sound that is almost impossible to take seriously. If you're asking yourself how it sounds, you might want to check out "Corporal Clegg" by Pink Floyd, where a kazoo is used to accompany the zany lyrics during the outro. After hearing it, I wanted to try it out myself, so I've ordered one together with some other things.
It's pretty easy to play, you just have to put the thicker end between your lips and hum the notes. It doesn't take more than a few minutes until you've figured out how to play some melodies. This simplicity makes the kazoo a nice little present for everyone who is even slightly interested in making music.
However, the Gewa Kazoo's quality is pretty low. After about two weeks of occassionally playing it, the membrane broke and it was impossible to play it any more. But considering the low price, I've had a lot of fun with it.
Long-lasting Fun
I ordered the Gewa Kazoo some years ago and played several times (Gigs and at home) with it.
The plastic sheet inside is still working fine and sounds unvaried.
I can absolutely recommend it.
crazy little thing
You have to get used to how it works but then it works just fine and is a nice little sound extra. Because it is made of metal you have to be careful with your teeth but I think it's a bit more hygenic than a plastic one 'cause these would get scratches sooner which is a contact point for germs and stuff.
Awesome possibilities!
Learning an instrument takes years of practice. Do not laugh - as I violinist I know what I'm talking.
Having that in mind, a kazoo can´t be an instrument - but it is!
And this one especially is a good one. Solid metal body and a screwable opening for this swinging piece of paper. This feature make it possible to personalize the sound and try out what kind of material sounds best.
Warning - don't buy this as a give away for birthday parties.
Nice little stage toy
The kazoo works fine. I use it regularly on stage. Even after a year this thing works still fine. It doesn't break and the sound is still awesome. I would buy it again.
Good value and good fun.
This is the fourth Gewa Kazoo I've bought. They're responsive and have a really nice and dirty sound. I use them in one-man-band bluegrass and blues. These sound a lot better than any kazoo I've tried before and I think it's because it's made of metal. The quality isn't great though, but they're cheap so it's not a big deal. They're easy to repair as well, a few times at least.
Just perfect!
The sound is 100% Kazoo, and the price is low considering the build- and sound quality of this product.
Good robust sound
A much better sound than a cheap plastic kazoo. It's sturdy construction means that I can grip it between my teeth while playing the piano at the same time.
not bad
it's little, solid, cheap and sounds good.
