Very authentic sounding

Takes a bit of getting used to but there are some great tutorials on youtube. It really comes to life with reverb and delay and its very thick sounding like the original. Sounds great in a mix.

Great value for money...

Pros:

- authentic sounding

- cheap

- easy to use arpeggiator and step sequencer

- hand on tweaking for oscillators and LFO's

cons:

- no preset saving

Great synth for a beginner!

My first hardware synth. Easy to learn, as every parameter is on the front. Nice modulations options. Good build quality.

Great sound, a little bit on a retro side, but it is an 80's synth, right?

The filter has its own character, very nice.

Pros: sounds great, nice filter, easy to control, lot of modualtions, arp is quite nice, but limited in options.

Cons: lacks real sequencer.

Overall, I would highly recommend!

True value-for-money synth

What Behringer did by adding a small patch bay really brings the initial Pro One synth architecture to modern times. The capabilities, especially when using stack cables, are numerous. Coming from a VST-only background, this module was a massive breath of fresh air for me, especially because of the feedback loop options. To clarify, I am not referring just to audio feedback, but even feedback routing like Mixer Out to OSC PWM.

As for the sound, it is capable of deep bass for sure, but where it shines is the higher frequencies. The oscillators have crisp, clear highs, and the Curtis filter is beautifully paired with them. Because of this (by default) bright sounding setup of components, I found the Pro-1 cutting through my mixes where Diva or other VSTs were lost, even when purposefully drowning them in long reverb. (as you do)

I use this module for both clear melodic content, and experimental music sound design, and I thoroughly enjoy it in both.

The cons I could spot where that, some features are hidden and need to be looked up online, and the Resonance CV tends to get loud easily.

Good Bit of Kit

Thoroughly enjoying my Pro-1. I'm pretty new to synths but I love the sounds I can get from this.

The only Con is there isnt much documentation that come with it, but there is plenty of tutorials, help and patch ideas online.

Excelent Synth but with asterisks.

I was really craving for this one, since I always had an attraction to the Prophet synths. And indeed this synth delivers a very close sound and the feel to the original Pro One. Of course, like its' brothers, it features patch points which you can use to further modulate the sound.

I must report, that I had an unexpected with the Arp / Sequencer, where notes were not triggered properly. The issue somehow got fixed (without any update). When this issue was resolved, it was such a great fun playing with both.

My main concern, is that the synth won't respond to the lowest midi notes. It goes down to C0 and then stops, so I really found myself wishing it would go lower than that, when I was playing bass lines. I'm guessing this is to be faithful to the original, but I wish Behringer integrated it as an option to a future Synthtool / Firmware update.

My verdict is that, especially for this price, Pro-1 is a must have, and you'll spend hours of making music, pretending to be John Carpenter, scoring his next film, in the 80s (that's a nuendo for requesting a Pro-5 clone actually) ;)

Terrific

Amazing quality for the money. I have a neutron and a d from behringer as well but this is the one i like best of the 3. it is simpler/easier to use than the others - the controls seem a lot more solid and responsive than the other two and it has a sequencer which adds to the fun plus the modulation matrix is pretty easy to get your head around relative to the modulation on the other 2. If you want to buy one of the behringers and you are new to analog synths this is probablty the one to buy. Highly recommended.

Evil and ominous

This is *the* Carpenter synth. Lots of really terrifying sounds in here, just like the original. Great for fans of Nate Young / Demons / Wolf Eyes. P.S. Wolf Eyes Rules!

Totally recommend this classy monosynth

I'm a bass player venturing into synth bass sounds, so Pro-1 came in super-handy. It sounds great, two oscillators give it raw and 'phat' sound, also quite aggressive. Modular matrix and patch bay give additional sound crafting possibilities. In my view, this is the best mono-synth of the recent Behringer line-up.

always wanted a Sequewntial Circuits Pro One & this one fills that desire perfectly

I love this synth . I already feel I know it & it fits with my taste & process, programming & sonically, probably because I have used & still have other classic 80s Prophet synths & have always loved the 80s Prophet synths. I find it really easy to get the sounds I want . happy camper.

Great sound, beautiful recreation

Great and unique sound. A beautiful recreation of the original synth. Well built in metal and designed for eurorack format too. Very robust knobs and switches. Good value for money.

Behringer Pro-1

The Behringer Pro-1 is everything you can expect from a semi-modular analog synthesizer. Well built and with excellent finishes, it is truly an original Pro-1 with the benefits of a structure capable of being integrated into a Euro-rack structure.

The analysis I made in terms of the oscilloscope, shows that the Behringer Pro-1 replica is inserted in the most faithful one produced in terms of reproduction of an original Pro-1, surpassing the best expectations. Robust, manageable and with an enviable purity of sound, I recommend the Pro-1 for all lovers of analog sound and willing to produce complex, different sounds and above all in an understandable and fast way.

As a future improvement for a more complete equipment, I hope one day to see a Pro-1 (plus) system, with some benefits included by Behringer compared to the original model, with the inclusion of effects, sequencer and keyboard.

great clone very close to the original

The Pro-1 is really well built, sturdy and with firm knobs.

Midi interface works flawlessly as the cv/gate input, only strange thing is that using MIDI, oscillator won't respond below a certain note.

soundwise is really good, very very close to the original even in the filter behaviour (increasing resonance low frequencies disappears)

paraphonic mode is a nice addition to this litte beast

Sequential Topdeal

After buying the Model D, Neutron and K2 the Pro 1 was the logical consequence in line. But thinking of jut another Behringer module would miss the point totally. The Pro 1 is a solid build beast for much more than only fantastic basses.

The sound of the filters are absolutely awesome and the possibillities of this machine will end in a endless joy of having fun. For this money there is hardly something on the market to compare.......just get it you won't regret it !!!

Love that warm sound

What is there not to like, the build on the original was somewhat dubious and you can now link to eurorack gear and rackmount. Superb work team, I cannot tell the difference.

Favorite Synth

The device has a rich sound. It is made with high quality.I pretty easily recreated some classic retro leads as well as bass. Immediately recognized a very characteristic tone with this synth.Very happy with this amazing synth.
