Thomann CTG-10 Clip Tuner Reviews
Fine for the price, not without issues.
Bought this mainly for home use, as I have a pedal tuner for other purposes.
Although it's very light, it does feel nice in the hand - the finish of the plastic is not glossy, rather satin like, almost rubbery, which definitely feels better than just cheapo plastic.
Operation is very straight forward - You hold the button for a second or so for it to turn on, and voila. It is chromatic, and it's both for guitar and for bass. Also, a very nice touch is the fact that there is a backlight , it's blue when You're out of tune, then the entire screen lights up green when You hit the pitch, so it's well suited for low light situations. So, thus far, all good.
The cons that I've stumbled upon are such - on guitars, that aren't exceptionally resonant, it doesn't really pick up the thinner strings all that well - it definitely works, and is usable, but it's not fast as sometimes it won't pick up the vibrations. I've tried it on strats, teles, les pauls, a couple of basses and a classical guitar, and it seems to jump around a fair bit on the strat, less so on the tele and LP, BUT seems to work outstandingly well with basses.
So, if You're buying this for home use, of maybe studio, it is fine - does it's job, sometimes hunts around. All of this is absolutely acceptable, especially considering the price point.
But if You're looking for something fast and responsive for, let's say, live situations, I'd opt for something that's faster/more accurate.
Great little tuner
This tuner does the job, and does it well, I was impressed at how small it actually was. Tuning my new bass was a breeze using the "bass" setting. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a cheap and small tuner that can go anywhere with them.
Not very accurate
Good value for the price, but I ended up buying a better more expensive one after some time. This one is just not very accurate
OK in that price range
Cheap and good item. Somtimes slow reaction, but.... its ok
Cheap tuner
Varies from the tuner on my amplifier. Can't be certain which is incorrect but the amp was rather more expensive!
Budget tuner, working well
It works perfect for the price. Even in a noisy pub I had no problems tuning my guitar. Response is little slower, but again fair for the price.
Does exactly what it needs to do!
I use this product for my ukulele and acoustic guitar. It clips on easily.
The battery lasts long.
I've compared the tuner to other tuners, pedals and ones inside a DAW and found it to be very accurate.
Flakey device and inaccurate
Tried a few different things to get better results with this tuner at the end of my HB guitar but it still exhibits the following problems:
1. On "Guitar" mode, it struggles to find the right string to tune against, regularly bouncing around between notes and only rarely settling on the right note to measure against.
2. Sometimes the tuner fails to respond to any note and then becomes erratic.
3. Even when it finds the right note, the tuner struggles to hear the pitch being played, even in dead silent rooms. This leads to inaccurate readings, wildly erratic readings or no readings at all.
4. For example, starting with the bottom E string, the tuner sometimes thinks I'm playing A, D or even G strings!!
I've taken the (brand new) battery out and replaced it, cleaned the battery contacts and restarted the tuner multiple times but it makes no difference.
This tuner is a bit of a dud, I'm afraid.
It's good!
What more to say... the guitar tuner works fine! Would recommend! :)
Okay tuner
I feel like this tuner can be slightly temperamental sometimes with picking up sounds and then determining which note it is. On a few occasions I’ve had to strum my e string more than a few times to get it to actually recognize the e string and this could be when it’s only slightly out of tune. I understand that the job of the this tuner is not easy picking up frequencies but I feel like it could be more accurate
Easy and simple to use.
Got this tuner for my 9 year old daughter and her 1st guitar. Really straight forward and easy to use.
Great tuner!
Easy to use, inexpensive pratical tuner. Easy to hide behind the headstock so it's not visible from the point of view of the audience.
Amazing tuner for the price.
You'll never find a better tuner for this price. Just buy it!
it works. fits in pocket and easy to use
It works. Easy for use for a beginner. It shows green color when the string is tuned. The H string is also called a B-string (notice there are 2 names for that string).
It is the best price/value guitar tuner.
However it was out from the packaging when I received, but it works.
Maybe mine was faulty
I just added this as it gave me free delivery on purchase of H.B. fretless bass ( superb see my review ). I have a Korg tuner that I usually use, and this just didn't agree with the Korg, that I know is correct. Its also not very sensitive to the low e string of the bass. I may have a lemon, check out other reviews.
great little tuner
great little tuner for a guitar. does exactly what it needs to do and accurate as well.
Must have on any guitar!
Simple use. Quite accurate compared with line tuners. Rubber like material feels good. Nice feature is the backlit color change when you are in tune! Absolute vfm!
Cheap
It's cheap, it feels cheap. It does the job, just handle carefully, feels very fragile and cheap, like it will break if it falls from your headstock.
Definitely not the best, but hey it's a tuner, and it tunes.
Great product.
Simple, useful and great price for that quality.I've used it for one year and it hasn't let me down yet.
Cheap but not chearful
If it worked it would be great, but there is a problem with the battery contact. Unfortunately doesn’t work most of the time. Instead I am back using my mobile app to tune my guitar and bass which is free and this tuner is in a draw somewhere... waste of money...
