Great bang for its buck

For this amont of money it's an excelently built instrument. Mine needed a decent amount of basic set-up (sanding down bridge, adjusting the truss rod, nothing special), but that's standard with instruments in the lowest price range.

Sounds really good for an entry level instrument, its sound is bright and more irish bouzouki like, unlike some octave mandolins which have a darker, more mandocello like sound. Still has a decent low and sustains well.

Very happy with this Octave mandolin

Action is good. Playability is good. Sound is good. All in great buy and excellent value. Would recommend. Delivery was a bit slow but well worth the wait.

Good first octave mandolin!

I have been playing mandolin for a couple of years now and I wanted to have a go at a larger instrument in the same family. As this was the cheapest new octave mandolin I decided to go for this one, and it did not disappoint. For it's price it has a great sound, especially if you replace the strings with better quality ones. All I would say is that the tuners are a bit stiff, so fine tuning can sometimes be a slight annoyance, and the bridge feels a bit flimsy, particularly when re-stringing it. All in all though, it is a great first experience with the instrument and I would definitely recommend for beginners or if it is all you can afford!
