Thomann Melodica Reviews
This melodica is fine and it's fairly priced. However, when comparing it with other melodica I used to have, this one is bigger, not as easy to handle, not as pleasant to the touch. So it does what it is supposed to, but I have seen better.
Very nice all around.
I thought owning a melodica would be fun and it sure is.
It comes with all you need from a melodica and with a nice case, only complaint I have is that the extension tube is not the same as shown in the pictures.
It's a really good product anyways, I'm enjoying playing and learning this instrument.
Great tone!
Body of the melodica does feel a little bit fragile, wouldn't recommend dropping it. You get a case, two mouthpieces and a cleaning cloth! Sounds great and though I'm not a connoisseur of melodica tone I would encourage you to get this one. Used it for a wedding band in a couple of celtic tunes and it went down a treat. Go on ye will.
not the greatest, not the worst either
if you're looking for an entry level melodica, you can just go for this one.
I have one and, even though the sound is not the greatest, it's not the worst either, it gets the job done and for studying on the go its awesome!
Construction wise, it feels cheep, but then again, you're paying for a budget melodica, and for this price, you won't get any better!
Great Melodica for the price!
This melodica is everything you could ever want out of such a cheap instrument. All the notes are responsive and in tune. The Melodica comes with a nice case and cleaning cloth. It's easy to empty out the condensation from inside the instrument by pressing a button and blowing through it. The range is a full 3 octaves which is great and allows for 2-handed playing. The only issue I have is that I would have preferred a black model.
Nice!
I got this for a bit of fun and for sampling. The build quality is great and it sounds really nice. I wouldn't spend mad money on something like this. I just wanted something to get that organy sound. Chords sound really nice on it and make for great samples when pitched down. Overall very happy with this and have actually used it on a lot of tracks.
Looks ok
Sounds more like an accordion, but it?s not bad. Main reason for purchase is decorating my studio with as many instruments as possible, so I?m not really gonna use it.
Good
It's good and cheap. If you're buying this, just for fun, to jam and stuff, then it's perfect and it comes with a nice case.
Fun instrument!
I was really surprised with this instrument. it sounds good and plays well, and it comes with a hard case! you can't beat it for this price tag! not to mention it's so much fun playing it.
Value for money
Good for beginners, fun for all!
Kids loved it!
Kids love playing melodica. It can be played with two different ways which makes it easier for kids who are not able to hold it. Really good sound for its price!
Very reliable melodica, the sound is almost flawless and the keys are really well crafted, so they are both sensitive enough but also resistant.
Not sure what else you need?
Bought this after seeing some amazing playing on YouTube, having always wanted to learn harmonica but never having the patience so "keyboard version" it was. Love it and not sure how the more expensive models would be justified!
Fun instrument
Most people seem to associate the Melodica with pre-school.
When my Melodica arrived, my family were laughing about it, saying that it was a toy and asking why I bought it at all.
But after a few minutes, everyone wanted to try it!
It's actually good fun to play and pretty easy.
All you need to do is blow into the air pipe and play some keys.
No doubt there are better quality Melodica's available if you want to spend more money, but this product is good value for what you pay.
It's not a 'serious' instrument, but you can make music with it, and it's fun.
Great for parties, relaxing, acoustic jams
This is an entry level instrument, and while I would not bother to incorporate it into serious concerts, I have jammed with this in parties, played along songs, and performed on the streets with it (with acoustic guitar as rhythm section).
Pros: the price meets and exceeds the function. It comes with both the short mouthpiece and the extended pipe. There was a handy semi-hard case as well, never used anything else. The sound is a bit harsh (harder than accordion), but is tuned quite well and has stayed in tune.
Cons: cleaning after intense usage is hard. Even with the vent button, I've had to undo the screws to clean it completely. Build quality is basic, which is what you would expect for this price.
Very nice for having fun and play with you friends.
Best for this price
I use it for home recording and acoustic gigs.
It has nice sound and dinamic - from piano to forte, its loud enough ( not like a Marshall amp,but for a wind instrument).
You can play solos and chords easily with its pipe (comes with long tube too).
The tuning is not perfect - i have already found a video on youtube how to tune it, so you can fix it at home, but it doesn't bother me that much, so i left it that way.
Well made product, comes with a nice gigbag.
Overall, I love it, this is a realy cool instrument for this price.
Great Melodica
I am using this melodica for home recording and musical ideas.
It is also a great way to introduce music to the kids (we bring it with us while we travel).
This is a very well made product with preforms beatifully and has a great tone
pros:
Cost is very reasonable
sound and play-ability are fantastic
Includes a case.
Cons:
At this price range there are no cons with this unit.
Would buy again.
Cheap as Chips!
I bought this when my band were playing an 'Unplugged' gig but needed a keyboard to beef up the sound.
It's not the loudest instrument in the world, but I suppose it depends on how hard you blow! Comes with two mouthpieces - one is longer than the other for use when you are playing the Melodica in front of you, as opposed to 'clarinet style'. The case is really handy as well.
Great value for money.
Great Melodica for a great price!
This instrument works great for a longtime now, even the box is still in great look. Personally i used this Melodica to make my own Kontakt sampled instrument, works as desired!
