Good and flexible practice mute

Having used this mute for a while now, it has opened up a lot of opportunities for me to practice. The mute does its job well, the sound becomes very soft, there's a little bushing inside that constrains the sound even more, you can remove it and it will give you a little more airflow and a little more volume. Which is a neat feature. With the bushing inside, the airflow is noticeably affected, the resistance is fair for a practice mute, I struggle a bit in the higher octaves with this mute but overall I am happy with it. Though the rubber band is starting to dry out already and showing cracks, which is a little unfortunate but it still functions well after 2 years. All in all satisfactory.

Keeping quiet about this

I bought this mute to lower the noise and keep my neighbours happy. The mute itself is a beautiful object, the materials, finishing and quality are fantastic. The sound is good - and probably down to my own proficiency that I don't sound like Miles Davis. Are my neighbours happy? Well, so far I have not heard any broomsticks hitting the ceiling below me. I will take that as a positive and say that the mute is doing its job correctly.

Wallace practice mute - nice product

Resistance is good & mute isn’t too heavy.

There is also a resister which alters the sound and can be removed. Tuning is good in all registers and I found slotting to be fair too.

Incredible noise reduction

Noise reduction is really good and it's indeed possible to play without the neighbours to hear you (vocal conversation noise intensity I would say).

Really good mute to practice alone but the pitch correction (a quarter of a whole step) is hard to make on the whole range. So it's hardly possible to play with other musician due to this pitch drift.

Also it's not easy to blow and it's less responsive. Which improve endurance and make it a relieve to play without the mute afterwards.

I would definitively buy it again as it allows me to practice everyday, everywhere.

Just note the existence of the TWC-M22C compact that can fit in the bell which is more convenient for transport.

Perfect for quiet practice

The tone is very nice, nice enough to record. The volume reduction is fantastic. The quality and craftsmanship is super. Highly recommended for quiet practice. May change the tuning by a 1/4 of a semitone, so you may have to retune after putting it on.

Excellent

I was surprised by how quiet this mute is. It adds a bit of resistance like any mute but makes it possible to practice in an apartment at any time of the day or night.

You can remove the metal insert to reduce resistance a bit and it's still very quiet.

Intonation feels manageable.

It weighs nothing yet feels robust and is easy to install and remove.

Wonderful mute.. nice soft sound and very much in tune

It might have a touch more resistance than the shhh mute I have, but the sound is nicer and more accurate in all registers.

A really great mute

I have to say I'm a beginner with the cornet, so take what I say with a grain of salt. This mute is frankly amazing in reducing the sound! I live in a little open space with my girlfriend and she says that she can hardly hear the sound and if she has headphones on her ears, she doesn't hear a thing. It's very practical and lightweight, you can also reduce or increase the dampening with the little sliding tube inside the mute. I can't say if it changes the pitch a lot, since I'm a beginner, but there are reviews on the internet for that. To be honest, it's crazy good for this price

Perfect!

The most important think when I am using a practice mute is the intonation...well, Wallace TWC-M17 has the best response on that!!!

Highly recommended!

Mute with sharper sound

Good workmanship, with sharper, metal sound (?) - in comparison with Silent mute pssst.. presently exchange, but play more on Pssst..

Great mute

This is a great practice mute, I've been using it for a few months now and I'm really impressed. It dampens the sound really well, it feels very solid and the tuning while the mute is in is very good.

Absolutely pick this up especially if its on sale.

No more complaining neighbors

Need to practice but you have neighbors? problem solved. It does exactly what it says it does.

Excellent mute

A recommendation on YouTube that does not disappoint in reality. Used every morning, it is very quiet and allows control of resistance with the removable front plug that is also adjustable. Fits snug and well with rubber foam instead of cork fitting. The bright metallic blue colour took some getting used to but it compliments the silver plate of the trumpet so now aesthetically pleasing. Intonation is consistent and a joy to play, of the many mutes available the purchase of this is not regretted, excellent purchase. Recommended.

After trying several practice mutes, this was finally the one which worked as I expected. With some adjustment of the insert, it can also be used as a standard mute. Great appearance, compact size, pleasant feeling. Very satisfied with it.

Amazing!

It really does what everybody says around in reviews and videos, I can actually practice at midnight without disturbing anyone. Just like TV volume.

A simple example I can give, I have a MacBook Pro, I can play a song on iTunes at a volume level, let's say "6 clicks of volume" Well more less that is how loud a trumpet would sound with the Wallace damper. I definitely advise it!

Thanks to its foam ring it attaches nicely and firmly inside the trumpet bell.

And it is actually adjustable, it has a removable part which allows you to control how high or low volume you want, 3 levels.

Im not an expert, but they say it affects the tone for about half a note... It is also a bit harder to blow the trumpet when using the mute, but just a tiny little bit.

Yeah, could be, I think so, but again, it is priceless that you have the option to practice at home without disturbing neither the next room neither the next flat.

Great for home practicing

If you need to practice on trumpet home and you can afford for this price, you won't be regret. I am absolutely satisfied by really great damping. Wallace also keeps tuning as well, which is very important. Using Wallace I feel absolutely comfortable, that I don' disturb my neighbours and I don't ruin my tonation.

I recommend strongly!!!

Wonderful practice mute!

I was worried it might affect the intonation of my instrument despite having heard pro players like Adam Rapa give this mute very high praise, but after having gotten it in the mail and played with it for a while now I can say that Adam Rapa was not exaggerating. This truly is a wonderful practice mute! The sound is lowered enough that I can practice all night without disturbing the neighbours if I wanted to despite living in an apartment. If you are curious and want to see and hear it in action, you can look for "Wallace Mute Adam Rapa" on youtube and you should find his video reviews of Wallace mutes, and this practice mute among them. 10/10, would recommend without hesitation!

Very very good one.

It is a must especially if you are living in an apartment and like to blow at night.

No intonation problem I faced. Response is also excellent.

I advice TWC-M17 for every trumpet player

One of my best shopping I did.

Free blowing mute

This mute is really free-blowing. Before that one I had different brand and it was really hard to achieve a good sound cause of resistance. That one is also quiet. Moreover you can adjust resistor to get different sound.

Very quiet trumpet mute

You can make the sound very quiet with this mute. The blow back pressure is immense, the sound ( off course ) not what it should be, and the adjustable tip in the middel doest do much aboud it. Bud still if you planning on keeping your neighbours and companions at your side, you cant do much wrong. The only minor issue is the enormous blow back, bud then off course you get a more quiet mute in return so still happy :)
