They're something special

Really exceptional quality and attention to detail, nice feel, nice vintage tone, expecially cranked on a tube amp with all the tones set low. Also, surprisingly versatile. You wouldn't imagine flatwounds on a semi-hollow to put out great funk tones, but do they ever. It's a fun investment to make if you're thinking of trying. Bends are pretty easy imo, though the actual note on the wound strings tends to climb slower. And they do tend to slip and roll, but if you really want to bend a wound G, you can get used to it.

My new favourite strings

For years I’ve played only flatwounds that I loved everything about but the extra string tension and the price. These solve both those issues so I am a happy bunny.

Smooth as a baby's bum

I find very smooth but a bit expensive

Great long lasting strings

I must admit I did not have so much experience with flatwound strings before these, but they are really nice, soft and bendable strings. I use them primarily to play jazz fusion, but they sound great on blues too, they add that ''fat'' bluesy sound. If you like Fender twang sound, this is certainly not choice for you, but in my case, it works for metal great too.

Nice and warm tone

These strings provide a very warm but defined tone in my semi hollow Fender Starcaster electric guitar. I absolute the tone of it, not muddy, sweet top end. Highly recommended!

Excellent set of flat wound strings

I use this on a Gibson ES-335 mainly to avoid string movements while recording. I use clean tones most of the time.

I will order this set again.

Perfect Jazz strings

Use:

I mounted these on my Fender Tele 72 Deluxe

I love the lush sound of these strings. The volume from one string to the next is perfectly balanced -at least on my guitar. It is just exactly what I was looking for.

Pro:

Great sound at a good price.

Cons:

Not available in my local shop :-)

Hamer Monaco

Hooked on flatwounds after trying these. Moved from a jazz archtop to my Indonesian Hamer XT (10s) and perform great. The extra tension enables low action with no fret buzz. Mellow sound acoustically. So smooth to the touch, so easy to play.

Edit: 070220 These strings do not go out of tune and last forever!

Excellent strings

I'd never used flatwounds before. Importantly at this guage you can still bend. Great quality, and after months of use the first set is still going strong. They are on an Ibanez artcore. It gets a good bit of use. Great tone. Will stick with these on that guitar.

Absolutely yes!

I use these strings on my beloved Epiphone Casino inspired by Lennon. And I've got to say they're what I was looking for. Before I mounted them I thought I would leave the G string out of the story, mounting a plain G string from another set. But then, when I saw the other strings, I just thought "I'll give it a try". So I got all the set mounted. The first thing I did was playing some old beatles song. Casino + Flatwounds is the right way. For sure, I have to say that TIs are always fantastic strings to play. I use TIs on bass and acoustic guitar too, and I've never been disappointed. I can't stop playing, it's really hard to get tired of that sound. The only negative aspect is the fact I can't bend the G string anymore. Well, I can, but matter of fact is kind of hard to reach more than a semitone. I often thought "I can't go on without bending" but THAT sound really too good. The other strings sound great as well. The B string feels quite nice even if it's a 014. A, E and D strings are quite thin, and this makes the set sound more balanced. Perfect for jazzy things, but they're good for classic 60s rock too. The only thing you would change is the G string, but I suggest to give it a try just to taste that sound. I've never tried Pyramid Gold flats, which seem really good too especially for 60s rock. But, as far as I can see, TIs JS are the perfect choice for my Epiphone Casino. Totally worth the price.

Nice on my Gretsch

I use these on my Gretsch 6120 Setzer Hot rod, and the next size up on my Duo Jet. The sound is fat and crystal clear. Worth changing them from time to time as the sound does degrade as any string does, when a new set goes on you remember why you have them. Awesome strings.

Good flats

Not much more need to be said about these strings; they are highly regarded good quality flatwounds.

One thing I have not noticed before is that the two highest strings (e, b) are gold in appearance. The other four strings (g, d, a, e) have red coloured cloth at both ends. Not sure why this is the case. So if you prefer flatwounds that are entirely silver looking perhaps look to D'Addario Chromes.

Smooth as silk :)

Replaced the strings on my Epiphone Swingster and it went from good to better in few minutes. The JS110 strings feels smooth and easy to play. I instantly got the jazz-feeling I was looking for. The strings stays in tune for days, and seems to last much longer then my previous strings. The price are a bit higher then other brands, but I think they are worth it! Two thumbs up :)
