Audio-Technica ATH-M50X 4-stars Reviews
Amazing sound, not the most comfortable
These are some of the greatest headphones I have tried, the sound is super flat and everything is clear to the ear when mixing. They are built like a tank, but you lose some comfort when wearing them for long periods of time because of the really secure fit, which also is a great thing when recording vocals cuase the sound doesnt bleed
Audio-Technica ATH-M50X
I use these headphones for mixing and recording. They never let me down and give a good representation of what is going on in my mix. Of course, every headphone has its character that you have to get used to. I would definitely buy these again.
Great sound, not as comfy as I would like
Regarding sound, this model is unmistakably a good choice for the average consumer (great choice for those who wish to mix music as well). The pads could be slightly more comfortable, but I mostly feel slightly too much pressure on the sides of my head, so I feel the need to take it off if I wear it long than an hour.
Great headphones for pretty much anything but mixing
The headphones are great, they are well built and they are super comfy.
I wore them in the studio for hours while recording, and they never felt uncomfortable (albeit with some breaks here 'n' there) and sound-wise you can always hear everything clearly.
...BUT...
these ARE NOT for MIXING as they won't give you a flat frequency response AND they are super-tiring when mixing due to exactly that. Any reverb or delay effect will never translate to proper mixing when compared on monitors of ANY level and quality, EQ is not to be trusted as bass is way too powerful and highs are very "tinny".
great low end and clean sound without annoying frequencies floating around. my brother has them and i orded some for myself
Great headphones, but always check the sound before buying
I am a huge fan of AT equipment from microphones to headphones: outstanding quality, sturdy materials, great sound, reasonably priced. Those headphones were not an exception, I'm fond of it's sound resolution, frequency balance, comfort and design. However, when I ordered another pair of headphones I found a huge balance shift at 320 Hz. So. be aware of the drawbacks, check the sound with a tone generator, and enjoy those headphones with no blaming: they are really great piece of equipment for recording, djing and vocal monitoring.
Cable was broken.
Cable was broken in 4 months.
Very good
I use it for listening and producing music in my studio. Defined sound, with very powerful bass. Excellent for listening and producing, less for mixing. Pretty satisfied for my need. (if you wear glasses it's a little bit painful)
Awesome sound & great comfort, built a bit stiff though.
The only downside of these great headphones is that the build quality is a bit stiff. If something (or someone) hits the headband, it's very loud. A bit more isolation with soft materials would have been better. Besides that: awesome sound, great comfort!
Solid work horse
Very solidly built headphones, great for monitoring during tracking and for working on the go. Not the best sounding headphones I've ever heard (I was actually quite disappointed when I first heard them being used to my DT 880 pro) and not the most comfortable for long listening sessions, but they're really good headphones nonetheless, considering the price.
Recommended.
Very good product!
but if you want to play in silence without people hearing you, go with in-ear monitors.
With half volume up on my pedal board everyone can hear the sound out of these headphones.
the quality of line's connector is poor

Great headphones but a little bit overpriced
The headphones are well made, they look awesome, quality seems high. The sound is great, but overall, I would give them 7/10.
You can find good headphones for less money!
Great phones. They're not top of the range super flat and true sounding, but have a good sound and are very flexible. Use them for tracking (my self or other musicians) and for monitoring live radio shows and sport events.
The flexibility is a love/hate thing. They fold, which can be great, but when it comes to take one side of the ear and than repositioning them again, one-handed, it's a bit difficult and annoying, because of their flexibility. Over all, I recommend them. They blast sound very loud too if needed. the attachable cords are a heaven feature. Very good construction quality, I just hope, next versions come with more aluminum and less plastic for a more robust housing.
Ear pads crumble
good sound quality for the price, but the only thing is that ear pads last 2 years, they start to crumble with
Nice Headphones
I use them for mixing and listening to music. They are of good sound clarity with lots of bass but to tight on the head. Overall very good headphones for their price.
Leakage
There is some leakage when using the headphones. This is not good for a recording situation. Otherwise, the headphones are great.
Allrounders
Good bang for the buck but I actually think that they feel a lot cheaper comparing them to the same ones I got back in 2013.
This edition doesn't feel as sturdy and to be honest they feel below the price point but the sound quality is solid.
So I do recommend them but don't expect the same quality as the generations before.
Best headphones in this price range for tracking and production
perhaps not quite up to the job of final mixes and masters but good for everyday production use if you don't have £££s to spend
