Behringer BA 19A Reviews
Brilliant behringer boundary bass mic
Perfect for low frequency uses like bass drums. Xlr connection . Removes the need for a mic stand in front of the bass drum as you just pop it inside.
Very good sound for acoustic piano to increase the low tone !
Microphone
Works well with both piano and brass sections
Great mic for kick drum
I bought this as my kick drum mic, comparison between the shure 91A, the 19A have more low end frequency, more like a normal dynamic kick mic
Great Microphone and Easy to Use
Mic needs phantom power so make sure you have this available through your desk/PA.
Rivals the Shure Beta 91A as a cheaper alternative for Drummers that are on a budget and need to get themselves on the bandwagon of projecting their drums in a live setting or even as a beginner introduction to recording at home.
I use a Sonitus Kicker 2 in my bass drum and place it in the small crater provided where you get a big, low frequency and beefy overall sound out of your kick.
It's a bass drum mic
Captures exactly the sound I was looking for from my bass drum.
Punch, clarity and roundness. That, combined with a decent outer mic and a good preamp, means I have found my bass drum go-to :-)
Disappointed
Having used the Shure version of this mic when sound engineering an acoustic band where it was used on a Cajon, I thought I would try this cheaper version out. Tried it out for a number of weeks in a Cajon at a busy buskers night, I found it virtually impossible to eq a good sound, I tried all sorts of options, including the onboard flat and scooped settings, using a digital mixer, the eq for the Cajon was the most rediculous setting possible, all bass had to be rolled of,, 2k Hz upwards was increased significantly to get anywhere near what the Cajon need to sound like, then I got hit with feedback due to the rediculous eq. Others might be able to tame this on a Cajon, but for me it was a disaster.
Really amazing all in one kick mic
I bought this due to price and got totally shock how good it is as a single mic for a live metal/rock kick. Tune the kick low, engage the EQ switch, add a bit of 60hz and maybe some 4k to taste and compress it a bit. It works every time. Amazing deal!
No need for Beta 91, this is real deal.
For the cost , this mic is a no brainer !
I brought this to use inside the kick drum on my drum kit, I was initially sceptical about how good this would be (as most of these style of mics such as Shure ones are over £200)
However the cost of this mic is considerably less but it's still very robust and sounds great !
