Quality Analogue Mixer

This is the best analogue mixer you can get for the price and quality.

A Great Analogue Mixer

With a two digital fx engines, it's a great and very versatile analogue mixer. Loads of features -a couple of auxes, groups, fx, etc. Plenty of routing options.

It's not a most beautiful sound but it doesn't claim to be -especially at the this price and feature set, it's fantastic for what we want to use it for (live sound in a festival marquee over the summer).

The sound quality is more than satisfactory for our use -I'd imagine that most venues will be perfectly satisfied with this mixing desk.

We have a more expensive digital desk for the main conferencing and performance space because we need more flexibility, control and better sound quality.

For simplicity, features, price etc... this SX2442FX is brilliant

Small Money for a Big Product

This is a fantastic sound desk for the price! I used the day after I received it and it was all fully working with no problems! I purchased the flight case for it as well which is a fantastic fit!

I have found so problems with the desk or its functionality.

Packed with features , but reliability problems

Used as main front of house desk in 5 piece band , with mackie swa 1801, and mackie sr1522z . This mixer is packed with so many features for the price looked like the ideal mixer for us , however at its 3rd gig things started to go wrong

A) one of the 16 channel strips died

B) 4 times during a gig both effects engines stopped working I had to reboot the mixer each time

Don?t get me wrong the sound is great from this desk with the twin effects units, sub groups, mono out with frequency crossover control etc, and the aux sends with are brilliant for total control of the monitors

But for me reliability is a concern

Thank God its Behringer!

Buying this desk was worth it!..

First of all it has Great quality , the channel EQ and especially the graphic eq rules.. i managed to transform my crappy studio monitors with this!

The effects -for a few- are amazing! I use this most for studio and live recording it is perfect! easily can cover up a 4 or 5 -man band ..well of course it depends whenever someone wants and extra floor monitor or in ear!But Even if it has only 2 aux its not big deal ,you can make the fx1 as a monitor and keeping the fx2 for your effect you want to use but well thats me on the hard times hehe :)! you can do many things with this little mixer! its very simple to use and very easy to carry around!

this was a perfect choice and i havent regret buying it!

and after all its cheap :)

BEST VALUE FOR MONEY FOLKS!

Have fun!

Very nice Mixer

In a world of digital this little analog mixer holds its own. Can digital ever sound better? I guess with lots of plug-ins, patches and the like. This is in my club and couldn't be bothered with a digital mixer because i had an expensive Yamaha and everybody wanted their fingers in it, what a mess. The musicians commented on the Behringer on-board effects, mainly the reverb for vocals and loved it. Good luck

A big mistake

Purchasing the Behringer SX2442FX mixer was a tragic mistake. Not that it doesn?t have a rich feature list ? it?s a good product when it works. Sadly, those moments were rare and few.

I had to return the first one as it simply broke down. A new one came under warranty. Things looked OK for a while, then the the replacement unit went south, as it happened outside warranty, so the repair was a rather pricy affair.

It held its ground again after that repair but just recently it blew (luckily not literally) again.

I know it?s got good ratings, and my experience with Behringer is good, so it?s possible to find an odd unit manufactured on a Friday afternoon half an hour before the end of business hours. But to receive two unreliable units?

Great peace of gear.

First of all, price ar realy good. Build quality is ok, sound quality too.

Only thing - cd/tape in input quality is low - a little bit noisy sound.

Other mono channels are ok.

I'm using this for about 8 years in rephearsal studio, all works fine. Built-in effects are great. Right now all buttons ar working just fine.

I recomment this pease of gear for home studios, small venues and rephearsal studios. I dont recommendt this using in pro studio, with super hi-q mics, cause mixer is a little bit noisy.

There are some new models in this serie with usb port, this could be a little bit better i think.

Behringer SX2442FX

This is my third desk, each time i needed more channels i had no problem selling my old one at nearly at what they cost me. this must be the easiest desk to use and gives professional sound. last use was for a school theatre production, eight headsets and eight open microphones plus three piece band and desk worked a treat, headsets were another matter...

SX2442FX

I can't really fault this desk for the money, it has so many features and really the sound quality is good. The routing is incredibly flexible. I should probably say as well I?m using it primarily as a desk for working with an open reel analogue deck, so the 4 buss structure is a good match for my 4/4 REC 8 PLAY track configuration, and I have plenty of extra inputs for my MIDI gear. Very old school, but I like working with this sometimes.

Anyway, I had a few disappointments. For me I didn't like the fact that the only way to route monitoring that includes soloed channels (control room out) is through a single headphone jack. Other models in the series such as the X2222USB (which I also own) have a separate set of L/R jacks for control room output.

I found the 48v phantom light stays on all the time no matter what you do with the switch, but the operation is unaffected, so it's just a slight annoyance. Would probably be more of an issue in a live situation with low light, where you need to be sure your 48v is off before patching TRS cables.

Again like the X2222USB, it would be nice if the selected FX settings remained between sessions and a tap tempo option like the X2222USB would be welcome, likewise the one knob compression.

So really my gripes are about things that are present on a newer design frame that are ?missing? from the 2442FX. It would be good to see Behringer update this model with these handy things. I dare say had I not owned a X2222USB prior to this one I would not miss most of these things, probably just the extra monitor output.

All in all, incredible value for money.

Competent mixing console

This has everything you need to get control of your four or maybe even five man band in the rehearsal studio and at a gig. Another monitor channel or two would have been great, but other than that this does everything you want it to, and does it nicely.

Great Mixer!

I use this mixer at concerts at small to medium venues as well as a recording desk. I have mixed bands through the console, it is great for that and having the ability to submit is an excellent feature and comes in very useful. I've also used this mixer to produce vocal only performances running T.Bone wireless lapel units though the console, the inbuilt preamps make the whole experience easy and develop a crisp clear sound to my speakers. The in built EQ is excellent, I have used the in built mixer for some shows and used a separate EQ for others and the difference is only the range of control depending on the venue size the inbuilt EQ should easily cover the average users needs. This is an extremely good mixer especially given the price.

A great mixer for on the road or in the studio.

What I like about the Behringer SX 2442FX:

The layout of the SX 2442FX is very intuitive; following the signal path through the deck is easy by following the different colour coded knobs blue for EQ, red for AUX and orange for FX. The on board Graphics equalizer and effects are very good but I have yet to use them in a live situation. It’s good to know that they are there if needed.

My setup:

I use this mixer for a mobile PA setup and it has proved to be rugged enough to be still in pristine condition after almost five years of transporting to gigs in a hatchback in its original box.

I use 1 main vocal mic in channel 1 the next 4 channels have vocal mics channelled through sub 1-2 and through my Behringer EQ and returning through another channel direct to the main mix out. Then I use two other channels for music.

In the home studio The SX 2442FX is very versatile as a recording mixer with plenty of channels for mics and adding things like a looper and wireless receivers for ukulele and Cigar box guitar. Also a couple of floor stand mics for didgeridoo and cajon. Recording is accomplished via the dedicated tape input-output so the uses for this mixer are endless.

Quality:

As you will gather from the above this mixer is of excellent quality especially when you consider the price. Do not be put off by the width of the mixer although it is wider than the average mixer it is still easy to transport between gigs. And as they say if your kit looks good your audience will think you sound good.

To sum up:

This is a real mixer that feels good, looks good and really does sound good. With all the features you could want and much more. So I would recommend the SX 2442FX to anyone and I would not be without mine.

Just a little more please?

A great 'desk for money' ratio, but I would like to have seen 4 more sub groups and another 2 auxs pre/post and then I would have happily paid more for it!
