Kinda alright

Got them to play guitar as a beginner to not annoy my parents, the sound in them is different from the amp. They can't handle lots of bass, so playing metal is overwhelmingly muddy. Should have put the money for a better amp.

Excellent for mixing.

I've had these Mk IIs and a pair of K240S for many, many years. I've mixed and mastered all of my commercial work on them and never had any rejections or complaints from producers or directors. They may not be the most tasty for listening to music (although I really love their character), especially modern bass heavy music, but they are very flat and detailed, making them perfect in the studio. Some components have broken down over time such as the ear pads and foam, the cable coating has peeled and the AKG logos have fallen off. But even so, they remain wrapped around my head daily and haven't let me down yet. I'd recommend them for general mixing over the more expensive AKG models as those tend to have more of a hyped frequency response.

Great headphones!

Sound great and are pretty well built, also they are very lightweight. I would take 1 point for comfort cause it's not perfect, but for the price it's awesome.

Not terrible but not great either

The sound is decent enough but the design is uncomfortable. The earcups don’t fit right and my hair keeps getting caught in them when I take them off which is painful and annoying. If you’re on a tight budget these will probably do you well but if you’ve got some extra cash I’d probably recommend getting something else.

Excellent value for money

These are very comfortable, lightweight, and sound very good. Of course, they could sound better but in this price range they are the best I've tried. Very happy with the purchase.

A classic

Using it mainly for guitar recording through vst and plugins. Quite good and dont have too much to complain. Happy with my purchasing and can recommend for home studios in budget.

Headphone power?

Purchased 2 of them. Sound is ok but the DB level is less than cheaper models compared to older and cheaper AKG brand.....I" ll keep them but

Good For Guitar Playing

I bought these as an upgrade from gaming headphones. I mainly use them for playing guitar through my computer and they sound really good for that. They don't sound muddy and they don't really overemphasize any frequencies, so I would say they have a flat eq. The only slight downside is that they could be a bit tighter around the head, but that might just be a me problem.

The material feels cheap, but the sound is really good for the price

Good for studio

Not the best isolation for recording with click-track. Definitely more comfortable than HD600. Overall very pleasant feel.

Excellent on a budget

Good open back headphones. I used them for a while on rehearsals, had no issue with them. Comfortable on the head, easy on the ears, everything sounds clean and precise.

Worth companion for a home studio

Bought it for using at home when playing guitar with DAW softwares. I wanted something with a long enough cable and open back design.

This headphone has two cables, which can be used for different occasions. The sound quality, to my usage, which is quite basic, is good enough. I wouldn't expect better at this price and I believe this is worth the money.

In short, it does the job. It is comfortable to wear and sounds good. My only complaint, which I think might not be this exact headphone's fault, is that in warm weather it can be uncomfortable to wear it for longer than 10 minutes.

Headphones for home studio

I really like the headphones because of Over-Ear design, I am able to wear the headphones for hours without any issues. The Semi open back is perfect for studio mixing or if you need to be aware of your surroundings!

The extra 3m cable is added bonus :)

Basics

If you are looking for a good pair of earphones for your studio, throw a larger budget into your requirements.... These ones are a basic backup, not more than this.

Comfortable. Quality. The sound is great.

Not as comfortable as I would have liked

These are my first pair of 'studio monitoring' headphones, therefore my views on what sound qualities I should expect from them are unqualified. With that in mind, anyone reading my review regarding sound, should look at a review from someone more experienced with studio headphones. The primary use for these, is to not disturb neighbours during later hours, whilst having a decent enough sound (for me), and with both these in mind, the AKG's succeed.

Although I wouldn't consider mixing tracks in headphones, I found that balancing tracks' levels, was a lot more accurate than regular headphones to a very large degree. Hearing the same mix through speakers surprised me, as far as how close the two mixes were, level wise. I can't comment on EQ, as I don't think I can rely on headphones for that.

They certainly don't sound bad, and I have enjoyed listening to commercial releases, albeit with a flat EQ (I do notice that)

The problem for me, is comfort. The pads that are supposed to go 'over ear', press against the edges of my ears. After some time it becomes quite painful, because my ears get pinched on the edges. I don't have particularly large ears. From inspecting the pads, I can see that there would have been enough room to make the holes for the ears a little larger; that way, the pads would still serve their purpose of cushioning, without pressing onto the edges of the ears. I am considering enlarging the pad opening, if it is possible without ruining them.

Apart from that issue, I think they are good. The interchangeable cables are easy to fit, and have a good locking mechanism. The sound is good, albeit from the inexperience as described earlier. The build quality is good, based on the firmness of the headband, and plastics that I would expect at this price.
