Best Bargain

Before buying this item I checked a many reviews which were very positive. I could not believe the build quality and the sound quality of these headphones. Extremely comfortable to wear over a long period of time as I do a lot of recording. I highly recommend these headphones and the price is unbeatable for value and quality.

As always with AKG, an excelent product.

The sound quality that these studio earphones provides is next to none. They are well built and comfortable to wear for prolonged periods, whether it be in studio/recording setting or just used for music listening. The adjustability of the overhead band is ideal for comfortable wearing. The mini XLR jack that allows you to detatch the cable is very useful for storage. The bass range is solid and the highs are clear. The dynamic range of these earphones is more evident when used as studio monitoring. Strongly recommended to anyone who appreciates quality but doesn't want to break the bank.

Nice for bass players

I looked around and settled on these. Couldn't be happier. I use these to play along with MP3's and my bass while practicing, I was using in ear monitors at home, but these sound 100x better. Comfortable, except in 30+ degrees, but still OK. Can't hear much outside noise (wife!) while practicing another bonus.

Good bulid quality but don't expect to use them for hours on end since they tend to squeeze ones ears a little tight.

They do however sound great.

AKG K-240 Circumnaural Cans

I bought these knowing they would be half decent and wasn't disappointed. These over ear headphones are so comfortable you forget you are wearing them and suffer very little ear fatigue which is pretty useful if your recording /mixing all day.

Sonically they are suitably flat for a pair of v.good studio headphones but the frequency response delves deep enough to pick up the subs my near field monitors can't reach..yeah am very happy with their clarity and range. I have had some very nice headphones over the years such as Grado's and AT's and for the money these come recommended. My only niggle if I had to find One would be that no bag or spare leads are provided (as the lead provided is quite long) but I believe this has been addressed in the newer model of the K-240's. Of course this "'improvement " comes at a cost! What the heck don't hesitate either way.

good, transparent sound

good, transparent sound, nice stereo image, comfortable to wear, light weight, good frequency balance, no harsh highs, only downside for me is lack of bass (little bit). Really good value for money.

7 years with them! Very nice sound, and superb head fitting. You can wear them all day without any problems. Also, very well constructed.

Fully recommended as all around headset.

Fantastic headphones!

Using these for monitoring in the and I can say they are exactly what I needed. The flattest frequency response I have heard in a pair of headphones and at this price they really are a bargain.

I bought these having read a sound on sound article that said they were ideal for monitoring and can compete with 'higher grade' headphones. They definitely weren't lying.

Very impressed. Would highly recommend for any purpose where sound quality is a must.

Perfect set of monitoring headphones

There is a reason why these are one of the studio standards in open back designed monitoring headphones.

They are very transparent in the design and really makes is feel like the sound is in the room.

Light and comfortably designed makes them no hassle to wear for hours on end.

Would have like to get a coily cable as well as velour earpads with the set, but not surpricing that they aren't included since the low price of the headphones.

Generally very little colouring of the sound from the headphones and no or extremly little background noise.

The do ofcourse sound better with a good headphone amp but the low ohmage makes them no issue to use with laptop or mobile devices.

I will certainly be getting a closed back designed simili as well but love the sound and openesss in these.

Great Headphones

After researching about the best options on Studio Headphones the K-240 are the best option, though AKG have a cheaper model, the 240 are the best value vs price, specially because of the frequency range.

Great tool!

great studio headphones!

I am pleased to report usage of AKG K-240 headphones. All what is important in the studio work for those headphones is fulfilled perfectly. Those give great sound reproduction for acoustic instruments and for playback.

I gave 4 out of 5 stars only because headphone cup is open and can interfere with the microphone when close, so for very quiet, subtle, recording situation the best is to adjust the recording setup.

This is the only con. K-240 reproduces very well mid range and bass and well high registry, so it's useful for mixing purposes. It has gold plugs, three meter durable cable. My ears sweat after a few hours of use in hot studio environment. Velour pad replacement is strongly recommended.

Great headphones

I mainly use these for mixing, but I actually think that they are better for listening to music. They sound great, but they also add bass and compress the sound. Once you're used to the way the color the sound, it isn't a problem.

Just buy these!

I had Sony V700 besides I had these. Sold those because they were a little bit uncomfortable for people like me, people that use glasses. They tend to clamp your head. Buying new headphones I was trying to decide on these or other more expensive ones. The aim was "studio usage" and "home practicing".

Let me say, they still amaze me. An amazing sound! The fact that they're semi-open helps a lot on the natural sound it gives. They're very comfortable and light! When I say light... the day they arrived I picked the box and thought that they weren't inside. Once again, amazing sound!

Problems? Just two: I fear that the plastics won't be that durable and the bigger issue is definitely the heat. They tend to heat a lot! Someone told me that I could try other pads and with that I could have a solution for the heating problem. Maybe I'll try that.

To me the AKG 240 Studio headphones are THE reference, very clear sounding, you can hear lots of details in the music you wont hear with other headphones or speakers, and still they do have a great bass response, but withouth sounding muddy.

After a short period of time you get used to that detailed sound and listening to music or working on your mixes to a new level.

Or just playing your favourite electir guitar trough an kemper profiler or fractal audio axe fx II makes those headphones very versatile.

The Original Headphones, Made in Austria, have a great build quality and even after many years of daily usage they work flawlesslessly and sound great as on day one, i have bought 3 different pairs in the last decade and none of them let me down once

i will recommend them to anyone who looks out for new headphones with a great reliability and very good and clean sound

My reference for years, a top buy!

Have been using these for years and they have become my absolute reference in the studio. So much I bought another pair in case they stop making them. Not that my first pair shows any sign of weakness... after 10 years!
